Earth's geography for WOT

i think that washington state has too many people living in it to make the right kind of setting. imagine rand, perrin and mat looking out over a beautiful vista of an unlived in portion of the 2 rivers and 2 red necks tear across the backround on quads, or olympia is peeking out from behind a mountain. it would really suck if all the wide landscape shots of randland had the roads and small towns CGed out. it's just not the same.

new zeeland is so popular for fantasy movies and tv because it looks basically like europe only there are fewer people and towns around.

but Illian could be shot in venice and a lot of andor could be in the UK. Carhien could be france or parts of italy. i think the rockies could be a standin for the spine of the world, but the waste is kind of like a rocky desert so no sand. the two rivers reminds me of new england and northern new york.

as much as i hate to admit it, maybe cannada can be used to film much of the movie, it's a HUGE country and will be cheaper to shoot there than in the US.

my last crazy idea is this: Icelandic lava fields can be the waste if the light can be harsh enough. for SG: use the tiny island nation of Nauru.

Nauru as Shayol Ghul? Are you serious? For one, it is an island. Second, it is pretty much flat. Third, it is tropical and covered with greenery. Fourth, it is crisscrossed with roads. To sum it up, it doesn't look at all actively volcanic and scary and forbidding - more of a nice holiday place.

I don't think the Aussie desert would be a good Waste. The Waste has butts and crap like that, our desert's formations usually aren't volcanically formed. Other than that though, it has the mean bushes and animals and land texture that I would visualise.

I don' think any movie should be made...there's all too much information even in one chapter, now to film an entire book :?

Though I'm quite certain that they'd find all necessary locations...look what they did to LotR. Brilliant. They could do the same as far concerning the locations

the three fold lands are the southwest of the usa. the bonnevile salt flat is about as blasted as one can find though death valley is close. i have been to big ben nat'l park and it is a great aiel waste. across the river into mexico is some of the harshest land i have ever seen. blank out the rio grande and you have it. the hillside dwellings in NM are what i envision as a hold with some cg thrown in.

mayene can be one of several east coast marshlands. chincoteage island is a nat'l seashore and desolate. the entire NC outer banks are fine.

the smokey mts are a great mts of mist and two rivers territory can be found near there. ogier groves are in abundance in the usa as are any plains.

sadly, this could only be done a chapter at a time and too much cg is involved as in lotr.
