Liquid fire burned in her shoulder as Kabria pushed herself to her feet. It had only been a short workout; 30 sit ups and 25 pushups. It was a quarter of what she’d been capable of before her injury. Being unable to heal herself she’d been forced to wait for her Sisters in the Tower, and even the best of them could not heal her as she was. The injury had been too old, and set in for too long.

In her six weeks of healing she’d lost nearly 15 lbs and much of her muscle. Perivar had placed her on a strict regime of exercise of appropriate meals several times a day.  Wincing she rubbed at the thin white scar across her breast bone, trying to work out the searing pain. Giving up on feeling anything but pain, she picked up the wooden practice blade and gave it a test swing. Pain erupted anew and the sword clattered to the floor. Perivar had told her to begin with the blade again as soon as she was able, but each passing day brought no respite from her suffering.

Letting out a vicious growl of frustration Kabria flung herself down in a small stuffed arm chair. Tears of anger and frustration burned in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She was a woman and an Aes Sedai! Not a child! She hated herself for her being so foolish and allowing the Trolloc so close, and she loathed her growing own self pity. One moment of carelessness, had cost her dearly; and all she could say to have gained was the knowledge to not repeat the mistake twice. Scrubbing at her eyes fiercely with the back of her hand she got up and threw on her dark green robe over her linen shift and went to call for a serving girl.

When the water and been brought, and heated to perfection with Saidar Kabria sunk in; burying herself to her neck in the heat. She could feel Perivar drawing closer to the Tower and she wanted the pain in her upper body gone before he was close enough to share it with her. So far she’d been successful in hiding how much pain she was in from him. If he knew that she still felt this way he would worry, and he did enough of that without needing further provocation. Closing her eyes she focused on a single rose, and poured all of her pain into it.... trying to will the fire in her shoulder to subside.

Nightdancer's hooves clopped quietly on the forest floor as Perivar scanned his surroundings.  A pheasant hung from the saddle's pommel and down his right flank.  Hunting was the excuse he used to get out of Tar Valon during those all too long days.  Kabria knew he could not sit idle for hours on end reading as she could so she gave him permission to do as he wished during the day.  Neither could tolerate Tar Valon that well though occassionally they had to return for one reason or another.

This visit to Tar Valon was so Kabria could recover from her injuries.  The fool woman put herself in danger far too often for his liking.  As a borderlander, Perivar respected powerful women, women who were not afraid to stand in the face of danger though Kabria had taken it to the extreme.  His slender Aes Sedai could not afford to lose any weight yet she had managed to do so as a result of her injuries.  The fool woman could have died!

Perhaps that was why she was so willing to let him have his days to himself.  Kabria was probably tired of him worrying over her like an overprotective parent.  Well if she was going to take foolish risks then he was going to have to watch over her even more than he alreay did.  His thoughts ran wild from Kabria, to his former home, to world events then full circle back to Kabria though he stayed ever vigilant as he drew nearer to Tar Valon.

An hour later he entered the stables tossing the stableboy a silver crown as he dismounted.  He instructed the lad to take the pheasant home to his family.  If Perivar had scored more game then the remainder would have went to the kitchens to feed the poor.  Unfortunately his outing was not as successful as previous days in which he returned with deer and boar.  Leaving Nightdancer in capable hands he made hi way to Kabria's room in the Green Ajah quarters.
