Aes Sedai can't lie??

Morain lies a bout her name all the time?

If memory serves, when asked her name she doesn't say "my name is..." she says "you may call me..." or something similar. So no, she does not lie.

ya i agre with Fun also she dances the edges as an AS can only do also if u rember when Verin goes to Far Maddin she also gives a false name when she says "all of u may call me Eadwina" she is not lying she is giving them a name to call her by

to be honest, my head would be really dizzy if i were to say to someone 'you may call me <insert falsename>'

 

really, i can begin to see why the randtime aes sedai can't achieve anything, they spend so much concentration saying these half-truths-that-are-lies-but-are-not-lies, they simply can't do anything else.

i think they also say sometimes "i am known as ..." which could be true too.

The truth or something that might be true (in perspective of the speaker) are the only things possible for a person bound to the First Oath.

Something the speaker knows is false is the only thing such a person cannot say.

 

An alias/false-name could be something that might be true.
