Rand's wounds

Ok so, I think the wounds on Rand's side have some extra part to play besides the Christ allegory. It's been discussed here before how strange it is that Ish fought Rand with a staff and lost when he could have just blown him away. Maybe victory wasn't his intent, maybe there is something more seed-like to the un-healable wound just waiting for the right time to blossom.

RJ said in an interview that the two separate evils of the wounds were much like positive and negative fields, much like magnets.  This might also have some significance with the Cleansing, as Saidin and Saidar behaved like polar opposites.  The two might have a connection, but I guess that remains to be seen.

You mean like he was able to cleanse the source because of his wounds?

If I remember correctly the pulsing of his wounds when he sealed the SL waygate and fought Sammeal gave him a hint as to how to cleanse Sadin, but they did not make it possible.

My guess would be that Ish wanted Rand to experience a slow painful death.  Keep in mind that it was Lanfear who saved him and given her attitude towards him at the time I don't think they were working together..

I like this idea, that Ishamael wasnt trying to kill Rand, but to infect him with the taint wound. It kind of sits well with my own belief that Padan Fain stabbing the same bit of Rand was Ta'veren; something had to stop Ishamaels infection from spreading.
