War. War never changes.

 

The Mushroom Kingdom was once a land of peace. Under the guidance of the benevolent Princess Peach, all that threatened the kingdom was the infrequent goomba attack or a half-hearted kidnapping so poorly executed that a single member of the populace's blue collar working class could thwart it single-handedly with nothing but a fire flower. Of course, your foes become much less intimidating when your biggest adversary is calling you up at 9 A.M. for a round of golf or a game of tennis.

 

But war never changes.

 

For the Mushroom Kingdom, it was greed. The nation's national pastime - Kart Racing - was usurped by its corrupt proprietors, and any attempt to halt this cancer growing in the heart of the citizenry was retaliated with violence. Soon, the riots began, then the battles, and then the missiles dropped. The body count piled up day after day. None came out unscathed and few came out alive. Bowser, cast into a pit of lava with his son. Mario, devoured whole by a raging piranha plant. Even the Princess herself met her end staring down a red shell. It was the Apocalypse, it was Ragnarok, it was the end of times.

 

It would be three years until the land would know peace again. A force of survivors led by the newly appointed Queen Daisy prevailed against the resistance and re-established control. Society began to stabilize step by step, the nuclear lessons of the previous age considered, technology becoming more beneficial rather than destructive. The nation rallied around their new idol, the hero Teenage Mario who had helped save the kingdom as a mere baby. It felt like a new era far from the harsh lessons of the great Mushroom Purge.

 

But war never changes.

RULES

 

1. As long as the game is ongoing, you may talk about the game only inside the game thread.

2. If you have a role which allows you to communicate outside the game thread, then you may do so only when allowed by your role, and only with individuals specified by your role.

3. You may not edit or delete posts in the game thread for any reason at any time.

4. You may not post screenshots of, or directly quote your role PM, mod communication, or any other game-related communication that originated outside of the game thread.

5. You are expected to be familiar with the rules, and you are expected to abide by them even if you think they are incorrect.

6. You are expected to behave civilly and agree to the player conduct guidelines which are totally not stolen from MU.

7. You may roleclaim whatever you please. Character claims are not allowed.

8. Each phase will end when specified by the moderator. The player with the most votes at this time will be lynched. If there is a majority, the phase will end as soon as majority is reached.

9. Nothing out of the spirit of the game - no making sig bets or anything like that. Be cool.

10. Your moderators is me. I'll do our best to give frequent votecounts and make sensible deadlines.

PLAYER CONDUCT GUIDELINES

 

1)Treating others as you would like to be treated, is sometimes not enough. Do more. Lowering your own standards will not grant you the right to mistreat others. Treat others as they wish to be treated: If someone makes a reasonable request to you, please comply. If someone makes an absurd request, please decline politely.

 

2) Forum mafia is a game between friends. Not all players wish to be competitive, and no one is required to be excellent at the game; that is an individual's right. Do not degrade your fellow guests and fellow players by calling them stupid or bad. In particular, there is a zero tolerance policy for flaming players that are new to the game.

 

3) Remember that while you are playing for fun, others take the game seriously. Please do not play against your win condition or play in a manner which is deliberately harmful to your side.

 

4) Treat each other with civility even if you are frustrated. You have every right to get irritated or upset with someone, but it is better to let them know that in a civil manner, use the report button, alert the mod, or put them on ignore, than to flame and bait.

 

5) Treat each other with civility even after and outside the game. Reserving bile and insults for post-game or non-game threads defeats the purpose of not allowing it during the game. Please extend this civility and friendliness to all parts of the site.

 

6) Play with a sportsmanlike attitude. It is unsportsmanlike to mock another person's win/loss record, their performance within a game, or to attempt to circumvent the rules and cheat. Refer to the forum rules and each individual game's rules for definitions of what constitutes cheating.

It is a particularly exciting day in the Mushroom Kingdom. Beloved idol Teenage Mario is preparing to give what should be a landmark speech exposing corruption in the Mushroom Kingdom and again thwarting the power of anything but justice and moral purity. But those close to the young hero have reported his mood to be grimmer than ever.

 

The mixture of elation and fear was bubbling into a large cloud hanging over the still scorched Earth of a kingdom only eleven years removed from the great Mushroom Purge. A large cloud that would soon burst with the sound of a single gunshot.

The genetic descendant of a beloved hero and vocal leader in the political world of the Mushroom Kingdom, you fought for your country from your infancy and continued to fight until today. It is your tragic and untimely death that starts the second Mushroom War.

 

You have an awesome night action, and by night action, I mean you die as soon as the game starts.

 

Win Condition: Eliminate all threats to town.

CHARACTER CLAIMS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS GAME FOR FLAVOR REASONS. ROLE CLAIMS ARE FINE.

 

 

Scheduling information:

After an extended Day 1 for check-ins, game will be scheduled for 36/12 days with weekends being combined as a "single" day to account for DM weekends.

 

EOD time will be 9 PM E/ST. If you are unable to send a NA in the 12 hour window, you are allowed to pre-submit. Day will open when scheduled regardless of submissions. Night talk will still be allowed.
