The wheel weaves as the wheel wills

I've been going through the series again and this keeps coming up. The first time through I didn't think to much about it, but now it kind of bothers me. You have three Uber Ta'veren and a whole lot of prophecies. So, why does everyone keep trying to "lead them on the right path." JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE!!! it will all work out.

If Moiraine had thought everything could just work out on its own she wouldn't have ever even sought the Dragon Reborn, and Rand would have died in Emond's Field.

There's no guarantee of victory or the fulfillment of prophecies.

Ugh I have to say "the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills" and all the other fortune cookie comments Moiraine comes out with in the early books is one of the main reasons I don't like her. Everytime something happens it's "oh, it's obviously part of the Pattern" "Egwene turned up just before we left, so it's part of the Pattern that she comes with us. She has to come!" "Oh a fly has landed in my soup. It must be part of the Pattern! It's meant to be so I can't fish it out!"

Well, it's not all entirely literal. It's often said as just an expression, too.

Rand would not have necessarily died at Emond's Field. That is one of the many outcomes in the pattern. For all we know the three boys could have done all they needed to with out Moiraine even showing up. After all, "The wheel weaves as the wheel wills."

And what makes you think the Wheel wasn't willing Moiraine to travel to the Two Rivers and bring out the ta'veren? This is argument is ridiculous on several levels.

Maybe Moiraine was being fish-hook'd! Verin and Mat feel pulled to do things in the later books, they can feel the Pattern willing them to do certain things and go certain places, I think it's perfectly plausible Moiraine felt something similar to this, when near three of such strong ta'veren, although she probably didn't know exactly what it was, just that it was the right path.

It's the Ta'veren influence. They do what needs to be done.

Leading them might have been the Pattern's role for those people.

Rand would not have necessarily died at Emond's Field.
That many lives Portal stone trip seems to indicate that he (and nearly ever other resident) could have died if he stayed.
