(also sorry Besie. I'm trying to catch my tablets autocorrect of your name, but I'm missing a fair few )

No problem.

How much talking are you doing with Besie?

He's CLEARLY not talking to me enough. I've starting irritating him with everything now. I don't like that he just discards my thoughts, irrespective of how new I am.

About drunken Z:

Sorry about this, AJ.

Zander come back when you're sober or can at least still type.

You're not posting anything constructive

And sorry Yates,

Zander. Put down the bottle. Tell me what you think I'm not answering. Be specific.

Also, I didn't call you dumb. I said you were being dumb. Now I just think you are scum. So prove to me that you were just being dumb.

And sorry to the rest. Please forgive his inability to put down the bottle and stop typing.

Is low volume indicative of much from Tress?

One of the biggest things that struck me yesterday was that she only made two game-related posts all phase.

I'm not sure anyone here has played with Tress as mafia. Maybe Pral or BFG? I've seen her as serial killer once and I think she was maybe quieter than normal early on? But I don't remember.

As town, she's still not an overly active player. Less active than me, I'd say, but I certainly expect more than she's given so far.

But to be honest, I care more about what she's saying than how much. She has this weird problem where she says her thoughts without a filter, and she is kind of easily influenced by her emotions at times - makes it incredibly to tell she's town. I haven't seen anything like that.

Clov & Yates & Bender

Okay, caught up.  I'm going to make this as simple as possible:

-Don't lynch BFG.  She's town.  If you don't trust that, let me put it this way - if your thought process is "Should I lynch BFG this game?", you better come up with "No".  Beyond the simple fact that she's not going to try to CFD me on D1 as scum say...9 times out of 10?, her approach to actually trying to solve this game just rings true to me.  I don't love her activity this game, but I'm not going to push her for it by any means.

-Barring a concussion, I can't fathom voting Zander/Besie.  Look at Zander's pushes on people in this game versus his scum game.  Does he seem to objectively know somebody is mafia and he's tunneling the hell out of them, to the point where I'm visibly mad at his existence?

For Besie, I just believe her.  No, I can't explain it better than that.  My instincts tell me that if she's mafia, Zander and the rest of her team probably don't let her get into a D1 fight with Yates, but beyond that, I just get the impression she's just not making stuff up and throwing it out there.  Combined with Lenlo's scumtastic vote, this doesn't stand a chance.

-Dice.  AJ, I know you've asked about this a few times, but I'm pretty confident with him being town.  One, he just seems to be thinking what he says.  That's a good sign.  Second, I'm willing to admit I'm sheeping BFG on him a bit (see: Harry Potter    ).

I'm not lynching AJ today.  I think his progress IRT to me/Lenlo is good enough to buy him a pass today, and some of the suspicions he'd have I'm not sure he'd necessarily default to as scum.  He is, by far, the least confident of these for me...but if I get four players off the table D1 in a 13er, I'm pretty happy.

"MY TEAM" - meaning JUST Zander - is not advising me much. He DID however say that people tend not to vote for Yates early in game. Which, being a beginner, feels silly to me. If he is wolf, why are you all protecting him?

In the same breath: Clov has a point here:

The idea with Yates was not that I 100% trust him but rather I wanted test his conviction. I wanted to see how hard he would go at Zander once he started to get some support or if he would back up and slow down. Probably not the best thing to do this close to deadline, but I didnt have much else goin on so figured what the heck.

All right, the first part about not 100% trusting him is fair enough - that is absolutely me putting words into your mouth.  But I don't think you can fault the conclusion.

You know what Yates, fine. [v]Bender [/v]

Your seem confident in the read and I can't read the slot all that well. I'd rather my vote go to a confident read rather than a least bad option like what I'm on now.

Let's see what happens together.

I was experessi n g a positive read on Besie, whom I have never played with before. I said I didn't wanna lynch him cause I couldn't read him D1. If Yates is that confident though I figure what the hell, see what happens.

I'm still not a fan of what Clov has done this game or how he handled you. Thing is, it's not enough to lock scum him. At best the lowest read I have, Clov, is null to scum. So I decided to give my support to someone I think is town who is very confident in his scum read on someone.

Are you not completely absolving yourself from the outcome of lynching Bender here and just putting faith in Yates to be right?

Why is Yates that motivated to get rid of towns?

And then please excuse my language but

I need to finish reading the Yates/Zander thing again

It should really be a fairly quick read. It essentially boils down to this:

Zander claimed to have taken issue with my quoting of the two most recent "seer cover" posts but not including ALL previous peeks, specifically AJ's.
I told him I was just making a general point.
He then accused me of role fishing.
I explained that I wasn't role fishing - I was suggesting that people need to do a better job of shoring up their "peeks."
Zander accused me of dodging his point about ignoring AJ.
I explained that from my pov it was covered when I said I was trying to make a larger point wrt seer cover.
Bessie said I looked overly defensive.
I was perplexed by this accusation so I asked her to extrapolate on her basis for saying this and if she thought that me being defensive was = to me being scummy.
Zander [and now Clov?] took exception to my addressing Bessie's concerns - because she is new??
I believe that Zander is scum and voting me because he thinks people will say "scum Zander will never try voting Town Yates on Day 1!" [which already happened but via the Bessie head]
I don't believe that Town Zander ever votes for Unknown Alignment Yates day 1 for the same reason Town Zander doesn't vote Clov day 1 or expect Town Clov to be alive D3 ever.
At the very least, there is a zero percent chance Town Zander thinks Yates is scum for role fishing.
There was some other ad homonym stuff like OMGUS and a really low blow wrt Dice but that's sort of tangential to the current thread of argument.

Finally - I am concerned that Zander has not reevaluated his position on ANY of his accusations in light of all evidence to the contrary.

