Dragon Age™: Origins – Awakening

From the Makers of the Best RPG of 2009, Dragon Age: Origins, comes the first official expansion pack.

For centuries, the Grey Wardens—the ancient order of guardians, sworn to unite and defend the lands—have been battling the darkspawn forces. Legend spoke that slaying the Archdemon would have put an end to the darkspawn threat for centuries to come, but somehow they remain.

You are the Grey Warden Commander and have been entrusted with the duty of rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens and uncovering the secrets of the darkspawn and how they managed to remain.

How you choose to rebuild your order, how you resolve the conflict with "The Architect", and how you determine the fate of the darkspawn will be but some of the many complex choices that await and shape your journey as you venture to the new land of Amaranthine.

It has been awhile since I played the game, but who is in your party when you fight the Broodmother?

I found that fight to be extremely easy... But thats because I went to the dwarves after level 15, and was geared out of my arse. :P

But Morrigan has the Blizzard and Tempest powers  :P

I beat it on my most recent try, and I did it with: Shale, Alistair, and Morrigan.

Now I'm stuck on the revolving anvil mini-game thing.  It's so annoying because my characters keep running to attack the wrong guys EVEN when I've set their status to Defensive.  It's ridiculously annoying.

I think I can get it the next time though.  I'm tired of Oghren, he sucks and I like to keep my party eclectic; I don't need three warriors and one mage.  Also he sucks at battle.

My ideal party is: My Dwarven warrior, Morrigan, Leliana, and Alistair

Well, depending on how you set them all up, allistair = tank, Oghren = Beserker dps.

Leliana as 'bard-ranger' sucks, Her bard abilities rock, but her + bow = suck.

Swap her with Ogren should do more dmg... but lose some supportive abilities.

Swap her with the healing mage, well, now you got 2 warriors (2 tanks? 1 tank 1 dps?) Morrigan with her debuffs, nukes, and shape shifting, and the other mage Wayne, with her healing, nukes, ect.

When you unlock Arcane Warrior I would highly sugjest making Morrigan or Wayne them, Arcane Warrior > Melee Warrior. ;)

I'll check that out for sure

Look at it this way, Morrigan if she went down the debuff part, you get various Hexes that do things like increase the chance that you crit on an enemey 100%, you get hexes that make it so you never miss a melee attack on an enemey. Hexes that basically increase teh damage done to the mob.

Now, you take Arcane Warrior, they basically convert there 'magic' stat, directly into 'strength'.

Meaning, if you have 50 magic, you also have an equal amount of 'strength', that also translates into other 'tanking' stats... It doesn't modify your 'stamina' or 'health' but it definately affects your survivability. You can equip the strongest melee armor, with the strongest melee weapons, with all your focus being on the Magic Stat.

So now your a pimped out mage, that can equip the best armor, the best weapon, And you can cast hexes on creatures that boosts your damage. ;)

Finished the Anvil of the Void quest and am now working my way towards finishing everything up in Denerim before the Landsmeet.

Question for you SD: what's your opinion on the gemstones?  do you think that any upcoming expansions will utilize them?  They certainly have no purpose in the game except for the garnet sidequest.

Aren't those used for Shale?

I really believe the concept of DLC is killing mods for these kind of games. It allows devs to feel at 'ease' for not finishing a game, since they can simply work on it after the game releases, and sell it for more money.

The modding communities (if your PC) get lazy and only make 'porn' mods, since why bother making a 'real' mod with any 'content' when biowares going to do it anyways?

Not those, those are crystals.  I'm talking about the gemstones like malachite, diamond, ruby, topaz, etc that just sit in your "other" pouch and can be sold but only for like pennies.  I know you can put a few in the dwarven allies box in your camp, but other than that they have no purpose as far as I can tell.

Oh wait I know where they are used.

Gah I'm retarded.

Have you beat the game, or near beating it?

When you complete one of the 'main quest' parts, aka gathering your 'army', each faction will send a representative to your 'camp'. You can turn in items to them. One of them accepts gems.

is there actually a point to sticking stuff in those boxes? Do you get XP or more trops later?

Yea actually there is a point to it.

At the end of the game where you get various 'armies' helping you in the city, what those boxes do, is simple.

It upgrades there base armor/weapons/spells/healing potions/mana potions/poisons/ect on all those troops to better stuff.

Aka, say they all start out with 'iron armor, iron swords, 1 minor health potion, 1 poison/trap/mana potion (depending on classes nad such)

if you put stuff in those boxes, it upgrades them to say, Steel armor, steel sword, large potions, better poisons/traps.

Simply speaking it upgrades there 'stats' to better take on the upcoming horde.
