I was alive.  For most people, that was never a thought or concern.  They worked, they traveled home, they spent time with their loved ones.  And they tapped into my life to power their own.  When your entire life is nothing but the blink of an eye for something greater than yourself, it's not hard to forget the world around you.  But I was alive as they were.

 

The Shin-Ra Electric Power Company weren't the only ones to tap into the lifestream - my blood, my life - for energy.  Many attempted to flourish over the centuries by harvesting my life.  The problem wasn't any one person or group.  It was basic human greed.  It was basic human lust.  Lust for power.

 

Power.  That is why SOLDIER existed.  Warriors of considerable power and skill on their own, but that wasn't good enough for its leaders.  They demanded that their men be infused with what they called "Mako energy" to enhance them.  It would create a brand of supersoldiers, capable of toppling even the strongest of enemies.  SOLDIER made no country a threat to Shin-Ra.  Their unintentional quest to destroy the world that enabled them would be without challenge.

 

Until they came along.

 

Terrorists.  Murderers.  These were the label that were given to those fighting to protect the planet.  And to some, this was true.  To me, these labels meant nothing.  If I died...they died.  If they died...I could live.

 

Then there was him.  Their one-winged angel.

 

He had all of the power in the world, and all he wanted to do was destroy everything.  So much hate, so much anger.  Sometimes I wonder how I would have felt if I had been in his place.  How would I have felt...if I could feel anything at all?

 

The protectors.  Weapons, they called them.  Monsters, they had said.  The humans attacked one another endlessly and felt just to protect themselves.  When their target sought protection, it because immoral and demonic.  Did their hypocrisy know no end?  And to turn my own life against my creations, using it to fuel their own weapons.  The humans truly sought their destruction.

 

 

The small group of seven traveled north to fight him.  It was not only their own lives at stake, but everyone else's.  Everything else's.  It was an intense battle.  The golden-haired warrior fought bravely, leading his companions...no...his friends.  It was believed that the one they called Sephiroth could not be defeated.  But he had lost before.  The sound of steel slashing against itself echoed throughout the deepest reaches of my land.  It was deafening.  Then it was no more.

 

Did I dream their victory?  Was it all in some other time?  Some other timeline?

 

They had called it materia.  Crystallized Mako is how they had described it; it had them magical powers.  To me, it was only small deposits of my life slowly being taken away.  It was only fitting - or is it ironic - that the powers they so adamantly sought would be their undoing.

 

Perhaps it was even more fitting that the gifts I had given them would bring my end, as well.  

 

After the protectors I had created had failed, and the protectors that chose to fight for me had failed, I could only fight for myself.  But the black materia had caused too much damage.  Their constant sapping of my life force had left me weak.  I was vulnerable.  When the silver-haired one pierced my skin with his blade, and his meteor fell from the sky, I was simply too exhausted to fight long enough.  I could not fight any longer.  Now only my shell remains.  Quiet.  Barren.  Lifeless.  But the silver-haired one's words will alway be with me.

 

I will never be... a memory.

You're the most powerful person on the planet, and the most famous soldier in history, plus arguably the most popular video game villain of all time.  You also have a seven foot sword (not a euphemism) and long, silver hair.  Oh, and you go insane and basically try to murder everybody.  In other words, you're somebody I look up to a lot.  

 

Ability: Once during the game, at night, you may choose a player you wish to kill.  This is in addition to your regular factional kill.  You may also communicate with your partner, Sooh, at all times.  You may communicate here:

Win condition:  You win when you achieve parity with the remaining town members.

Nyn hardly played a role in Sooh getting lynched.  Yes, she voted her, but I'm relatively sure Sooh was ONLY ever a suspect because of Cory and Liz.

I was never in the lock-town part of anyone's reads, so it still would have been stupid for me to do it.
