The names have been changed to entertain the guilty:

Cadsuane: There he is!

Rand: Where?

Cadsuane: There!

Rand: What, behind the rabbit?

Cadsuane: It is the rabbit!

Rand: You silly sod! You got us all worked up!

Casuane: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit. That's the most foul, cruel,

and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on.

Mat: You tit! I soiled my armor I was so scared!

Cadsuane: Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide, it's a

killer!

Logain: Get stuffed!

Cadsuane: It'll do you a trick, mate!

Logain: Oh, yeah?

Mat: You mangy Scot git!

Cadsuane: I'm warning you!

Mat: What's he do, nibble your bum?

Cadsuane: He's got huge, sharp-- he can leap about-- look at the bones!

Rand: Go on, Narishma. Chop his head off!

Narishma: Right! Silly little bleeder. One rabbit stew comin' right up!

Cadsuane: Look!

[squeak]

Narishma: Aaaugh!

[chord]

Rand: Mother's milk in a CUP!

Cadsuane: I warned you!

Mat: I peed again!

Cadsuane: I warned you! But did you listen to me? Oh, no, you knew it all,

didn't you? Oh, it's just a harmless little bunny, isn't it? Well,

it's always the same, I always--

Rand: Oh, shut up!

Cadsuane: --But do they listen to me?--

Rand: Right!

Cadsuane: -Oh, no--

The whole group: Charge!

[squeak squeak]

The whole group: Aaaaugh! Aaaugh! etc.

The whole group: Run away! Run away!

Cadsuane: Haw haw haw. Haw haw haw. Haw haw.

Rand: Right. How many did we lose?

Logain: Gawyn.

Perrin: Morr.

Rand: And Narishma. That's five.

-Lews Therin-:Three, sir.

Rand: Three. Three. And we'd better not risk another frontal

assault, that rabbit's dynamite.

Mat: Would it help to confuse it if we run away more?

Rand: No, nowshut up and go and change your armor.

-Lews Therin-: Let us taunt it! It may become so cross that it will make

a mistake.

Rand: Like what?

-Lews Therin-: Well,....

Rand: Have we got bows?

Perrin: No.

Lan: We have the Holy Hand Grenade.

Rand: Yes, of course! The Holy Hand Grenade of Rhuidean! 'Tis one

of the sacred relics Brother Rhuarc carries with him! Brother Rhuarc!

Bring up the Holy Hand Grenade!

[singing]

How does it, uh... how does it work?

Perrin: I know not, my liege.

Rand: Consult the Kraethon Cycle!

Rhuarc: Armaments, Chapter Two, Verses Nine to Twenty-One.

Gaul: "And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying,

'Oh, Lord, bless this thy hand grenade that with it thou mayest blow

thy enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.' And the Lord did grin, and

people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies,

and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large --"

Rhuarc: Skip a bit, Brother.

Gaul: "And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the

Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three

shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting

shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two,

excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once

the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou

thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty

in my sight, shall snuff it.'"

Rhuarc: Amen.

ALL: Amen.

Rand: Right! One... two... five!

Lan: Three, sir!

Rand: Three!

Besides whats a good theory thread without a decent page of spam?

A thread that has way less risk of getting locked...

True..... Anyway on topic I agree that Lanfear doesn;t seem to be the woman, though it would be an interesting twist. But for Moiraine to be the cause of Rand's tears she would have to be there. This leads us to the people saving Moiraine. Many people think that it would be Mat, Thom and Noal. Has it occured to anyone that it might be Olver instead of Thom? Just a thought

Plus Thom already said he was going. He's definitely in love with Moiraine. And Moiraine's letter says that "It also may be that you [Thom] and Mat Cauthon and another, a man I do not know, will try to rescue me." (Knife of Dreams, A Village in Shiota, p.260) Thom is included in what Moiraine foresaw in the rings of Rhuidean, so Olver won't replace him. The only wild card is Noal, and since Moiraine said a "man" she did not know, Olver hardly qualifies to replace him either.

Besides, none of those men would take Olver into that kind of danger.

The mention of spam in a thread containing Monty Python quotes brings a certain song to mind...

Luckers, that's just mean. Olver can't help that Mat has to tie a steak around his neck to get the dog to play with him.

Silly wabbit, everyone knows (or is at least pretty sure) that Noal is Jain.

Coz he's ugly. *nods firmly*

Did you mean instead of Noal? Its possible' date=' though if Noal is Jain Farstrider it makes a lot of sense for him to be included. Plus he has already asked and been accepted.[/quote']

yup i meant Noal. sorry for the typo. But come to think aboutt it why would she refer to Olver as a man? Or maybe its one of her Aes Secai truths. And even though Noal has been accepted, knowing Olver he probably wouldn't be content to just sit around with his uncles. I think he may manage to sneak his way in among the rescuers. I also believe that Noal will die, possibly at the hand of one of the Finns. And this is where Olver comes into play

Olver has already come into play, by telling Mat and the others about what he learned from Birgitte. It is quite possible Olver also will be crucial to solving the clues the game gives, ie to win you must cheat.

But having a little boy tag along on such dangerous mission? No freaking way.

With the end of the world coming towards them and all, having a little boy tag along to help save Moraine doesn't seem so crazy. If they can save Moraine perhaps they will have a greater chance at the end. Is that worth the risk to Olver? Will Mat be willing to put him in that much danger? Could be yes.

Well, we know that one of the three guys has to be Mat, and I doubt Thom will opt out. So that leaves Domon, Noal and Olver.

Domon is definitely out, coz he'll want to follow egeanin, so it's Noal or Olver. I'm not entirely sure, but I think Noal would opt out. In my eyes, he has made a promise to himself to give up adventuring. I mean, if he really wanted to go adventuring, he would have remained as Jain. Olver, on the other hand, appears to have much more of the story to have a part in, considering his strange introduction into the plot and a vivid character development.

Then again, maybe Noal and Olver would play a game of Snakes and Foxes and winner gets to go :P .

Did anyone else find the exposition from Olver in that chapter a tad forced... indeed, that entire chapter struck me as a bit... convenient.

Ta'veren being the old tongue for Dues Ex Machina?

Nope. RJ actually answered that directly in his blog:

And, no, ta’veren is not Old Tongue for Deus ex machina. It came out of musings on luck, charismatic leaders, and the theory of the indispensable man.,

posted in October.

I think he was actually kidding ... not RJ, I mean, Luckers.

But seriously, Moiraine foresaw at least some element of the timing, because she told Thom in the letter not to show it to Mat until he asked about it, and all the sources of information that made that scene "convenient" come from Mat's experiences since Moiraine's "death", except for his memory of the location of the Tower of Ghenjei.

I think Olver will get to go. Being a neophyte here I will not even pretend to understand the conversation that just went on, I did at least know what music to hum, thanks Robert, but the point I don't get the point, and it's funny too isn't it? But, I think the kid will go because that makes great adventure, and that's what makes Mat's storyline so very fun to read. Ta'veren, dice, whatever, he is one of the best characters in the series.
