The aiel had a name for Lan Mandragoran and it's killing me I cant remember. I don't recall what book this was mentioned in but it was early on, maybe the 2nd or 3rd.

Aan'allein. Means "man alone" or "a man who is an entire nation" ... something like that.

*blink* never thought of it like that, but you're right waterseeker. It does look a lot like that, doesn't it.

To me it looked close to "een alleen", which would be "one alone" in Afrikaans. Can't recall offhand how that would be spelt in German or Dutch ... Myst?

Auf Deutsch (in german), "ein allein."

The Shadow Rising, Chapter 23 - Beyond The Stone

If you don't want to reread this chapter, turn to page 333 if you have the hardback - If not, just flip through four or five pages - just beyond the point where Rand and Matt request entrance to Rhuidean.

"the Time of Change is upon us. Aes Sedai stand on Chaendaer, and Aan'allein with his shifting cloak. Can we hold to the old ways still?"

In Dutch it would indeed be "een alleen". Never thought of it that way...

(Yes, I'm Dutch)
