Holy thread implosion on Mother's Day, Batman.

I'll do my best to catch up tomorrow, but I'll be sparse. I have meetings most of the day.

Slank cover already?

Scummy?

Scum.

it's never difficult to read others if you actually are reading.

.

Are you serious? Cause if this was true there would be no mislynches ever.

you know as well as I do, misslynches aren't so much as reading as it is with jumping the gun, being lead, and flat out missplays.

I disagree. Misreading happens frequently.

game is about communicating reads to make them sharper.

What does that matter?

Makes misreads less likely to effect the lynch.

Yeah sure. You're arguing for a perfect world, I'm arguing for the reality.

to be exact, i'm saying we can make a better world by communicating more, and it's really easy. all you do is read the thread and educate yourself rather than tunnel endlessly. that's how you make misreads temporary.

I've read up but I'm unable to use the quote feature on my computerarrow-10x10.png so I'll just have to link to posts instead, which is a seriously pain. Bare with me. I'm gonna throw in the towel and take my laptop in sometime tomorrow if I can to get it fixed, so I'll be playing mostly on my phone for probably the next few days

Anyway - let me grab the post numbers I need and I'll respond to them in kind. I apologize in advance for the clutter this will probably cause but it's the only way I can really play for now and I hate trying to MQ on my phone.

I don't think you were getting the point of the discussion that was taking place your initial input was completely out of left field. I was contesting that missreads weren't the only reason for misslynches and Krak was disagreeing with the fact that I believe most aren't due to missreads.

yea sili's was the only vote.

Well I can't sleep, so I might as well eat. Sleeping and eating, my two favorite hobbies.

I am leaning voting for Zander, I have not done so because I see others have voted for him and I do not wish to create a runaway wagon which may harm discussion and relieve pressure on everyone else as well.

If the game is multiball, as I understand the term, that means we have a large number of guilty parties.

The discussion will, invariably, die if there are a large number of guilty parties and almost no reason for them to feel under pressure.

What will happen next is easy smokescreening. It is more pro-village to keep the tally low.

But for the record, Zander is my lynch choice today.

Sooh seems villagery, only because I've spoken to her before the game.

I have not a whole lot to read the rest of you based off of.

If you would interact with me more, it would be helpful. Vote me, say why I'm guilty or not guilty, ask me questions, engage in a joke contest, anything.

This is my first advanced game, so I am pretty clueless besides the town and mafia role.

This is an advanced game, meaning you can expect ANY of these, and anything else Darthe decided to throw in here, to be here. feel free to read up on it, so you kow what to possibly expect.

Hi guys. I'm a villager and i have exactly two reads right Now

Sili is probably a villager but I might try getting at him out of spite for voting me every game for no reason.

Based on my perception of seph'sseph's villager/wolf games he flips villager here way more often than he flips wolf

#hotreads

Tell me more about Sili being a villager. I have played with Sili before, but usually I was a wolf, so.

I've only played with him being wolf as well, but from what I've seen, he is sporatic.

I wasn't actually minding what you were talking about, but it seems like it's a case of different words for the same thing.

"jumping the gun, being lead, and flat out missplays." are all ways town can fail to communicate properly. I would also add "being stubborn" to the list though.

This is my first advanced game, so I am pretty clueless besides the town and mafia role.

Multiball means there will be more than 1 scum team. And they have to beat each other as well as Town.

If the game is multiball, as I understand the term, that means we have a large number of guilty parties.

The discussion will, invariably, die if there are a large number of guilty parties and almost no reason for them to feel under pressure.

We may have 1 more guilty party than you would normally find in a game this size BUT that also means each scum team will be smaller in size. So the smaller scum teams make finding scum mates much more difficult than in a normal game PLUS both scum teams have to actually scum hunt to find the other team which, in turn, forces them to post more villagery.

Multiball could also mean this is a recruiting game. So you need to be on the look out for interactions that do a 180. That could be a cop clear or that could be a recruit that got recruited. It's a mess and typically doesn't end well for the Town.

thanks yates. this is way more exciting than a basic game lol. I am not fond of the recruiting however. Could town have a ability like this, or is it usually the mafia?

