Any one in the retail industry will tell you it sucks. That people are generally jerks, and that no matter how hard you try to have a great day some idiot invariably comes along and takes a heaping crap on it.

 

"Why Cat, why are you so angry at these people?"

 

Well, namely I hate people. In fact, if I could just hang out at home all the time and not have to deal with actual people I think I could be quite happy. But the sad part of it is I HAVE to interact with the unwashed masses and so I suck it up and deal most of the time.

 

Now, granted not all people are idiots,there are some genuinely AWESOME people out there, but those that are idiots (and their numbers are alarmingly high) ruin it for everyone else.

 

And by all that is holy and unholy if someone talks down to me because I work retail one more time I swear I am going to deck them and then proceed to say, "Oh I am sorry I working my way through school and helping to support my family while I am at it, and that my job only requires a 10th of my brain power. I am sorry I am not some crazy stay at home mom with 17 kids all of whom are brats, or that I am not a middle management lackey and I feel the need to abuse someone because I am freakishly unhappy with my life. Oh did I just ruin your day, oops, my bad! Your cheap self should shove your bloody coupons where the sun don't shine and maybe learn to read a damn sign while you are at it."

 

Needless to say, I am quickly reaching my limit. Now, not that I have anything against stay at home mom's or middle management people, but those are usually (though NOT the ONLY) people that tend to get to me... well them and Old people. *mutter*

I hear you Gus, I really do.... I made one customer so mad that, somewhere out there, there is a blog telling of how evil I really am.  I kid you not... she wrote to the company complaining about me and mentioned that she is letting people know about me in some stupid online blogger.  I'm like wonderful!  Now all the stupid masses that read your dumb blog will stay the hell away from me and my place of work!!

oh, Nae, that sucks. Some people should just be sterilized.

 

But you know what. The customer is NOT always right. I can't help you if you are having a crappy day and can't find the towel size you need, and you decide to make snotty comments to me while I ring you out. I do not get paid near enough to deal with that kind of mess and I cannot magically pull something that isn't there out of my butt, it just doesn't work that way. >_<

I know, right... I love the ones that ask me if we have something and I assure them we don't and they say are you sure? My sister bought one here last week.  Um, no sweetie, she didn't.  I've worked here 4 years and we have NEVER had that product.
