Csarmi, I was trying to reply to you earlier -- I wasn't ignoring you, I promise. Messaging is all in a flux right now, I guess, due to the redesign.

Anyway, I had an idea. This might work for others who are having a hard time getting the prologue, especially outside the U.S. The B&N Nook PC app has a feature where you can lend your copy to another user who also has the nook app. You can download the app for free from Barnes and Noble. All the lender needs, apparently, is the borrower's email address as used to register for the app. After 7 or 14 days or something the book automatically goes back to the lender, unless sent back earlier by the borrower. I don't know if Amazon Kindle version has a similar feature, but I'd be willing to loan out my copy of Distinctions.

@ Owayn,

"Ive just tried that now as well. Seems to have worked, had to change my address though lucky as I was in america for a while so I used that address. As for book depository, yeah have used it before for Paul Kearney's Hawkwood series, it twas cheap 15 euro for 6 books. Way of Kings is priced as 36euro in hardback sold out of paperback. Is it good or rather is it worth paying that much?"

I never thought I often send items to family in Canada, so I have a North American address associated with my amazon account, that might have been why I had no problem with distinctions.

As for Way of the Kings, all I know is that I paid £17 inc. P&P (though P&P was free), that was worth it for me, especially since I didn't fancy waiting until December for the book. I still haven't finished the book however, about 770 pages in and enjoying it. And, it has been widely noted that the action and awesomeness dramatically increase in last 200 or 150 pages.

As for the unavailability of the paperback, this won't be printed for another year, paperbacks always the lag hardbacks by about a year, as the hardback is the premium version. (A bit like DVDs not usually being available whilst a film is still playing in the cinema)

Distinctions was good but one of the reveals really p*ssed me off.

Just thought I would let you know I got a response from Orbit re: prologue availability:

"Many thanks for your enquiry. We will not be selling the prologue in the same way as the US publisher. However, it is likely that we will soon be releasing a short extract of the book for free online at www.orbitbooks.net Please keep an eye on the site for any announcements."

How silly the book people are about release date on the sale of books around the world. Within 24 hours of any book being released u can practically Guarantee you will be able to Download the ebook or audiobook off the Internet for free. I don't like it but its a fact of life. Can we do anything about it. I think all companies that deal in this sort of thing are trying their best but it is like the waves on a beach they just keep coming.

Piracy has been around for a long time and I'm sure it will be around a little longer.

Me I'm hoping to get the two books I have pre-ordered before Christmas. Just imagine waiting four to five weeks after the book has been released before reading it. I'm hoping that one of the books is a sign one by BS from his Towers of Midnight book tour.
