Hehe.  Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the assistance - many players aren't around on weekends, so it isn't just me.  If you massage the deadline to not be on a weekend, I'm more than happy about it.  If you're not able to for whatever reason, then it's on me to make sure I'm there for the deadline.  I have no problems with this approach - it's the way I've played mafia since 2007......and no mod has yet complained about it to me.  So I'd say it works just fine.

Bull.  I'm not around on weekends.  That's it.  I don't know where you get your "more than 2-3 days" crap, but you can sit on that and spin.

If Nolder had not moved deadlines, I would still have met them.  I was following the game.  When a deadline comes over a weekend, I try to pop on for a min to do whatever I need to (PM the mod, post on the QT, whatever).

Of course I'm not a major transgressor.  I'm not a transgressor at all.  You might want to stop now before you make a greater fool of yourself than you've already done in this thread.  Jesus, just when I start to like you again.......you pull crap like this.

Amazing.  Like you're actually trying.

Votecount

Goldeneyes - Wombat, Pral (2)

Pralaya - Ishy, BFG, Goldeneyes (3)

Not voting: Verbal

With 6 alive it takes 4 to lynch.

Deadline: Tuesday at 9AM PST

Deadline extended by 1 hour.

I hope you make good use of it.

I'm not interested in voting Pralaya at this time.

Vote: GE

Lookit these posts Verbal, and quit being so defensive. Your vote came AFTER the original deadline. Nol extended it, allowing your vote to count. Before showing up at the last second, or really after the last second, your last post came on the friday before I believe which was the 13th. So you were gone for four days essentially, and without a last second deadline extension you would have missed the lynch. I'm not making stuff up man.

And if I wanted to, I could dig up other times in the past you disappeared for multiple days. In a game not too long ago, you actually missed a few phases in a row. Granted, they went by fairly quick, but still you were gone for a good bit. Overall I don't have a problem with your contribution in games bro, so chill out. But don't act all indignant about never being gone for a while, cause it's happened. Hell, I go a lot more inactive when I'm off for my 5 days in a row, I know one or two times I forgot to post at all during the period. I've missed deadlines before because of essential negligence. I'm not perfect either. Was just pointing out that Nol was kinda using a double standard (which he admitted to). Stop acting like I'm attacking you.

I think you have more of a perception that Verbal is absent when he actually isn't.

This guy is a lurker and if you don't engage him and force him to talk he'll post like once per game day and slide through to endgame.

Unlike you who wont shut up! (I'm not complaining, just joking :P)

Could be true. Then again I'm not a big fan of lurking either.

But, I suppose it can be said that I might post a bit too much at times. I suppose there is a happy medium somewhere. Not saying I'm gonna change soon, as I don't see Verb changing any time soon, but still.

Not sure I'd classify myself as a lurker, either.  I'm consistently in the top 25% of posters in all games I'm in, assuming I'm not dead early.  Lurkers are at the bottom of post counts.

I'm not saying I don't post fluff - I do - and a lot of it on purpose.  But I take serious issue with being called inactive by people who post less than I do.  I don't care if it isn't meant to be personal - call it my hot button for making me go emo if you want.  Low activity was an aspect of my early career mafia gaming that I took great strides to change......and I haven't been anything close to that in years.

I do, however, lurk on the weekends.  THAT I'll readily admit to.  I'm not able to really sit down and start posting over the weekend, so I lurk a bit to make sure I don't have a huge catchup to do Monday morning.

I don't miss multiple phases in a row.  I never have, and I never will.  If a day goes by within a span of a few hours, well.....that happens to lots of people.  No need to even mention it.

Are we done now?

Are we done? I have not yet begun to wot.

Jking Verb

I can understand a bit about lurking when off- I might not have enough time to post and fully state my feelings at that time, but can try and sort of stay up to date in the meantime. I actually like taking these breaks from games every now and then, kinda like letting a pot simmer a bit and coming back to see if it tastes different (when I fully catch up again back at work)

It's generally anti-town as it keeps other players from being able to develop reads about you, and lurking means you're not actively contributing towards catching scum.

Town could still easily pull out a victory with all the players posting nonstop and being wrong a ton but still generating discussion.

It would be MUCH harder for town to pull out a victory with nothing but lurkers.

don't be silly, I lurk all the time and I still post my butt off.

Those two things are pretty much mutually exclusive. If youre posting your butt off, you ain't lurking. Not posting everything on your mind isn't lurking as there can sometimes be advantages to withholding thoughts or opinions on something to see other's reactions first. Outright lurking is posting the bare minimum or below it, but still following the thread (ie responds when called out for inactivity immediately)

I disagree with everything you say and moreover do not like being directed on play style. and no I won't cite reasons or quote bupkis.

##vote Desiree

I'd rather screw up doing my own dumb thing.

and this whole trend ppl seem to have of dictating what's pro town and anti town and how this or that should be done strikes me as kinda communist and stuff.

but Merry Christmas

I know that it comes off as preachy and controlling at times, but it is true that there are generally protown ways to play, and generally antitown ways to play. There's actually still a lot of leeway in there believe it or not for very different playstyles, but there are still some benchmarks. Omgusing your way through every game will get you no where, same with never giving reasoning for votes and stuff, or other things like that.

And fwiw, I see virtually no problem whatsoever with the way you play. You have excellent instincts and are articulate in expressing them. Your activity is more than suitable for any game and you do a good job of getting your thoughts heard.

why thank you des that's very kind.

tho I think the moment something becomes generally understood it is no longer effective.

I would like to see more chaos and confusion in games. logical play is very boring to watch and very predictable.

and a happy new year

Chaos and confusion tends to distract town and leads to more mislynches. Don't get me wrong, when I'm scum I love seeing people play antitown hehe.

And there's still plenty of wiggle room for diff styles and strategies. I don't like to tell people how to play, but if someone is playing generally antitown I'm going to mention it.
