ZANDER I'M DOING WHAT I ALWAYS DO IT'S HOW I FIND SCUM BEST. It's not my problem. It's just the game where people are allowed to have different ways of finding mafia.

It is your problem tho because a lot of people thinks youre Scum.  If youre actually are Town youre distracting Town from finding the Wolves by doing this. 

 

Like I get that its your way but Town has 2 responsibilities finding Scum and TOWN TELLING.

 

Build your reads for yourself the way you do but like in School when you got a math question on a test and it says to not just answer it but to show your work as to how you got there.

 

Can you see it from others perspective, ESPECIALLY when youre playing off site where you dont have much or any history with a lot of the players.

 

Is this making any sense Penny?

 

I'm catching up, but I'm going to jump in here, because Zander, trust me. I have beat this dead horse several times, and one of the things that is frustrating for me with you is that you felt perfectly comfortable dismissing my points on Calder by saying "that's just Calder" but you can't accept that this is Penny. It's not Penny because she's trying to be difficult. It's Penny because it's Penny.

 

She has come a long way in her game. Her scum vs. town meta used to be so distinct that those of us who knew her well enough could read her consistently like a book. The one game that she's so scarred about with me - the reason I knew she was town that game was because I was using what I used to jokingly refer to as "Braided Pain [another PerC player's] Guide to Lassie's Meta". So even though she repeatedly said stuff that made me think I was crazy for trusting the Guide, the Guide actually worked.

 

Like I said, she's grown a long way as a town and scum player since then. But there are still certain things I don't think she's gained the insight into to change. No offence to her, but like I said: i've had enough circular arguments with her in and post-game where we were both town to realize this.

 

The way she thinks is how she thinks. But she also has good instincts so i've learned to pay close attention to her flyby reads once I've figured out she's town.

 

You feel she's scum and want to vote for her? Fine. You do what you feel you have to do. But stop berating her for not thinking the way you think she should be thinking. You do you and let her do her.

I'm going to make a valliant effort to catch up before posting anymore because I don't want Alanna to hate me anymore than she already does...

Ive said what I didnt like about your game.  It makes no sense to. I tell you I dont get it but youre normally Scummy and make no sense to me.  So then I start asking you for things to help me see where youre coming from and you dont do it or come up with something really weak.

 

Youve done nothing to make me change my mind you just keep saying this is how I play and people find me Scummy.  Im sorry Penny but that alone is not gonna sail with me.

 

Like I could see if I was the only person to have this problem Penny but Im not. Im just the most vocal about it cause I want to make sure Im reading you right.

 

Also why would you seph in the analysis when Darthe is your top Scum read and iirc where your vote is.....???

 

 

Why wouldn't she put Seph in the analysis if Seph is the counterwagon to hers?

Okay, that wasn't so bad...

 

My comments after catching up:

 

@Zander, I already made my comments to you about the way you're pushing Penny - not the fact that you are, but the WAY you are. If you've played with her before and you know that she often doesn't make sense to you, I don't know why you expect her to suddenly become a beacon of clarity to you now. I stand by my town read on her and if I'm wrong then I'll actually say "yay!" because it will mean that she's actually understood what I've been trying to tell her for probably a year now enough to use it as part of her scum play.

 

Trust me, if she were scum, she would probably be making a whole lot more sense to you right now. I'm the only one here who knows her meta inside and out enough for her to use it to fool me, so ask yourself: why would she purposely adopt that meta in an environment where it's likely to get her lynched by almost anyone but me?

 

 

That being said, I understand your frustration. And I feel like I owe you apology for me being so flippant in response to your request for a reads list and my reasons for not posting reads lists (usually). I was tired and I've explained this countless times to people on my site during a phase when everyone was jumping down people's throats if they didn't provide a reads list so OMG YOU MUST BE SCUM! So I'll try to summarize in a nutshell:

 

1) Producing them is tedious. Half the time I don't have much that's meaningful to say about half the players but in my newbie days when i tried to make reads lists I'd feel compelled not to leave anyone out and that takes time and effort and often turns out to be meaningless. If you read the thread you should have a clear enough idea by now on my thoughts on key players - i.e., who I don't mind dying and who I would be opposed to lynching. Anything in between is going to be quite fluid and reserve the right to change my mind without people claiming that I'm flipflopping.

 

2) In case you haven't noticed: I don't like laying all my cards on the table. At least not all at once. So if you get a full reads list from me, there is a very good chance that some of it is not going to be honest. Doesn't matter what my alignment is, I'm not giving you all my deepest most intricate thoughts. Why?

 

3) because reads lists can become a roadmap for scum in terms of who they should target to kill.

 

I'm not saying that reads lists can't be helpful. The main reasons that I don't do them is 1 and 2. With an emphasis on 1. I know you'll hate that answer, but that's not going to change for me. On my homesite or here.

@Sili, I don't mind you wanting to push me. I think everyone has been pushed. But if you're going to throw out a theory about me, then at least base it in facts please and thank you.

 

You made a statement about persistent pushing being a staple for me (it is...when I feel I have something strong enough to push) and then said that I did it with Penny the way I did it with Calder?

 

I'm pretty damn sure you were part of the conversation with Chris early on trying to figure out why Penny perceived that I was tunneling her when you both agreed I wasn't tunnelling her. And I would hope that you read my subsequent comments about how your conversation made me understand what penny was trying to say with her "actual tunnelling" comment. So how is that me pushing Penny like I pushed Calder?

 

I'm going to be frank with you. I don't have a lot of meta to go off of in this field (which might be a good thing), but I've kind of written you off at this point as misguided town because of your kind of erratically confident reads on almost everyone in this game (meaning, you jump around a lot, but you're very confident in your reads - to the point of saying at one point you were the only one with good reads and town was doomed if you died -- even after coming to the conclusion that your previous reads were all wrong.

 

But I have this tendency to get it wrong with at least one player of your style pretty much every game that I play. I was thinking last night when I was watching the Chronos Trigger game, I got 2 out 3 of the scum team right on day 1 (including Zander) but I missed the one guy who I wrote off as misguided town because of play that was similar to your play in this game. So while i'm not ready to lynch you today, I'm also realizing that it's probably not a good idea to give you a free pass. Especially after you make a comment like "Am I scum or am I just playing badly".

 

And your comment on not seeing Seph changing his reasoning - did you not see the whole conversations that Calder and Chris have had on that topic?

Oh and Calder...even though you didn't explain it to me the way I asked you to (not sure if you understood what I was asking you for) I think that I understand what your process might have been with your you-Celeste scenario wording.

 

I wouldn't have worded it that way, but i think I understand why you did. Not that it makes me convinced you're town. But at least I think I understand that part of it...

So, i caught up. More or less. 

 

Around page 56... feels like Seph just gives up... any body else got that impression too? I had a townlean on him before that, but now....

I liked Laine's posts. I know how eternal catching up mode feels like, so I understand her feelings about the post restriction having been a good idea. Feel a lot better about her now, town pile.