Recruiting isn't town. It's typically cult, and is sometimes mafia.

I have a better handle on what's going on when I'm a wolf, I am very careful about reading everything to make sure I do not lose by mistake.

You're this confident?

I think you misread my meaning. Lose by mistake as a wolf.

Something about this rubs me the wrong way. It reads to me as 'caught wolf trying to backtrack'

Wow, this actually worked.

I will always buddy tress at the starting of the game regardless of alignment, as you can see most people do.

Ep, so are you just going to avoid my question.

EP quote  "The rest of my points are valid" Can you tell me what points? the only thing you have said is you think my case is a stretch. and you just took back your only other point...

I was the first player to post so there was only one player in the thread "so then there was one" was the most viable statement. Saying it rubs you the wrong way... very poor attempt to cast suspicion.

Also for the record most games with a check in window usually don't start til that is over. If you're going to go after a single individual for something when multiple people are doing it another even admitted they were doing it too, makes you very scummy. So FoS at you, I'll probably be voting you later unless I see something more telling.

If that was those posts intended purpose, why are you defending it here. you are trying to use the mod's quote to make it seem ok to take a back seat.
This statement reads to me that you were not planning on doing much of anything for another  30 hours? or whatever the timer was at during this post.

nothing was going on so no reads, and nothing to avoid. Maybe I should get you a ladder so you don't pull a muscle with your stretch

I had multiple points not just one, but since you're good at ignoring things let me list them all again.

The first was that your twisting my check-in post to mean anything other than me checking in was a very hard stretch.

The second was you blatantly ignored all the other people who are just milling around not doing anything, including the other person who admitted to doing so.

Third point (this one is new) You are so focused on me you're ignoring everything else in the game a true town player wouldn't focus so hard on a single individual thing.

I'm finally back home and on a computerarrow-10x10.png. Bleh.

EP can you explain why you are calling Seph and I teammates after you just stated that Eldrick (Tress?) was the one you meant? Just curious on your reasoning.

@SIli: I'm "arguing" with Andrej on multiple threads about the name thing, so I think it's not really out of nowhere. I still think your exchange with Eldrick was weird, I'm not calling it scummy, because you're playing particularly pro-town from what I can tell, so I'm not going to dig into something unless I really have reason to.

I did change my mind with Sooh because my brain was mistaken on how many time she had flipped votes (I thought it was three at the time.... meh), but it's not really pinging me anymore like it was. I am going back to look at other interactions though, to see if something else had caught my attention.

@Seph/EP: I believe any kind of posting is okay at this point, especially on the weekend (and Mother's Day), it will keep the thread from dying. So while I don't think we should ignore reads until all people check in, I still think it's good to pay attention to who is just showing up to vote on what they see and who is actively participating while they can.

I disliked your banter, instead of just saying "hey guys call me this" you dragged it out for several pages, almost as if you were intentionally preventing the game from starting. On top of that the fact that Seph blatantly ignored the part where you also said you were just chilling back throws suspicion onto you due to my suspicion on him.

I thought your initial point on Seph was pretty good, but reading this I think you are beginning to stretch here a bit as well. What do you think of his responses? By saying that he is twisting your OP isn't really accurate and I think you're taking that out of context. Also the connection you drew regarding him and Laine I don't think is particularly solid considering the post you're using to back it with. I remember seeing it when she posted it initially and liked it because I agreed with her point that just waiting on everyone to check in wasn't very productive. She had been posting pretty regularly at that point and was interacting with several players, I didn't take it as her straight up agreeing to do nothing.

In the second part it seems like you're starting to piggy back a bit on Sili's points regarding Laine and the name game thing. I also disagree with what you say about preventing the game from starting. Do you think that Seph is simply lying when he said that he missed it after doing his re-reads?

Why don't crabs like to donate to charity?

Because they are shellfish

Get it??

Anyway, your request for engagement shall be met. I followed along with the second half of the Champs game with you and Yates. When I saw that you had signed up here I was excited to get the chance to play with someone new with your type of style and experience. Frankly, I expected you to come out a little harder than you have. I think part of that may be because you are new here and don't know many of us as players, but I get the sense you're sort of slow playing atm. I've noticed you make some comments about players you are familiar with which is cool, but I wouldn't mind you talking more about others even if it's just generalized.

