Freaky double timing and calling each other Town. Insta-paranoia says they could have planned it if they are wolves (let's have each other lock-Town! Wolves never do that!), attempt at rational/occam's brain says it is actually unlikely for W-W to interact so much and then blatantly call each other Town so early in the game.

 

I'm trying to go with rational where I can, or you're all going to be scum in my brain for the rest of the game.

I almost want to legit town read you for saying that when I did.

This was the one that stood out most and made me go back and re-read. 

Basically, Shad sounded more carefree, Lenlo more controlled. I can't read Lenlo's bold but thoughts were if not sarcastic or good friends/frequently play together this 'against the world' (when Town is the majority) seems wolfy. Not pushing anything further, just an observation.

 

 

You're going to be an interesting one to figure out.

 

You are demonstrating analysis but seem to be considering events on a somewhat superficial level(1).  Do you think that Lenlo and I consider each other lock town?(2)  Do you think that scum would be instinctively inclined to describe themselves a a minority in the village?(3)

 

 

1. What's superficial? I'll tie things together if I feel I get a good handle on someone, if that's what you're looking for. (The posts your up to there are just a scatter approach: read, see what stands out, question looking for elaboration on motives, decide how the response feels/how much I believe, talk about what's in my head). 

 

2. I don't know, I couldn't tell - that's why I asked Lenlo's opinion/meta of you and why I'm interested in your response to the questions on your opinion/meta on him. 

 

3. Is that a convoluted way of asking 'Would scum call each other scum?' ? Possibly in RVS, but probably not both of them that early in seriousness, IMO. What do you get out of this question?

Mild reads which are easy to reverse. More of a tell later on when I've got enough to work with where I should have a solid read.
 
How much is 2000 words.... google says 4 pages. Spread that over many posts.
 
Give me 2000 words of game-related stuff that is mostly content, and I should be able to read someone. Give me fewer words, fewer posts, fewer content-related words and ideas, and my accuracy rating dips considerably. It needs to be a lucky "tell" kind of post, like with Dice in previous games. Or Shad's D1 kind of stuff.

 

 
The more open the player, the better this is. The more closed the player, I can be puzzled for a long while.
 

Cass has been a much easier read, one I feel I can make more accurately, given the type of posts she's done and the volume of them.
 
If I can't give you a read with that much content then I'm wolfing.

I need more data on Celeste from observation. Like NotBob a couple games ago. My instinct says vote there but it's got nothing else behind it.

Hello, We've played together, I'm excited to be back. That's Celeste.

That's not enough to get a read off of and it feels very closed. And then there's a vote on Cass, which is null, but I don't agree with it.

Celeste is Penny elsewhere and I don't remember if I've ever played with Penny, I'm almost certain I have not.

Mainly that's a few posts and no read, and several people town-telling, and a generic opening and a closed player makes me want to vote there.

But more time will give me a bigger picture of the players I'm null on and Celeste herself. Gun to my head I'd vote there to lynch day one, but I bet I find something more solid, either on celeste, or on someone else.

Unlike the past several games, no one has made moves I saw scummy yet. That *does* happen. I had more pages to work with in other games when I began hunting.

But yes, if that's what my suspect list looks like, plus like a name or two in orange, by the end of day one, I'm usually scum.

Especially if the reasons are timid and not fully fleshed out, and the leans on many players feel reversible.

 

 

FWIW I've played with Penny more than I've played with anyone else (twice). I'll let her play a bit and when I think I've got a better handle/she's settled properly into a groove I'll compare her play more thoroughly with what I've seen. She was fairly closed but straight-shooting in the last game. Gut says she's probably pushing you for reactions, using the joke vote on me to test. I don't have a problem with that vote.

I think if either of you flips wolf, the other is more likely to be a villager. But if one of you flips villager, that doesn't necessarily mean we should lynch the other because you're wolf. Let me go back and reread the exchange later and see if I feel the same way.

Another tell for Celeste being town is her scum reading me. That's something I expect, because she's a lot more uncertain of herself as town and also absolutely can't read me. ;)

It was the fact you commented an observation without giving indication of why it was important that stood out. If it's good to note for later, why? It doesn't happen often but sometimes when I find people are struggling with something mafia-related or I have something I think is useful, I share it during the game.

 

Example of which is when during Game 3 I told Road (what game this is and who that is aren't important) how to handle playing a game with way more posts than he might be used to, and discussed using the ignore function for dead villagers to reduce re-read time. I thought he was likely to be scum at the time, but in case he wasn't, I still offered it.

 

It doesn't have any purpose other than hey, maybe this is helpful to someone. And I'd do that as scum, though I can't cite any examples of that from memory.

 

I don't always take notes every post. On other websites where there are fewer posts than here per day phase, it's not needed. I've found it helpful in the past particularly if I survive a long time in a game, because then I can start bolding blue my notes where the villagers died, and it helps me see reactions and patterns of the scumbags.

 

I did this on the Giant in the Playground board, when I was a nilla townie in a long game with a large scum team. Was very useful.

Besides Cass and Celeste, I'm feeling good about Pizza, I think. Mainly because he's doing a lot of questioning, explaining his reasoning (even if I don't quite agree). Maybe Laine. Her attitude seems natural and relaxed, which is good if I compare it to that one game we were scum together in.

 

I'm gradually gathering reads about other people, but at this point, I haven't caught any scummy behavior. I suppose I could go back to opening posts and look for forced behavior or kind of off tone.

- Joke votes are not normal for me except if I feel relatively comfortable with someone both inside and outside the game. 

- Dice and Penny are probably the only players I would jokevote at this stage of my career.

- Voting is not something I do lightly in any case (to this point). I don't like being wrong. I'm think I'm learning the advantages of throwing votes around, but it's not something I easily/naturally want to do when there's a game to win!!

 

I play... differently to this? More carefully/sensored? Usually. As either alignment. But I'm hyper! Z, I think I played once or twice with her in the game. I don't recall a lot about her but I think she is a more analytical player. I recall dice always having to tell her to go to sleep.

For me, I'm Turin and I like lazy Sunday mornings in bed, medium sized walks in the park and living here in the shire.

I'm town. Like always.

 

I can be analytical when I put my mind to it. I like sifting through stuff and finding nitty-gritty inconsistencies. That goes for play in either alignment.

I've tried to sleep more the last couple of games. I think you're more likely to understand me correctly this game if you think like Dice and just question if I seem like me.

That's a long exercise, and one I find borderline counterproductive at this stage, and I don't really think of people as a list of dos and don'ts in the first place. The whole value of a meta read is that it allows you to catch people being dishonest in subtle ways that are not objectively alignment indicative.
