Other questions... Ben mentions a Temple... could it have something to do with the four toed statue? I hope it does!

Why isn't Kate in jail? Once a fugitive, always a fugitive.

"I didn't believe him". Ummm Sawyer, you rock!

so I went to the link for the newspaper clipping and you can zoom in a bunch...the body of Je/o ...antham was found in a park.

heh. I love it, I am listening to a podcast from the penultimate episode of Lost and they're pondering the whole Desmond-flash thing, that before Desmond was always there when Charlie almost died, and he always has the opportunity to save Charlie... which is something that had crossed my mind before as well, and I'd just like to extend this run-on sentence to say that I loved the way they handled Charlie's death. Seriously.

It was James Ford who died, I'm pretty sure. Why else would Jack expect Kate to show up there? I can't think of anyone else he would have been so sure about her seeing.

Charlie's death was perfection. And so sad.

what's with the "...antham" then? it looked like a last name. And yeah, I thought it might be him as well.

I forgot to post this last night. Am I crazy, or did Jack tell the new chief of surgery to go find his father and see if he's any less drunk during the Flash Forward? And he tried to use a prescription pad of his fathers as well for his pain meds. How is that possible?

Damn I wish I didn't read the spoilers. I think it would have a been a lot more fun to watch that episode if I didn't. Lesson learned! No more spoilers for me =)

My question about Charlie's death though is why didn't he get himself onto the other side of the door? He had more than enough time to do that before the grenade went off. Was it to try to save Desmond who was running full on to see his precious Penny? If that was the case he could have tackled him or something and the two of them could have swum back to the surface after the explosion. In either case I'm sad he died. He was one of my favorite characters on the show.

Now I'm wondering when the show is going to pick up again? If it will be from the point where they are getting off the island or if it will start from the point where Jack met Kate. Gotta say I hope they don't screw up next season after leaving us with such an awesome cliff hanger.

BTW anyone care to guess who the mysterious "He" was that Kate mentioned. My first thought was Sawyer, but it's a little too obvious for this show, plus if it was they probably would have come out and just say his name.

I was thinking maybe he was so high that he didn't remember his dad was dead... I couldn't tell if the other doctors expression of pity was for not remembering or for just generally being in such a sorry state.

My bet is on either "he" or the funeral being Sawyer. That threesome is tied together too intricately for me to believe that he wasn't mentioned in the flashback in some way.

Also, there was a larger clipping photo, and you can read something about "a beam" and the loft the dead man was found in. I'm guessing it was one of the Losties and he hung himself, just as Jack is trying to kill himself. Maybe they really were needed to be taken out of the space-time continuum, so they are starting to kill themselves off??

I guess John Locke would be pretty suicidal after leaving the island. He sure was fond of it, since it cured his paralysis and all.

But, yeah, it doesn't match the ...antham part.

So do we have a list of Losties' full names to comare it to?? Starts with a J, ends with an "antham" or something similar-looking? We know it's a man who lives alone in a loft in New York...

In terms of where we will start next season, I'm guessing we will stay in the current island-time, but continue to flash foward until the Current timeline meets up with the Flash-forward timeline.

I think he did it because he was prepared to die. He had made peace with it and so he didn't even think of saving himself. He only thought of keeping the rest of the station from flooding. It was his moment of selflessness, of clarity, or whatever it is that some of the losties seemed to need to acheive before they died.

Charlie figured he would have to die to ensure Claire got off the island.

I saw the next season comprise of the losties off the island and flashbacks to what happened on the island and how they got off.

The season after that will have the Losties trying to get back to the island. I say they rent a boat... Jack can be the skipper and Sawyer can be Gilligan....

1. It's a little bit weird for a random death in New York to show up in an LA paper

2. My money's on Locke NOT leaving the island. He would do his damndest to stay, as would Rousseau and probably a few others I'm thinking there could/would be flashes to what happens to the people left behind. There are a lot of mysteries left on the island after all.

Why can't Jack just get to the island if that's what he wants? Is it hidden again? Is it forbidden? Or does he think having another air plane crash into the island would just be that much cooler?

Yv - I agree that Locke and probably Rousseau are still on the island. I doubt anyone forced them off. Also, someone needs to stay and find out what/who Jacob is, and why Richard hasn't aged in 50 years at least.

Hax - from the maps Jack had spread out everywhere in his residence, I'd say that somehow they still don't know where it is. I don't know how they don't know where it is, since the Naomi's boat found it to pick them up, but that's the only explanation I can think of for Jack's map quest.

I also think Jack doesn't know where the Island is. Here's a thought though. Maybe the Island moves. It does seem to be alive. That would explain why flight 815 was found (or maybe only the tail section) and no one was found alive. It could also explain where the polar bears came from (the island was up north at one point and then moved south) and why no one else seems able to find the Island.

The few forums I read came up with an entirely new name for the mysterious obituary man - someone that may be an Other or a new character from season 4. Since it seems to be Jo/a.... ingham and no one we know goes by that name. Could be JACOB, too, I guess. (But, am I the only one that thinks Jacob could be a figment in Ben's mind come to life? )

Ok, and Jack is a MESS! He's so pissed that he cant tell one reality from another - hence the mentioning of his dad. He really regrets leaving, but Kate doesnt. She doesnt seem happy, tho - unless she's just feeling pity for him. So maybe some of the Losties - like the couples + Kate - will be happy at home, and others - Jack, Locke, etc - will not be b/c in the island they became someone great.

I really wanna know what's up with this Naomi chick, and what Ben has been trying to protect all this time.

Naw, I doubt the dead person was Sawyer. I mean Kate loved him and would have at least attending his funeral. He also has offspring that may have come. Also I think Jack would have said he was a friend...

Do you think Kate will be sent to jail when she gets back?

Also, the island has clearly been a secret for a really long time. My bet is that Naomi and her peeps were looking for the island on purpose, perhaps planning to exploit it's resources, they would likely have a vested interest in keeping the outside world from knowing more about it.

The person that is dead has a first name that starts with a J followed with what looks like an O. It looks like the last name is ntham. One wild theory is that this is Jeremy Bentham. Why? I think people are grasping at straws... according to his wikipedia, Jeremy's main influences were John Locke and David Hume.... or as we know him Desmond David Hume....

I am thinking this will be a major player we have not been introduced to yet....
