Great Fantasy Series

So I pickup Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson two days ago. I am almost halfway through it already! It's so good I can't put it down. It's really a big contrast to the comparatively light reading WoT (not that I don't enjoy WoT). But it is set in a very stark world that has loads of depth right off the bat. After I read this beginning bit, I knew it was going to end up being one of my favs:

Now these ashes have grown cold, we open the old book.

These oil stained pages recount the tales of the Fallen,

a frayed empire, words without warmth. The hearth

has ebbed, its gleam and life's spark are but memories

against dimming eyes - what cast my mind, what hue my

thoughts as I open the Book of the Fallen

and breath deep the scent of history?

Listen, then, these words carried on that breath.

These tales are the tales of us all, again yet again.

We are history relived and that is all, without end that is all.

Anyone have any other thoughts on this series?

I have yet to read AsoIaF, how would you compare this series to it?

I'm going to read this saga too, it's a long time i wanna do it, and everyone i know told me the 1st book is not very good but going on it'll be great!

They say it's an amazing saga, i'm looking forward to read it!

One other plus is that Erikson finishes his books on schedule, unlike a certain GRRM...

Hehe  ;D

But I must say that i like ASOIAF, pity for the writer  ;D