What about Sooh seemed villagery to you?

Overall I can see the point of your statement reguarding runaway wagons. I think your comment about discussion dying if scum don't feel pressured sort of contradicts that point, however, when you are talking about Zander being your top wolf read here but you aren't voting him. Generally I think voting adds more of a real threat to just interrogating someone and find voting patterns to be useful down the road when more information is known and you can look back to see where/when people voted with alignments known. Would you disagree?

What was the point of this?

I said I would vote him if he came back and didn't vote me, being he said he would vote the person that posted after him.

Now that I'm caught up, I see that I have invoked your vote. If you don't vote me when you get back, I will vote you for lying.

I believe in the power of honest players to do the right thing, and I also believe that lies can be useful to generate reactions.

If you choose to vote for me for not voting for you, that will tell me something new about you.

Pleased to meet you!

I didn't leave my vote there, though, because I liked his reasoning for not voting me. He wants to see how I play to help view me. I commend that. It's not scum or town to want to figure out how to read people. My vote wasn't serious, because he did respond. If he had outright ignored it, it would have been a different story.

He has since said something that irked me though, ergo my current vote on him.

Saying Zander is your lynch choice today implies that you intend to move your vote there. It doesn't add up with you calling it a runway train. You're just waiting for the right moment to put your vote on him, and that looks really bad. If you really do think he's scum, there is no reason to not put your vote on him.

Hello Dingus

Nice seeing you again, it's been a while. Does the streak villager rand streak continue??

I'm sort of agreeing with your hot takes here.

Oh Seph...*tsk tsk tsk*

this thunderdoming has gotten to a point of repetitiveness, and makes it difficult to read others.

You are pretty much a lock wolf at this point. That's one of those statements that scum always thinks sounds Towny but pretty much never comes from Town...

Break this one down for me shotgun style here brosef because I don't really follow you.

Posted

you've all been bust this weekend i see. Good, makes it nice to catch up and easier to find suspects.

I'll start reading when i can, weekend is done and was way too short (again)

I see where you're coming from regarding voting the person you call a wolf, Eldrick. I would point out the same with Yates on his lock wolf comment that wasn't followed up with a vote. I'd like to hear from both of these players on it.

Anyway, that sucked. I got my laptop to work for a bit but then it started getting crazy again so I gave up and just quoted from my phone, so my apologies for the multi posting.

There were something other things I wanted to respond to but I'm just going to summarize instead of pulling anymore quotes. Plus it's late and I should've been in bed a long time ago.

The Seph/EP thing strikes me as a convo over much adieu that isn't particularly going anywhere. I could see Seph's perspective regarding EP seeming to float in the beginning of the game as it was something I commented on in passing as well. I liked EP's initial response to him noting that it was weird that Seph had focused on him for the waiting comment when others had also made similar statements. I didn't personally check on this, but now that EP has highlighted Laine's post as an example and is using it to create a link between the two I find it less compelling. Seph strikes me as being genuine when he says that he missed it and I think EP's later arguments are starting to come from a perspective that he has already decided Seph is scum and is now looking for things to fit that conclusion.

Over things of note are that I am liking Dice's posts thus far. The question he raises towards Yates/Monstr is one I would also like to hear more on. Krak seemed villagery in his opener and discussion but I would still like to see more as the game progresses. From my experience he tends to taper off as things get heavier when he's a wolf so that's something I'm going to be watching for.

If I might step in here, because I have a little history with Pizza, I think Pizza is saying he doesn't want to tunnel, to maximize the variety of discussion in the thread. According to pizza, when you have one or two wagons all the discussion becomes only about those wagons, and he, from what I'm gathering, doesn't think that's optimal no matter how likely someone is to flip wolf. He wants to continue poking around with his vote even though he thinks Zander is scum.

I don't see why he can't do that while he has his vote on Zander.

I am starting to get a town vibe from AJ. He is playing the same way he was in the last game.
