Rincewind leant precariously out of the window, broomstick in hand, as he carefully poked at the book perched on the ledge. As predicted the book snapped at the broom and amongst the sound of splintering wood he heard

KNOCK KNOCK

Rincewind screamed as he lost balance, dropped the broom, in his peripheral vision he saw the cowled figure of Death perched on the other side of the window, just as a freak wind blew him away from the pile of straw he’d been falling towards and into a patch of thorns.

Seconds after landing he sidled out, picking out the deepest of the thorns and looked around. Death now sat upon Binky

Death seemed to almost hesitate before continuing DEATH, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO ASK WHOSE THERE, TO WHICH I RESPOND DEATH AND YOU SAY

The latter question was addressed to the hard thwack of Rincewinds sandals on the hard dirt and the flapping of his cloak as he sprinted for the relative safety of the alley¹

 

Death sighed, he’d been working on jokes as a way to make himself seem more approachable as he’d recently noticed, and taken to heart², that nobody was ever pleased to see him.

 

¹ Rincewind had long understood that over short distances a desperate man will always be able to outsprint a horse as they have fewer legs to sort out.

² such as he had, anyway

I really would if I wasn't already signed up to the Firefly game and having to deal with the game I'm currently modding. I like smaller games.
