Nobody knew for sure who the killer was, but they had to try to pick someone. Othewise, they’d just get picked off like flies. After a lot of back and forth, and CJ all but admitting he was a killer, finally, reluctantly, the group chose Talya. CJ pulled out a gun and finished her off. “I never thought you would ASK me to kill! Sweet!”

 

Talya, Wardrobe consultant, analyzer, town, is lynched.

7. Reyn - Publicist – Town -  P.I. – Receives list of who was targeted for night actions – only the list of names – not whether or not the action succeeded.

 

8. Talya - Wardrobe Consultant – Town - Analyzer: You can look at a lynch ballot and guess how many scum are on it, you will receive a less or more answer.

 

9. Lia - Bus Driver – Weak Doctor – thinks they are just a doc, but if they target mafia, they die

11. JLM - Roadie – Mafia - Ventriloquist - On odd/even days can take over the voice of another player. The controlled player can only post what is PMed to them.

I was screaming at the screen, and wasn't allowed to say a word, lol..Lily knows how frustrated I was. I was going to get Meesh to ask me a set question, something that only we would know, so that is she asked it the next day, if I didn't answer it or answered wrong then it would mean it wasn't me speaking.

 

I had it down to between 4 and then after last night I knew Wombat and CJ were mafia, as I chose that lynch to look at not, the one the mafia went with.

 

I have to say though, I think Red's role is actually more detrimental to the town, with that and the puppeteer there was little chance we were going to win this. I know you don't like that role Lily and I agree, having it do once in a game this size would be fairer or two in a bigger game.

 

Anyway, I'm still cursing from that last day :D

 

We could have won, despite the odds against us, if only people took the time to look at the numbers and at least tested  it. And Red if you had told us that it gave that person a lynch free day it would have helped us with the lynch on CJ

You don't feel it was balanced, Talya? Between you and Reyn, that made up for no finder (especially with YOU in that role! You worked it well.) Then I added one powerful role to each side. Red's role could have made a huge difference toward endgame.

 

I'm still new at balancing my own games. This is the first one I've done on my own. What would you suggest that would have been better?

it would have been more balanced had the power roles been more active and worked together more. 

 

and if the town hadn't lynched two innocents the first two days :D

Red's role is a confusing role, because on one hand you are giving them a chance at something, then you take it away with the vote, and then you make that person unlynchable if they are not lynched. The trouble is that it will make the person with the power look scummy. Meesh was very lucky that she chose the same person as she was given to vote, if she hadn't then it wouldn't have looked good for her.

 

The puppeteer thing is also a powerful role that plays havoc with the Towns, they have no come back from that. My role, I know I had it and I like maths so I could see how to get the best results from it. But if Meesh hadn't had the viewing with the vote (which was a miracle 1 in 11 chance of getting it right), but that helped me. Red's role is something that can easily be manipulated by the mafia, they can take it or leave it, where as the town are looking for ways to help the town and are more likely to take it.

 

To list who was targeted, doesn't give too much info in this game. My role wouldn't have had a name, Lia and the person night killed, all she could confirm was that someone was targeted for something, doesn't give much away, having names that commit night actions would have given something more!

 

Then the Doc, was a bit dodgy too, luckily she didn't choose to protect a mafia!

 

Me and Reyn may have one finder, but you gave a kill and the puppeteer role to the Mafia, thats two big roles, and still only one finder, unfortunately I don't think Red's role is very pro town, as it doesn't really help them at all.

 

Thats just my opinion. but Lily, you had me on the edge of my seat, and I loved playing this game, it really got my juices going. So the things I say above are more to help, and not to make you think you can't do this, I haven't yet played a game of yours that I haven't enjoyed. you do a fantastic job, and we are all learning, me too. I have never had that role before and I can say I prefer that to the finder role, I had a note book with all these notes over the results I got :D

 

So the fact I did that is a compliment to your game...I look forward to your next one :-*

I almost wish I would have picked someone different for Aemon to target on Day 2 instead of the healer, though. Everyone would have been on them so quick you never would have suspected Aemon of being controlled until we NK'd him, lol.

Thanks, Talya. I took it in the spirit you meant it. I asked and you gave me good info. Maybe I should try balancing with regular roles.

 

Poor Aemon. He invented the Ventriloquist. Sweet irony! I believe it's in rewrite now. I won't use it again. It's worse than the freezing power. I'm just trying to find interesting roles for mafia to have.

 

The lynchproof thing on CJ was something I added because of my mistake in what I told Meesh. I shouldn't have said that, and it went public, so I felt I had to give him something to balance it. I consulted DPR, and while he didn't have time to read the game and give me specific advice, he said in situations like that, he adds a twist, so I did. That isn't normally part of that role. I agree now that that role could go either way. Which gives me an idea..... ;D

 

My trademark is to expect the unexpected, and I want to keep that going. Not having the traditional roles is fun, I think, but there really is no substitute for Doc. Next time, I'll pile on more investigative roles and maybe have some of them mason together. The problem with that is that it raises the odds of the scum being able to immobilize them by taking out one member. Hmm... thoughts and ideas abound....

 

Thanks, guys, for putting up with my crazy game. I had tons of fun. I wish that Themed queue would get moving. I have a real treat in store for you when that comes up.  ;D

man i didn't expect the lynch to have gone already, get home from dinner and it's already done.  wombat had me fooled, i thought he was innocent which is why i choose to give him the contract Night 3. 

 

i was unsure about both meesh & Talya, i was sure one of them was mafia, but i couldn't decide who; so i was off there as well. 

 

Meesh because of the coincidence between the vote CJ thing and her having happened to view and find him scum.  i didn't know if it was actually just happen stance or a gambit.

 

Talya, i didn't find you scummy until you started to play into the bit of framing the scum tried to pull on my with Wombat.  i knew it was a frame job targeted at me cause of that typo, CJ pointing it out was a dead give away he was part of it.  but Talya you played into it by furthering the FOS at me which made me think you were behind it as well.

because i wasn't informed of that bit. otherwise i wouldn't have voted for him and would have tried to sway you guys away from it.

 

 

i think the ratio of Town to Mafia was good.  with the town only having 4 roles and the mafia only 1 this is also good.  seeing as the maifa only had  one role, i understand why Lily made it such a power player. 

 

i do agree with Talya about the Contract giver, depending on the one-shots, having a vote controlled can do alot of bad for the town.  other than that, you run into the same risk as a Doubler when it comes to who gets the contract.

 

it's kinda iffy on the roles, i like the idea of a weak healer in this game, especially with it being a fast mafia.  i think the only real offset was that there was no actual finder. 

 

 

do you think it would have been better if Talya's role and Reyn's role were on a sibling or lover's team?  preferably lovers since combined they are a bit powerful.

Guys, I think you are confused--CJ's lynch failed not because he wasn't lynched when Red told me to vote for him, but as a twist to balance the mistake Lily made by telling me random.org had put CJ in a scum team.  Lily felt bad that I knew for sure CJ was scum outside of just my finding result, that she had told me that outside of the official Mod PM, and as a way to balance that she let CJ have a lynch-free day, I guess.  I was all set to tell you guys I'd made it up, or was mistaken about Lily telling me that, but Lily told me it was all right, she'd balanced her mistake, it's all good.

 

And then CJ didn't get lynched. :D  So I knew that was what she did to balance it.

Whoa, I'm gone for a little while and...boom. I knew Tayla and Red were town >.< I waited too long on my re-read and forgot the deadline. I probably would have voted for JLM but it wouldn't have mattered with lynch votes on two townies. >.<
