Blue and White Heads have returned and picked up their duties

Taei (tech wizard) has made sure all our stuff is moved from Raeyn’s Wiki site to the new one. She’s also updating the bios to there

 

To Do:

 

Make sure bios are stored at Wiki site regularly (Taei has volunteered)

Get the member list perfect, and members + characters for each Ajah + MoN sorted out - finish

Find out what the members want / would like / need - continue with that

*** finish the *** weave descriptions already

Send the received Sangreal etc submissions to Owen & Tay

Bump the thread asking for said submissions to see who shakes loose

Main character Bios (Claire IS busy with them)

Get even more RP ideas started … get even more RPs started! (has picked up)

Revamp the Ajah Head System

Finalise various discussions on Weapons Training, and others that were started in the past few months.

 

All in all, things are definitely picking up  ;D

Ok so there you have an example of a report. I'd like to concentrate for now on the statistical info I gather from you guys, to give through to the admins:

 

Statistics:

 

How many MEMBERS there are this month (up or down from previous)

How many CHARACTERS there are this month (up or down from previous)

 

Then we break down MEMBERS and CHARACTERS into Active, Inactive (not done anything in past 3 months), and on LoA. I'm supposed to purge people who are MiA (inactive for longer than 12 months).

 

I also need the following info:

How many new members joined (up or down from previous)

How many new Bios were approved / re-approved (up or down from previous)

How many people returned after an absence (MiA) (up or down from previous)

 

 

What I need from you in order to do this:

 

Firstly, let me tell you what I do:

 

I have a list of members and their characters in excel, though it's not complete. Each month, I put in their when they last RPed with each character. I can sort it any which way I want, and that's how I work out into which category of activity people fall.

 

If you as Head have done your report for the month, you automatically go under Active, even if you've not RPed in 3 months. Your character, however, falls under Inactive.

 

The same goes for members of Staff (like Owen, as Bio Checker, etc). This is stuff I have in my head, or can see for myself. So even though Myst might put Owen's character as Inactive as he's not RPed, I will put him as active under Members, because he's done Bios. You need to tell me whether your Sitters have been active, though. And by active I mean doing their jobs, not just posting somewhere random.

 

Now, what I really REALLY need YOU to do:

 

* Give me the full DM Handle (for instance, U4ea instead of Lor) of your members.

* Give me the full character names (Jasmyne Ceres, instead of Jas)

* The last time that character was played (month and year will do)

* If you really want to get fancy, link their profile under the Handle, and their Bio under the Character name. I'd urge you all to do that, even if not right away. If Peggy Sue comes back after an absence of 2 years, it will make it so much easier to see what characters she has, what Ajahs, etc. But I'm not going to insist on that  :D

 

How I would prefer you present it:

If you don't want to get that fancy, please at least give me the 3 things I absolutely need, ie full Handle, full character names, and last time RPed with each character. I'll sort them myself.

 

 

Now I know you all think this is a lot of work, but Lor (bless her!) has an excellent way of doing it at the Greens.

Each month she starts a thread where her Greens post their RPs during that month. For instance, Rasheta will update her own post through the month, adding any new RPs. At the end of the month, Lor uses that to compile her report to me.

 

Now, if each member of the WT is responsible for updating their own stuff, that lessens each Head's work considerably. If each Head gives ME the info I've asked for, that means I don't have to spend 2 days tracking down all this info. Which would be really nice.

 

Does anyone spot any holes in the above? Got any suggestions?

Just a crazy question that I've never understood.

 

What's the purpose for me linking you to my DM Profile, other than making adding me to usergroups easier? I've never really understood why you need to know my profile is number 119 (holy CRAP I'm DM old! Look at that horribly low profile number! and that's just THIS version of DM! Someone save me I need a life! *clears her throat and gets back to business*) and what purpose it would serve on the RP side. Wouldn't it be more beneficial when Peggy Sue comes back to have a link to her bio, rather than her profile? It's not listed by Profile here on site, so how can we track which characters someone has through that link?

 

Please don't take me as being obstinate, I really just don't get how one can get you the other and really think a link to something you could actually use would be infinitely more beneficial...

In most cases, linking to the Bio would be much more useful, which is why I suggested doing that with the character names.

 

The profile comes in handy for a few reasons too, though. Mostly because they save you (and me) a crap load of time and effort in having to hunt them down every time they're needed (especially when the search function, etc, breaks down). You only have to hunt down that link once and add them to your list. Thereafter you copy and paste.

Here are a few scenarios off the top of my head:

* The person is to be removed from the usergroup due to inactivity. I have to add that link in my email.

* Ajah Head lists someone as active / the person reports to the Ajah as active, but you are / I am pretty sure they've not RPed with that character in a while. Quick to check with the link, not so quick without.

* etc etc

 

To just illustrate: I spent almost 2 days doing the June report, because some Heads gave some info, other Heads gave other info, but no-one gave ALL the info I asked for. I ended up having to find all that data myself.

Add the fact that they're pretty nice, and would put that information in their monthly posts for you so you just need to copy and paste  ;)

 

So the only ones you have to find that info for, are the absentee ones ... and you have Sitters, right? Make them do it for you  ;D

Hell, make one of the Accepted who want to aspire to the Green, do it for you - kind of like an OOC initiation :P

HOW TO SEARCH FOR RPs

 

 

1) Go to the main forum page, and click on the little wheel cog thing here:

 

 

 

 

 

You will land up at the following page. There you type the full DM handle of the person who's RPs you are looking up in the "find author" cell:

 

 

 

 

 

Still on that same page, you scroll down to "find in forum", then scroll down even further in that and highlight which boards you want to search in. I usually end up searching all under "Dragon Reborn Role Playing", just so I don't miss anything. To highlight, you click on the first board (Tel'aran'rhoid, in this case), then hold down shift with a finger on your left hand, then pull the bar on the right down (or click on the down arrow at the bottom) with your mouse until you reach the end of the boards you want to search. Click on the last board with your mouse.

 

Next you scroll down even further on that page until you see another few options:

 

 

 

 

 

At "display results" click on "as posts" then click on "search now" right at the bottom.

 

You should see the following results:

 

 

 

 

 

Now you just check those out to see when last the person RPed with whatever character it is you're looking for. Remember to check the dates of the posts and only note the ones done in the specific month the report is being done on (ie if you are doing this search in May, for the April report, scroll down till you see the ones done in April).

 

You could possibly enter the name of the character in the "Find words" cell right at the top, but many people don't include their character names in their posts

Thank you so much for Elgee! In the last less than 2 minutes I've found info on 2 people I had been searching for for hours at a time for the last few reports and gave up on each time after not finding anything. I now know the last time that all my members (yes all 6 us <.<) have RPed!! *does a happy dance* This will come in so handy for future months when the members continue to not report their RPs...if any of them start rping again.
