[TV] Heroes - Power Discussion (For everyone - not just those on season 2)

So here's the idea of this thread. This is a chance specifically to discuss the various powers of Heroes. To figure out how they work, how they would help or hinder life, which ones you'd want for yourself and so on.

 

The general idea of this thread is to keep it as spoiler free as possible. So if we could refer specifically to the powers we've encountered in the show, and avoid mentioning character's or plot lines or anything else that could affect spoilers.

 

So, of all the powers in the show, empath aside (my favourite one of course) I'm stuck on 3 abilities that I like best. I really don't know which one I'd prefer to have.

 

1. Ability to affect space/time continuum - That ability would be so powerful, you could do tons with it. However, you could cause a lot of damage with it very easily. This ability seems to be a double edged sword to me. Especially if put in the wrong hands.

 

2. The Illusionist - This is one of the most amusing powers I've encountered, in the respect that a person could have so much fun with it. However, it is also one of the most terrifying powers, as you could traumatize people for life very easily. It would also be a bad power for a recluse to have, as then they could spend their life living in a fantasy world and quickly lose contact with other people or start to blur their perception of reality.

 

3. Telekineses - To move basically anything with my mind? How convenient.

Other then being an empath with flying as a side ability I want Flying!

 

God to fly would be sooo sweet

 

Other then flying I'd like actually Linderman's ability to heal others or Clair's ability to self-heal

 

Abilities that would be awesome and they haven't shown: Shapeshifting (well the illusions slightly but I mean real here), super speed (other then Nathan/West's flying faster then sound), an ability to manipulate shadows.

Hiro's power of being able to control the Space/Time thing is the power I have always wanted. Just imagine... you could easily get a full night's sleep even if just an hour actually passes! And just think of the practical jokes...

If Claires regenerating ability works on hangovers, that's the one I'd want  ;D

Well theoretically if you had Claire's regenative abilities you probably wouldn't have to worry about hangovers at all since you'd wouldn't ever get drunk.  Man think of all the drinking contests she could win =)

You also wouldn't age past the point of getting your powers.

And what happens if, at the time your self-healing powers manifest you're a big goober? That would suck to be stuck a goober for your whole life. Remember, not everyone blessed with self-healing powers is gonna be a super hot cheerleader babe (although, in my opinion they should be).

I assume you could still change your body by dieting and exercising, change your hair with a cut, and your face with makeup. Those are really more important for 98% of the population than any sort of surgery would be.

 

However, regarding hair removal, I assume you can cut your hair, since it is not alive, but perhaps plucking or waxing wouldn't slowly prevent hair growth as it does in normal humans, because the damage it does to the root would be healed. Poor Claire. At least she has blonde hair.  ;D

Huh...never thought of that. No bikini waxing for Claire, I guess. Of course, it doesn't matter much to me anyway, since I like my girls au-naturale. Except for strippers, of course. Hairy strippers = no tip.

Well they don't all have to be superhot cheerleaders.  Look at Wolverine.  He's kinda shmugly, but he pulls it off.  Oh and I guess for the hair thing if he's any indication hair does automatically grow back.  Well at least his does.

Yes, but Wolverine's just a whole lot o' man. I think that's comparable to being a superhot cheerleader.

... Sorry, I got distracted with thoughts of... nevermind. Anyway. We can't really take his hair growth as cannon for Heroes, since his regeneration has a different cause, and exists in a different world than the Heroes world. The rules are almost assuredly different. ^_^
