For all the Moms, how did your family celebrate? For all you kids, how did you show your appreciation for Mom?

First to post  :)

I woke up early and snuggled my mum, celebrating her Mother's Day. Could not buy anything this year, because I couldnt save up my pocket money for it...well she said that she didnt actually want presents either. I prepared the breakfast for her, burned the toast as usual :( But she seemed so happy when I left the house. Then I came back from my course, and cooked her favourite meal! ...Meanwhile,my sister didnt help me,though... ::)

I think I show my appreciation to my mum everyday, snuggling her, asking whether her day was good or not. I know these are small things, and of course not enough to show how I am glad that she is my mum, but she gets so happy when I do those. And when she gets happy,I get happy, too. Sometimes we cant get along, sometimes we fight over stupid things, but she is my mum and I will be always glad that she is my mum. And one last thing:

I love you Mum <3

P.S.: As for my imaginary mum,Anox,I could not find time to celebrate her Mother's Day. Hope she will get online soon,to receive my snuggles :)

That sounds wonderful Bela. Your mom is lucky to have you! Most girls go through a rough patch with their moms (usually the teen years--all of them!) but its still nice to know that even though you have your differences -over almost everything- you still love them and show them every now and then. I'm sure that she would be just as happy, if not more, having you do the nice things for her that you did than getting her an expensive gift. Its about the time and thought you put into showing her that you love her, not just how much you spend..though some presents are thoughtful and nice to get.

I just realized that I did tell you about my day yet, so here we go!

Last night my husband worked until 7pm then went out to watch some fights on the tv at bar in the city, he only goes about 3 times a year so it was special for him. He got home at about 2 or 3 am. He has to work tonight at 7pm but he got up when the baby woke up at 7am and brought him downstairs. He made the kids breakfast and helped my daughter make a card for me and then brought me breakfast in bed.

I was so happy I got to relax and stay in bed a little longer and not have to make breakfast. He said he really wanted to get me flowers, but we didn't have the money (by the way someone else drove him to and from the bar last night, and he only had one drink, that someone else bought, so don't think he was throwing money out yesterday and has none now..it all went to the mortgage and van fixing). He then told me he was gonna go out side and pick a flower for me to bring up with my breakfast, but he was in his boxers and he "remembered how much I don't like when he goes outside in his boxers" so he didn't. I ate the yummy food and drank the coffee and then I came downstairs and got a big hug and kiss from my girlie and her wonderful card.

She had drew me a picture of a giant who was frowning because, apparently, giants are always mad! He was playing with a hoola hoop and a stick. On the inside of the card she drew a picture of me in a heart. Apparently I only have one leg now, and since she drew me with a belly button, I guess I'm naked too....four year olds are cute. She had gotten to my husband to write "Happy Mothers Day, Love Me". Its going in the keepsake box!

I also called my step mother for the first time on a Mother's day and told her Happy Mother's day..she said "What was that?" like she hadn't understood, so I said it again and she got all giddy. We've had a lot of issues in the past, and I always get my daughter to wish her a happy mother's day, she is her Grammy after all, but I never really accepted her as my Step mom. I accepted her as my Dad's wife and just recently as a woman I could come to for advice, but I just couldn't put the idea of her a mother figure in my head.

So that is my Mother's day so far, I have a few other people to call but that's it! I'm smiling!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the wonderful mothers here on DM!  ;D

So far today, gave my mom a card in the morning with my sister and gave her a big kiss. Also cooked her a hearty breakfast. I am also doing...or trying to do all the laundry in the house. In addition, I will be cooking dinner with my sister and my dad for my mom and i think my sister and I are making her either cupcakes or something sweet for dessert. Well, that's the plan.  ;D

I was also going to buy her perfume on friday but i didnt so i went yesterday and totally forgot which perfume she wanted. I know that she liked Chanel but i didnt catch the name of the one she liked.  :-\

Well, I might still get it for her. Oh yeah, my brother also sent flowers to my mom.  ;D

I'm in bed with a monster headache and am working up to getting up and making myself a nice breakfast.  Hubbie would make it for me, but I told him what I want is too fussy.  :)  Then we're going to go over to the new house and continue the painting extravaganza until it's time to collect the kids from hubbie's parents, since they spent the night there last night.  My youngest had a preschool field trip to a nursery on Thursday and brought me home a verbena with a little handprint tag-style card that the teacher helped him write "Happy Mothers' Day" and "I love you" on.  His mom-and-me class also did handprints on cardstock with a little poem.  My older son had to be picked up from school early, so he was upset that whatever he made got left in his cubby at school.  He'll bring it home tomorrow.

For my mom, mother-in-law, and grandma we gave them sets of cards my youngest's mom-and-me class sold that the kids made the art on.  Granted, my kid was absent that day, but I didn't tell them that.  ;)  The cards are cute.

Edit: And I forgot to mention that Hubbie also used his bonus to buy me new pots and pans to go in the new kitchen.  :)  He thinks it's a crummy gift, but I like it because it's  something I actually need.

Bela, the presents we like best are the snuggles and the understanding!  ;) :)

I know what you mean Pookie. You have a great Hubby!

That was nice Kathleen. I know it made her day.

Dah'mir, I agree with Kathleen. Nothing's worse than getting a perfume you don't like.

My day began with a lovely card from my husband. Then my daughter surprised me with an orchid coursage at church.  My son and son-in-law gave me cute cards and chocolates. We had a wonderful dinner. I got to spend all afternoon watching episodes of "Bones" and reading Dragonmount. Very nice!  ;D

I had a big old cook out for my mom, sister and GF and the family. Mom's got steaks everybody else got hotdogs and burgers. Too bad it was flippin FORTY FIVE DEGREES (Fahrenheit). It was still great though. Happy Mother's Day everybody!
