Chapter Titles (Full List In Order From The Book)

I'm actually hoping it's a short little chapter of Lan with his band of followers just entering the Blight, or just outside Tarwin's Gap, eating some rabbit, and then Shadowspawn come pouring down on them in the night. Lan draws his sword, and it begins.

Since we have gotten all of the chapters but 54, I am thinking that the title is too spoilerific to mention on the forums. Terez ruled out the possibly amazing chapter title "A bath fit for a queen" so that leaves us to wonder. Perhaps we could get a hint to who the chapter's POV(s) is(are)? I am very tempted to go straight for that chapter when the book is released (I have no illusions about being able to get an advanced copy myself) just to find out if it is a Mat chapter or not since it seems that it is probably a very eventful chapter.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the heartbreaking event that happens in chapter 49 has nothing to do with the title. We have had chapters in the past that have had eventful things in them yet the name of the chapter was a reference to someone else's POV. The reason I am going out on a limb with this one is that neither Mat nor Perrin really have any reason to be in that city. Sure it could be another character and maybe I am just engaging in wishful thinking but my gut instinct on this feels pretty strong.

Oh and I think that the chapter title Foxheads will have something to do with Mat fighting the Gholam or Elayne making more Foxheads. As for which legend dies, perhaps it will be in a figurative sense (no longer a legend) or someone who is a legend will actually die. The most likely candidate considering that it is right before a chapter almost certainly involving Mat is Birgette. I don't think she actually dies (that would have been a chapter like 54 that wasn't posted if that happened), but perhaps her last memories of previous lives fade away.

Remember that according to Terez, most of these chapers have multiple points of view in them, thus further confusing the issue.

A "heartbreaking" chapter that doesn't involve tragedy for the major characters seems to isolate Birgitte pretty well. Could be that we get to see ultimately her final and permanent separation from Gaidal Cain which would be pretty darn sad. She may not even die. As stated, just completely lose her memories of Cain and herself.

Course there are all sorts of secondary character deaths that would be sad: Amys, Rhuarc, Bashere and his wife, Tam, Master Gill, etc, etc.

this is a spoiler board! i come here to be spoiled! gimme! gimme! gimme!

(holds breath until someone names chapter 54)

/agree. I am so use to getting my manga spoilers and reading exactly what happens in a chapter a day or two before I actually read the chapter. I have read manga chapters without spoilers and with spoilers, and I have to say I don't really notice a difference. But then again I generally reread series (I have reread the WoT series at least a dozen times in these past three years) so perhaps it just because I enjoy reading how a mystery is solved even if I already know the solution. TGS is one of my favorite books in the series and for the most part I knew everything important that occurred in the book before I read it (like Rand using the TP, Verin being BA, ect). So feel free to ruin the story for me in a PM . . .

Back on topic, none of those characters really qualify as "legends" dfchang. Really besides Birgette only Cadsuane, Moraine, and Noal qualify as legends (or in the case of my argument as having legends that can die). Now I am not saying that the chapter titled "A Legend Dies" can't be about Brigette dying, in fact if it weren't for it seeming too obvious (which sometimes things that seem obvious really are obvious) I would have thrown my lot in with that theory. Keep in mind that the gholam is in Caemlyn, wants to kill Mat and maybe still Elayne, and Birgette is the type that would fight a creature she knew she couldn't kill just to save either of them. With the next chapter being titled "Foxheads" perhaps the gholam attacks Elayne, Birgette dies protecting her, and Mat steps in and whacks it with his medallion (leaving more "foxhead" scars on the creature).

Interesting side note, according the the old tongue dictionary the word shan means lord and har means hand. So the chapter Shann'har seems to involve a majordomo ("lord's hand") of sorts.

Just had a random thought, not even saying I think it is right just that it is possible. If one were to look at it from an Aiel perspective, Sorelia is pretty much a legend, or at least as much as any living Aes Sedai is to Wetlanders.

Hmmm I don't know about that, it is possible but I think for someone to be what you would call a legend they have to have stories about them that seem implausible. I don't know if any such stories are attributed to Sorilea.

I'm doing a re-read, and I just read something interesting. In tFoH, Moiraine talks up the Band of the Red Hand, calling them a legend and so on. Mat's men fall while he's at the Tower, maybe? Just an idea I'm throwing out 'cause I want it to be Nov 2nd, darnit.

Might connect to the 'severed hand' Min veiws around Elayne (people speculate that the severed hand is the Band after Mat leaves for Ghenjei).

I expect chapter 54 to be named something like "The King of Saldea" or some such.

