Role PMs are going out now.  Please hold off on starting until after I post the opening scene.  If the opening scene is up and you don't have a role PM, send me a PM and I'll get it to you.  Otherwise, feel free to play as soon as the scene's up.  :)

Alrighty, everyone should have a role PM now.  :)

The opening scene...

The lights in Kitchen Stadium were low as one by one the Challengers arrived.  They had all been here before, but still there were some nerves as they contemplated the upcoming battle.  Each had a list of three possible secret ingredients, of which they had their own favorites, just as they had the first time.  One difference, a difference that a couple found frightening, was that this time they had been told to leave their sous chefs at home.  Would they be fighting the battle alone?  Even the most confident were disconcerted by the thought.

They became aware of each other fairly quickly, looking around the room and seeing some familiar faces and some not-so-familiar.  What the Challengers didn't see was a production crew, runners racing around after things, no people at all in fact besides the other Challengers.  What was going on here?

The Iron Chefs arrived in a pack, their hair un-brushed and make-up free.  They stood in their designer sweat suits, their faces both sullen and confused.  Where were their personal assistants?  Who had their coffee?  Why hadn't their sous chefs arrived?  What happened to the people from wardrobe and make-up?  They couldn't go on camera without coffee and make-up!

Alton and Kevin arrived late, looking dapper as usual, and whispering together and giggling about who knows what.  All nine chefs were about to descend upon them, demanding knowledge, when Jeffrey Steingarten arrived.  They hesitated, all wanting to show confidence before this stuffy and highly critical judge.  Before they could decide how to casually approach the two, the Chairman arrived.

The Chairman had left behind the fancy costumes and tailored suits in favor of a jeans and t-shirt combo that looked decidedly odd in Kitchen Stadium.  His behavior was odd as well.  This was the first time he had ever walked into Kitchen Stadium, glanced around the room, and then turned to lock the doors.

He faced them again, smiling widely and making sure to meet each pair of eyes in turn.  "I'm glad to see you all could make it here today."  He hesitated a moment as his eyes fell on Jeffrey, but continued smoothly as if expecting his presence.  "I apologize for luring you here with the promise of a rematch.  I hope you understand the necessity before we are through here."  He focused on his three Iron Chefs.  "Each one of these men has battled you, leaving a bitter taste in your hearts, though not in our mouths.  You have something to learn from them both professionally and emotionally."  He then turned to the Challengers, leaving the Iron Chefs to look at each other baffled by his words.  "I appreciate your help in attempting to teach my Iron Chefs new ideas in the culinary world and hope that you can also teach them one important lesson they have yet to learn -- humility."  The confusion of the Iron Chefs evaporated in the heat of their fury.  Humility?  Why would they need humility?

The Chairman continued smoothly, ignoring the grumbling from all sides.  "Alton and Kevin have both seen all of your original battles, so it only seemed fair that they be here to support the Challengers in their attempts to teach the Iron Chefs.  After all, the Challengers may all be professional chefs, but they are not Iron Chefs, so I'm sure the additional support will be appreciated.

"Now I will leave you to determine who has the most to learn.  I'll check on your progress at the end of the day."  He smiled again and then swiftly let himself out of the room.  The chefs heard the click of the lock, took a deep breath, and all began loudly expressing their displeasure at this turn of events.  It was a good thing the cameras weren't rolling or the person responsible for bleeping words would have been highly overworked.

Day one has begun!  With 12 players remaining, 7 votes are needed for a lynch.  Day one ends Monday, August 2 at 5pm PST or when the hammer vote is cast.

OOoo shiny! ;D

Got my PM. Just letting everyone know that DM is now being blocked from work. Guess I spent too much time there when I was in 3 games at once. So I can't even read the thread during the day. I will be checking in the evenings though.

Quick, [glow=red,2,300]Amadine[/glow], what is your favorite stuffed animal?  Answer correctly and I may spare your life!

No...there was 1 in missed in Thakandar a couple of months ago because it didn´t say "mafia" in the sign-up thread. You have no idea how frustrated I was.  >:(  It was the Trolloc game.

Vote Count:

Amadine (1) -- Hybrid

Aemon (2) -- Eldrick, Alanna

Eldrick (1) -- Lia

Lia (1) -- Aemon

CJ (1) -- Meesh

Alanna (1) -- StringWinder

12 players alive, 7 needed to lynch.

Day 1 Deadline: Monday 8/2 @ 5pm PDT (GMT -7)

What's amazing isn't that Aemon has time to play them all, it's that he can play in that many games and still play well and keep them all straight.  I tried six once (didn't expect them all to start so close together) and felt like my brain was mush and made mistakes (in one case roleblocking someone in one game because I thought they were mafia in another game and got the two confused -- he had a town investigative role in the game I blocked him in... oops!)
