Lots of them. Is that so hard to believe?

Can you list some specific ones? I'm actually curious.

I can think of one offhand. Back in EotW18, the group who left Emond's Field with Moiraine and Lan have a battle with Trollocs, one of whom pulls Mat off his horse using a catchpole which grabs him by the neck..

For example, the foreshadowing that Moiraine would marry Thom. It was abundant, but most casual readers missed it.

So I feel compelled to ask:have any "theories" about foreshadowing been proven correct as of yet?

Off the top of my head - Rand wakes up after bringing Tam to town (After the first attack from the Trollocs) and his side where the never healing wounds are inflicted is stiff and in pain from his sword jabbing him when he sleeps;

Leane after her first meeting with Perrin says - next he'll be wearing a crown and speaking in high chant. We are told he'll be a king.

While still in the Two Rivers - it is said that Matt is the only one of them interested in stories of battles.

Moraine thinks early on that Egwene can rise to the seat of Amyrilin. This is not long after leaving the Two Rivers.

There's more, I'd have to think about it.

Yeah, there's also something Matt says about hanging early on, I forget. In his offhand irreverent way.

Ah. Reading through I see: he doesn't think anyone's foreshadowing theories on the boards have come true.

Whatever. It's always fun to speculate, and nobody will know until we've read if any of the new theories are correct.

Never said I didn't think, I was asking were there. I was curious.

Awesome thanks.

1) I never noticed, but I recall that now

2) I thought that was a prophecy. Part of the Prophecies of the Dragon or whatever

3) Again, totally missed that one. Cool.

4) Didn't someone say it about Ny too. Suian I believe.

But all in all, thanks!

Totally missed this completely. I've been looking around for it in my reread, I don't know when or how he suddenly fell in love with her (Although everyone in these books seem to fall in love suddenly). The only part I can find is when he asked Mat (Or was it Rand) if Moriane was with him, because she was a fine looking woman (Or something to that effect.

There were several clues about Thom and Moiraine, but the most blatant one (and more along the lines of what this thread is about) was this one:

"I could wager I know the face of the man I will marry better than either of you knows that of your future husband."

And that was buttressed by some flirting in chapter 17.

I recall that, but I remember her explaining it away the same scene. I tried to make it fit, but it wouldn't in my head. I was hoping for more than that. (I actually finished that scene 2 days ago, and read it for 15 minutes straight trying to glean some hidden meaning...)

The first hint that Moiraine found Thom "attractive" is in the Eye of the World. She was delighted by his effort to intimidate the Taren Ferry ferry owner. That was the only moment in the whole book she laughed; and it was genuine. But that minor hint was put in perspective after reading her letter to him.

I thought Eggy laughed with delight?

Trying to. She used the word 'perhaps', and it was obvious she was covering her slip.

I was hoping for more than that.

Like I said, there is more; that's just the most blatant foreshadowing. Combined with chapter 17.

Here is the quote:

"A low, delighted laugh floated from Moiraine. Egwene clapped as if watching a performance at Festival, ....."

I'm rereading book 4. Perrin just rescued the Luhans and the Cauthons from the Whitecloaks. Here's my idea as far as foreshadowing is concerned:

Min saw trees around Perrin in book 1

Leeane (I think it was her) said soon he'll speak in high chant - in Sheinar Book 2

Faile was weaving flowers in his beard and on his saddle in book 4

Perrin will be part of bring the land back to life Ogier/Children of the Dragon style in A Memory of Light

The seanchan officer who told Mat that maybe one day he would be giving her orders. Kinda waiting for Mat to take controll over those seanchan forces in the last book?:D Not sure if this was a good example but the only thing I found atm.. :)

Another piece of backwards foreshadowing - The Shadow Rising - returning from hunting trollocs to the two rivers - the boys start to sing, everyone joins in, Perrin doesn't. Says he croaks, doesn't sing.

He's a singer.