Wondering if AJ's right here, the fact that I agree with your arguments against Zander and his arguments against you make me wonder if it's t-t between you

The colour is crap. I'm trying. But I'm learning. I'm very independent and I post what I want IRRESPECTIVE of whether I get permission from him first or not. I won't promise that I won't state my thoughts again. It was just honestly my opinion.

I don't know, BFG. I'm still deciding on Yates. I can at least say that our side of the t-t alliance is correct.

I was thinking more being seen to do so while not being on that team.

....I've read this sentence five times and can't figure out what you're trying to say.

Sorry, I do that and I am trying to get better.

I was thinking that they were being seen to be providing seer cover, while being scum.

I got that much. I just don't understand what you're trying to say by "not being on that team". Aren't you saying they are teammates?

Okay, I am quite unhappy with this Notbob person. Who are you and where are you and ?????? Seriously? If you're gonna play, then maybe play?

ok...has bessie posted?

Yes.

Thanks to Yates.

Also, Where is Pral?

"That team" meaning the villager team, the ones who would need the seer cover.

I did not have a read on AJ.

I do want to mention this however:

I've been keeping a book with everyone in it to keep track of stuff. According to me, and I may have missed something, but according to me AJ was the only one that even hinted at Shad/Sooh to be anything less than town.

Shad has wolfiness about him but I'll let him do his thing for now.

Ftr - you being an obvious villager wasn't the problem in that game. Clearing wolves for bad reasons was the issue. I would prefer you be open because I think we kick arse together as villagers but so long as you're helping me kill the bad guys in the end do it how you please.

Last  thoughts  of the catch up:

About seer cover:

These were my notes from during the night, which I will have to re-evaluate a bit in the light of AJ not being Seer:

Shad, Bender, Yates.

I had Bender in my dark green yesterday, mainly from feeling good about Besie’s confidence, but I’m wondering.

The conversation between Shad and Bender on pages 10/11 looks staged. Shad doesn’t seem to be giving the same scrutiny in his posts this time around, but explains that away early saying that last time he said too much, so now he’s going to be more cautious.

Besie’s coming in and saying Shad/Sooh is town struck me as odd. As a new player, I would imagine she was told to say this by Zander, as would a new player be familiar with Seer cover? (I wasn’t, though I admit I am more oblivious than most, but others needed it pointed out too). Why would Zander tell Besie to say it, and not say it himself? This, coupled with Shad’s change in behaviour and cover for his change in behaviour, stands out.

Plus, there’s Shad’s going for Lenlo earlier than others.

But Sooh/Shad's coming up as Tress' peek makes me feel bad about her as well - having two slots claim the same peek is making my head hurt.

Red definitely crossed my mind too, and it's something I keep coming back to.  I didn't even recognize Besie's post as seer cover at first tbh because she made it right after having a conversation with me.

Why is this even a question??? It's pretty obv I told her to and am trying to get her as involved in the game as I can.  I was explaining to her what it was, why we do it and why I chose who i did.  I thought the seer cover was pretty obv even if I had did it myself the post would have been the exact same.

It wouldn't have been the same, though. You posting your thought vs. Besie posting something you told her to say is not the same thing. One is a natural response, and the other feels strategic.

Yes. Zander taught me about seer cover beginning Day 1. I may or may not have posted that post as seer, but the format was as Zander insisted it should be.

I went back and checked the conversation to see what you were talking.  I didn't pay much attention to it the first time around, because it was fairly meaningless to me.  I really don't care about somebody asking another player's alignment directly, because I have yet to see that be an indicator one way or another.  But as far as I can tell, this is the extent of the convo.

Blom, have you spectated any games before or is this kind of a leap into the dark for you?

Mafia is a game of telling the truth.  You wouldn't lie to me now, would you?

I really dislike lying, Shad. You'll learn this about me in time.

Also wanted to say: I miss your anime girly picture.

Sooh/Shad is town.

Unless you want to get into veggie burgers (scumclaim AFAICT).

The timing of the peek is a little weird - I will fully grant you that.  But it wasn't that long ago I was trying to explain seer cover TO Zander, and Besie is playing her first game.  I think it could very reasonably be explained as inexperience.  So what of the content rubs you the wrong way?

I was reading the thread from the beginning this morning, and it was the little back and forth, and then the timing of the claim, coming from Besie. I don't think Zander was around at that moment, and so I did wonder "Why now? Why Shad? Are they (Shad and Besie) talking together outside of the thread?" It was just a weird feeling.

No. I'm not working with Shad. Even less with Sooh since she's not here.

I'm okay with most of his list but i'm going to move around some of the stuff and bold it.

Honestly Besie I think you just firmly removed your slot from my POE for today.

Replying to a couple things here.  Obviously quote choppage, but it's not really relevant.

To the top part, first, Yates is a very good player - and he's not really the easiest to read, regardless of alignment.  He's good enough as mafia to sound like town early on, and he's a fancy enough player that he'll do things as town that make him seem like mafia.  I (and I assume most people) wouldn't say don't bother trying to read him or anything of that nature...he's just unlikely to be a solid candidate, so if he is mafia, you're probably better served trying to find his teammates early on.

Beyond that, I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at by saying people are protecting him.  I'm assuming this is at least MOSTLY directed at me, given that you're replying to my post, but I actually had him as one of the people I wasn't feeling great about.  If it was just a general "you all", that's different, but then who were you referring to? And what posts did you have in mind?

For the bottom, your point is bad.  I understand why you might feel that way, but you're overlooking a very important aspect.

Curious if someone else can tell me.

I told Zander he should ask me if I'm still alive on D3.  I meant that, and I said it deliberately.  It wasn't a blanket expression that just meant "some other time".

If you're town, I need you trust that I know what I'm doing.
