Last year, early October some time. Far gave me an exact date when I asked on MSN yesterday, but I don't remember what it is.

My first time in this ORG.  ;D

Anyway... I noticed "the Netherlands" and I was like... I live there so what is that about?

It's easier to answer questions than it is to say that you're missing this or that. I'll try a little anyway.

It's got a great education system but your children don't speak dutch so I guess it doesn't matter. It does have several international schools, two of which I have personally attended. The diplomas are generally highly regarded throughout the world. Most foreigners like the Netherlands.

Dutch usually isn't an easy language for foreigners not that I'm great at it. ;)

People are generally pretty tolerant around here and you don't have to learn Dutch to get around. In some places you do though.

It's the land of bikes so you can bet your kids will learn how to ride bikes. It has a pretty good public transport system.

At any rate I'd say that you don't have much to worry about in terms of security and a decent place to live with a family.

I'm seventeen by the way and I live in Rotterdam. If you're going to there or to a city called Maastricht I can tell you a lot more.

I could say more but I don't know what your concerns are so feel free to ask me questions and I'll find out what I can for you. ;)

The Red Light district is mainly in Amsterdam people!!! Even though there is a Street in Den Haag. I went past there with a friend not too long ago. I wouldn't count on seeing people on clogs. There are indeed windmills but not all over the place.

Thanks for the info Loran. I'm not precisely sure where the site is located, so I don't know where we would purchase a home...but as I said before, I don't know that I would feel comfortable moving there for 5-10 years. If it were 2-3 then perhaps...but all of our family is here, and I wouldn't want my kids to go only seeing them perhaps twice a year. :D

That is an understandable concern and one I don't have much to say about. That is a personal choice for you and your husband. ;)

I know what you mean but it isn't too bad. lol. It's kind of cool when you go to see you grandparents once a year and they spoil you like crazy. It becomes something to look forward to and something to cherish so much more. On the other hand there are sacrifices like missing birthdays and that kind of stuff that you might want to consider especially if you're not used to being far away. Like I said you have to decide for yourself.  ;D

Like I also said if there is anything about the Netherlands that you are worried about feel free to ask.  ;)

Yeah, if they were older and had established relationships with the family I wouldn't have as much of a problem I think...but they are two and half and two months....so I think if we left this year and they only saw them once or twice a year then they wouldn't really have a very good bond. It would be more like, "These people my parents say are my family show up a couple times a year..." They are too young to email or send letters or such. Even talk on the phone really lol!

But yes, I will definitely keep you in mind if I have any other questions about The Netherlands. Thanks Loran! ;D
