Please help. What role are they tacking in Tarmon Gaidon ?

We really don't know. Graendal kidnapped their two rulers and that along with the coming of Rand plunged them into civil war. We don't know if the war is still happening or if they are unified once more or even if the Shadow has a hold there.

In KoD we see a Sharan in the inn Rand and Co. temporarily stop by in Tear. He could either bee a refugee of the civil war or a spy for a coming invasion or simply just a merchant.

Shara is where silk comes from, I think, which is an important material for the women's dresses, which is a very important part of the story. There is every indication that a smoothing of skirts will be the linchpin to sealing the bore. That's my theory.

LOL! One of the best posts I have ever read...

I really hope they do something. If TG and the Dark One etc are supposed to be the bane of all humanity (and conversly the Dragon the saviour of all), then if Shara (and the Seanchan on Seanchan for that matter) don't contribute in some way to the final struggle, and don't face some ill effects of the final battle, it will detract from the supposed all-consuming epicness.

There has been past speculation about Shara's role in Tarmon Gaidon.

I now see these possibilities::

-They not coming at all.

-They acting as spectators.

-They acting like merchants/business-people.

-They attacking both sides.

-They fighting with the Light side.

-They fighting with the Dark side.

-They fighting against themselves.

One more possibility - They could come and make all the women some silk dresses to wear to the last battle.

I think Shara, like the Land of the Madmen, was something Jordan threw in for worldbuilding. I doubt we'll ever see heavy interaction from them--my pet theory is that Demandred will induce them into invading the Waste in an attempt to draw the Aiel away from Rand at the last moment, but if so this will be happening largely off screen.

Well, technically Graendal kidnapped the two puppets that the Ayyad used to rule with--people suggest this as the first step in their civil disturbances, but I've always wondered--I mean the Ayyad allow very few people direct access to the Sh'boan and Sh'botay. Surely they could have covered it up--I mean, given the 7 year cycle of rule and death for the Sharan rulers there must have been somewhere in excess of 42,000 of them since the Breaking--surely at least a couple have died unexpectedly, even if the Ayyad knows healing.

Personally I think it more likely the the extreme repression of the working classes combined with rumours of the Dragon and all bonds being broken and the like is what led to it (I'm not dismissing Demandred's involvement, mind. Just that if he was it would have been easy).

So the people of Shara have been making silk that constantly wrinkles. This in turn forces all the woman of the world to constantly smooth them. Which distracts them from focusing on the last battle. Making it easier for the shadow to desroy them. If my theory is true then, that is the most dasterdly plan ever.
