Whatever happened to Gawyn?

Where is he? I was sure he was in the Tower, and I kept waiting for Egwene to run into him in KoD. But she never did. Maybe I missed something. Maybe we know where he is. Or maybe he is hanging out somewhere in limbo playing poker with a couple of trollocs. Does anyone know?

I am three quarters through KOD in my latest reread, and the last I heard from Gawyn (and I don't think he is mentioned again) was in the prologue of Crossroads of Twilight (I THINK) and he was in a town just outside Tar Valon, Egwene and the rebels had already seiged it, so he could no get through, and he was worried Aes Sedai were going to ask the Young Ones help to break through the Rebels' ranks to Tar Valon.

 

One thing that always puzzled me, how does Gawyn not hear the name Egwene mentioned as Amyrlin seat to the rebels. It seems unrealistic than noone had mentioned it, especially when he is around Aes Sedai all the time.

mhmm, the last time we saw Gawyn was the Prologue of CoT and he's in Dorlan which is east of Tar Valon. Egwene has only just arrived outside of the White Tower because the Epilogue of PoD comes after WH. The sisters with Gawyn have been south since LoC and have no idea what's going on with the Salidar Aes Sedai. Narenwin has just come from Tar Valon to take charge of the Sisters and now they're going to move back to the Tower. On top of that Elaida doesn't want Gawyn to know anything about Elayne or Egwene because she needs him to win.

He's leading the attacks against Egwene's supply trains and foraging parties.

Actually, they were previously disavowed forces that she reclaimed and sent orders to- at the same time that Tarna and Katerine returned to the Tower.

 

Egwene's army is between him and Tar Valon, and he's doing his damnedest to harass it. He thinks to himself that he's cutoff.

 

Also, his news is stale and out of date- it's not until this section that he finds out Elayne is with "the rebels."

What happened to Gawyn? He became the comedy relief. Whenever things are getting alittle too heavy we can always get into his head and have a giggle at his thought process.
