I just put my name down for the themed mod list. Looks like I'll be up in about 2 years.  ;D I'll see if I have a chance to run it in an org before then. There should be plenty of time before I'm up in OG for people to want to play it again. I am DYING to run my Firefly games, though.

I would LOVE to play this as a themed game, Aemon. The metal burning and such really lends itself to great roles.

 

I really enjoyed myself this game, even though I lost ;D I knew it was going to be a long shot at the end there. I kept thinking, 'no way will I fool Talya!' LOL. It might've gone better if I'd taken a more aggresive stance earlier on, but I'm so used to just flying under the radar when I'm mafia. Halfway thru the game, I kinda realized I couldn't do that this game, because it was such a small amount of players.

 

Sorry for calling you a liar, Tigs! I felt bad about it lol :D

 

So how exactly did Pete's role work? I was honestly confused about that at the end there, although I knew he couldn't have been lying, obviously.

I forgot to put up the roles! Thanks for reminding me, Alanna. Pete's role was a variation on redirecting. In this case he chose a person and redirected that persons night action to the person he chose. I liked Lia ability a lot better. In her case she chose a person and pulled that night action to herself. If you have read the sries, this makes perfect sense for the Kelsier character. If you haven't read the series, go read it. Now.  ;D  I have also thought up a couple of more one shot abilities for the feruchemist. I thought he was a bit limited, but wanted to see how he ran. Unfortunately, he was lynched day 1. LOL

 

Wombat- I'd be more than happy to collaborate with you on the complete themed game. Do you think it's a good idea to use characters, though? Someone already mentioned somewhere that all of these themed games are getting mass reveals that are pretty much taking the fun out of the game. That was why I was going to run abilities instead of characters. I'll send you a PM with the main details tomorrow or the next day so we can start fleshing it out if you like.

I don't like the mass reveals either, but I think characters add a lot of flavor to a game.  Also, I don't think character reveals are necessarily as safe as some people think.  I have a few ideas as to how to balance a game to make character revealing...inadvisable >:D

 

At the very least, you could give everyone characters but only inform them of their roles and only reveal characters on death.

I think because it was a small game it worked. In bigger games it's not so easy. If Alanna had set things up earlier I might have found it even harder not to believe her, but I think that it was so late in the day that she revealed pushed it for me!

Good job to all of you. I thought Alanna had a prety good shot at pulling it off there at the end. I'm thinking about making this a themed game with more character (14-15). Would anyone be interested in playing it in that setting? I will be eliminating all the characters and just using mistings, mistborn, feruchemists and steel inquisitors. That way there is no way to do a mass reveal of characters. Anyone interested?

 

I'd play...maybe I'll have time to read the series first...lol

I actually had the same idea after reading the series.  I planned it all out and got around 30 characters with some nice roles mixed in.  (no characters)  I may or may not be doing it. :D

It was interesting comparing the way you did your roles to the way I did mine.  Most of the Mistings were pretty much the same.  I went overboard and included almost all 16 Mistings. ;D

LOL. I'd like to see how you balanced the game with that many abilities. I'm toying with the idea of giving the mistings different abilities. For example: Pewter could have one person immune to NK/lynch and another person could pewter drag to commute, while yet another could be a bodyguard because of the extra strength. Almost all of the elements have multiple applications, especially the tineyes. I still need to develop that character a bit more before I throw him into the mix.

 

I'm just worried about losing the balance with so many abilities. I will definitely have to throw in some mistborn assassins and such to even out the odds.

Well, I would show you, but you would want to play the game, so I can't. 

 

That's a good idea, however I can't apply it as I already have a lot of characters.  My set of characters feature a lot of diversity.  Only a couple Allomantic abilities are repeated.