Could be, although I doubt it would be that overt. I am guessing that it has something to do with Mat since the chapter after it seems to be one of his. Perhaps "To lose half" or something referring to his loss of an eye.

Yeah ... not much I can think of though that could be a chapter title, but still be a spoiler in-and-of itself.

Somehow I don't think Gawyn is just going to all of a sudden attack Rand after all this time and after everyone he respects and cares for pretty much telling him he would be a fool to do so. He might shake his fist or hurl impotent insults at him, but beyond that I think he will just grumble in the corner.

Seems I was right in an earlier post about chapter 54 being about Mat. I have been told by someone that the title of Chapter 54 is

SPOILER (highlight between these two lines for reveal)

I was told World of Light but perhaps it is a translation from a non-english source for Light of the World. .

/END SPOILER

I need to speculate on things to avoid the spoiler threads--and these haven't come up in a bit. So here we go.

7 - Lighter than a Feather

In my opinion, the first Rand PoV, showing that duty is not lighter than a feather now he is nice again. Not a death, as had previously been suggested. It seems to early for Lan or Rand to die.

10 - After the Taint

No basis for this, but I'm hoping this is the Wise Ones facing the issue of Aiel men who can channel. Dunno why I hope that, and it could easily be half a hundred other things. Still, I hope it.

13 - For What Has Been Wrought

The Essanik title says Rand will 'weep for what has been wrought'. So I'm thinking this is Rand dealing with some of the blow back from his time as a psychopath.

15 - Use a Pebble

Verin compares cleansing the taint as throwing a pebble in a pond. Possibly this is someone using the fact of the Cleansing (or perhaps ignorence about it) to achieve something?

21 - An Open Gate

Trollocs coming out of Waygate to attack the Seanchan.

23 - Foxheads

Plural. Very interesting.

26 - Parley

Rand and the Seanchan? Maybe Egwene and Rand.

27 - A Call to Stand

I'm really hoping this involves removing the Oaths. But perhaps something else, like the call to include men in the White Tower as Aes Sedai or some such.

34 - Judgment

Egwene speaks of her fight against the Seanchan as 'judging them'. *shrug*.

43 - Some Tea

Egwene finding out the truth about Laras. Note the way Verin repeatedly tells Egwene to thank Laras for the tea.

47 - A Teaching Chamber

No idea on this one. What would be referred to as a teaching chamber? Some sinister room in the Black Tower?

48 - Near Avendesora

Aviendha finds something shiny?

49 - Court of the Sun

The name of the Cairheinin Court in the Fourth Age, possibly the name of Elayne's combined Andoran/Cairhienin Court--i.e. her court is the Court of the Sun, and her Crown is the Rose Crown. A gesture to each nation.

50 - Choosing Enemies

I'm feeling the Seanchan here--Fortuona choosing between enemies. I think this will be the fulfillment of the 'Seanchan Woman With a Sword Dream'--Fortuona choosing to fight alongside a besieged Egwene.

51 - A Testing

I feel Nynaeve here, after she learnt the testing weaves.

53 - Gateways

Seanchan employing Travelling for the first times. Seems a bit obvious tho...

Could it be aviendha learned how she did the gateway back then?

I can not remember when or if Perrin has saved Rand a second time as for told. If it hasn't happen I believe it will be Rands POV and switching into Perrin POV and I reckon it will be chapter 30 where it happen in the chapter "Men Dream Here" Chapter 54 will be I believe "Aeelfin & Eelfin"

I like your idea for 43: 'Some Tea' chapter^^. I also like and suspect you're correct on 50 and 53. As for 34 Judgement chapter, it almost certainly has to be the 'Perrin moment' chapter I feel. Judgement just ranks too much of a King oriented chapter. Of course if I'm completely wrong I'll have to giggle when I get there.

I was wrong about 'A Rabbit For Supper' being Tuon eats Mat for supper, so perhaps someone else 'eats' him for supper. I'm pretty sure I know who from what oblisk said in a different topic <.<. Ah well I'm sure there is a lot I will be pleasantly suprised by, but I must admit that some of my hopes were dashed hard about minor little things I was interested in happening/seeing in this book, not really plotwise important just little things about the series I've come to love :(.

I lol @ those that freak out over the Asmo killer reveal, could care less who killed Asmo personally lol. It's like you're in this big room with a 100 people and you get to ask one question that will be answered truthfully and the one question that's asked is, "Who killed Asmo?". *Facepalm* cuz I know that's the one question a lot of people would want to ask if they only got one!

--For Foxheads I like the idea most that it's Mat/Thom/Noal and perhaps various others, banding together and using all their sneaky skills to iron out their plan for Ghenjei.
