In the UK, if you press the magic red button on your TV remote, you can sing along to the songs.

 

It is possible to get subtitles in the UK. However, I do not know if they use English or the language the song is being sung in if it isn't English. While it would be nice to know what they are singing about, I feel it could spoil the show. So I just listen to the songs blissfully unaware of what they are singing about and allows me to judge the song as it stands.

Yea, could be so. I started to wonder on this during the show, though didn't want to start experimenting on it in the middle of the show, since that is always asking for something to not work right so you miss some songs or something. There is a button for subs in the remote, so I suppose that would remove it, though I've never used them. Perhaps you can even get Swedish subs using that. I think it might be better on the whole without the subs, since I was a little annoyed with them covering part of the screen at times. Well, have to try next year.

yepp danya, with the landslide they can argue the sovjet states till they blue, but said landslide was caused by more then just old sovjet states

 

the song got more popular then i think anyone had guessed at by a long mile (even knowing it was among favourites this was in no way expected, and it shows on both the artist and system around him they werent prepared to handle it)

I do find it strange that the juries for each country voted on an earlier dress rehersal, and not the final itself.

I would think that the reason for that would be so their scoring wouldn't hold up the show, and they could have as much time as they needed to properly critique the songs.

I only find it strange as when countries used juries in the past (instead of TV telephone voting) I was under the impression the deliberation was during the actual song contest.

who knows, i guess they  been given plenty chanse though as there been prolly several rehersals, semifinals etc, so this siting at said rehersal was more of a last chance to hear the songs and see em live maybe, before making up their minds, and only compare the 25 not taking into acount the ones who been left out

 

and there only really like 15 min, so not much time for them to debate on after all songs are done, and they cant debate during without loosing out on some songs...and they need those votes in to help with the final calculation

 

we all know there is less to consider for the people, who judge on personal taste, while the jury probably have more competence and judge on more professional factors..which take more time

 

siting down and giving a qualitiative judgement on how a dog looks, takes more time then say just offright saying well i like how it look...i like how one of our dogs basicaly look i can tell that from one eyecast, i cant tell in one view if she has the right height, walks without flaw, has good teeth, etc etc, giving a more profesional judgement would take more time then a personal basic opinion

The juries were supposed to represent the professional votes, and thus they used an early rehearsal so they could hear each songs several times before making a decision.
