I tend to disagree.  If you get voted only ONCE, especially on DAY ONE, that is NO reason to even feel defensive, unless you're scum.  If that had been me and not you, I would've waited to see how people reacted to Pete's vote.  They may have laughed at it, or doubted it; they may have believed it, too, and if that happened, and I got 3 or more votes based on Pete's one vote, THEN I'd start complaining about it.

 

By basically freaking out at the one vote/accusation, without waiting to see if other people would even give credit to what Pete's said, you are now making me, at least, seriously consider believing Pete's claim.

I agree with Mmeeshal - Seeing that vote I was inclined to laugh it off as a day one scare tactic, because I have doubts about a role that allows you to find someone day one. of course, you never know, there could be, but it could also just be a clever trick to make you panic Ed and look scummy. Or maybe just reveal your scumminess ;)

Plus, in the mafia rev, we lynched someone who had defended herself right away, and we all lynched her. She was innocent. So, this being only my second game, that is my only experience.

Wow.  6 new replies while I was typing.  And, something I've never experienced in a mafia game before, NOT ONE OF THEM contains anything that I need to respond to or change what I've said.

:D I just watched the Glee finale on Hulu.com a few hours ago, and I really liked the song, so I looked up the lyrics.... And bam, there they are in my siggy! :D  I think it's crazy that on the night I put 'em in there, not only did someone recognize the lyrics, but they also knew them from the same source as me! ;D

Firstly, you're obviously not grasping the idea that people might actually be able to figure out that Dragon could've been lying.  Why should you think that everyone would automatically believe Dragon?

 

Secondly, 3 or 4 more votes wouldn't have been too late.  That's 4 or 5 votes, not quite a majority.  It takes 9 votes to lynch, FYI.  What I meant was, if people seemed to take Pete seriously AND were voting for you, then getting defensive would be understandable.

 

Thirdly, that's still no excuse.  "I'm defending myself because I have so much time on my hands" doesn't really do much for you.  There are other things you could do beside post incessantly in every mafia game you can get your hands on.  And you can spam a game without defending yourself.

 

Fourthly, no one ever said, "Defensiveness is a surefire indicator of scum."  It's not.  It just makes you look more suspicious, is all.  Believe me, most mafia players get targeted for their defensiveness at some point or another.  Just take this as a learning experience.

 

Finally, Eqwina didn't actually defend herself, she defended her VOTE when people started attacking her for it.  "Defending" yourself and "getting defensive" aren't always the same thing, either.  (and this is slightly irrelevant because it's from another game, which has no bearing on this one at all)

I agree her defense doesn't have any bearing on this game, but that is not exactly what I meant...just that this is my second game, and I am going off my only experience...

 

I have to disagree with one point..."getting defensive" is pretty much the same as "defending yourself"

I don't think that I got over defensive, but that is up to interpretation.
