Think of me what you will, but I believe that Masema is actually one of the forsaken in disguise. that would explain the followers being so loyal, with Masema in total control.

He could make it where he can disguise his ability to channel. I think maybe that Masema is actually Demandred in disguise. Just being Masema would be doing what the DO ordered with his command of let the lord of chaos rule. It would also explain why Masema is leery of anyone channeling, trying to have Perrin killed, as Moridin ordered. It would also explain why he is stalling on going to Rand.

It would be the perfect set up for him, no one would expect it. He's got very feverish, almost compulsed followers. It fits to me, anyone else biting on this?

Surely you can't be serious?

(Of course I'm serious and stop calling me Shirley!)

Masema can't be Demandred for the same reasons that Mazrim Taim isn't Demandred. He was around long before Demandred was freed from the Bore and had the feverish "The Lord Dragon is the Light made flesh!" look immediately after Falme. Just in case either of those wasn't enough, RJ has come right out and told us that we have not seen Demandred's alter-ego in the series yet!! Arrrggghhh!!!

Sorry, I had to get that off of my chest.

Relax a little there. It was just a thought, and one none of us would see coming. As for it being possible, sure it could. How hard would it be for Demandred to kill the real Masema off, and use illusion to assume his identity? We have seen others of the Forsaken use that effectively. It was just a thought, nothing to get that kind of reaction.

I appologize. I sometimes forget that the person on the other end of the post can't see the big grin on my face when I post stuff like that. I was being sarcastic' date=' tryng to ilicit a chuckle. (hence the [i']Airplane![/i] reference)

Either way, there's still no way that Maseema can be Demandred.

Well, it was just a theory. would you agree that it is entirely possible that the man is at least controled by Demandred? it would fit to me.

I just seem to remember that Moridin ordered Mat and perrin to be killed by the other forsaken. Then shortly thereafter Aram tries to kill Perrin under Masema's influence. I can't wait for the last book. there are so many different intrigues and loose ends, that I can't wait to see how everything finally comes out.

Now that would make a bit of sense especially considering that it is known that Demandred likes to work through proxies. It might make some sense that he took an already unstable Maseema and pushed him over the edge so he became the Prophet. So yeah, maybe he is having his strings pulled by Demandred or one of the other Forsaken. It's certianly plausible.

Unfortunately RJ has stated that we have not seen Demandred's alter-ego on screen. I could buy into Demandred controlling him... Masema does display some signs of the effects of over-use of compulsion... though we must be wary not to credit the shadow too much. Masema could have easily done everything his down on his own, out of a genuine desire to do good.

The subject of whether or not a Man can detect another mans ability to channel has resurfaced in another topic... Gentling/Stilling ; healing by Man or Woman ; % of Power

The "Experts" in this Topic have declared that a Man can Detect another mans ability to channel as easily as a woman can detect another womans ability to channel...

According to Kaznen in the Topic "Gentling/Stilling ; healing by Man or Woman ; % of Power"

"Dashiva" wasn't stronger then Taim and Narshima's power was still growing. And I don't think the men can hide their strength like women. Remember, men can't sense each other like women. A man need to be close to another man siezing the source for them to even know the other CAN channel.

and I agree with him on this;

so if this is true then YES Masema could be a Wilder who channels Spirit COMPULSION to get people to be Blind obediant Followers,,, and the Asha'man with Perrin can not detect his ability because he does not subconciously channel around them,,, and that explains why Perrins Tinker friend tried to kill the wolf king, COMPULSION...

Firstly, men can sense other men channeling just fine. They just can't do it to the degree women can. If Masema were wielding the power in such a manner then it would be uncontrolled, and it would have to be incredibly frequently if it were to control a group of people numbering in the thousands--something that is most probably impossible anyway. It would have been detected by the Asha'man long since. All of which has already been said.

Then lets not forget the problem that if Masema were a wielder, given his age he would have been channeling for nigh on a century, and would be long since dead from the taint. Even if he sparked at 30, the latest a man can possible spark, then with the slowing he would still have had to have lived for decades too look his age.

Luckers

I have stated here that I believe that Masema's ability was triggered by others , I think Rand did something to him but others have said they believe it could be a Forsaken using him,,, and as to the need to constantly use the COMPULSION Weaves to maintain control of his followers, NO, he would not need to constantly re-enforce the compulsion,,, and also he does not even need to have compeled everyone of his followers,,, many of his followers only serve him out of Fear, and others are decidedly very wicked and evil men on their own without compulsion and they are enjoying their posistions and power within the ranks of Masema's army(which has been conserably reduced after the battle with the Aiel),,, so all Masema had to do was use the Compulsion on those that had close personal contact with him, of course I say he did it without knowing what he did , but certainly he would only do it when he was directly dealing with an individual he was trying to persuade to join his delusion and be his friend...

So, no he would not have accidently used his power anywhere near an Asha'man,,, not being ingaged in any proslitizing at the maments he was near them,,, and he was only near the Asha'man when using the gates, Masema's camp was a good distance away from Perrins camp...

Dude seriously..

What he is trying to say is that someone cannot be triggered after a certain age and someone else(even the DR in this case) cannot just suddenly make him channel. And to my earlier statment if he could channel the AM would know.Your can either learn to use to power or your a wilder meaning its inborn in you and you get along by yourself. And like before,it usually comes out before the age of 25 so dude... get your facts straight... And as for Aram a Darkfriend hah! ya right. He just had nothing to believe in simple.I honestly think your just looking for attention.
