Okay, so this is only vaguely relevant to this thread but I didn't want to start a new one and clutter up the game board.

 

Is it likely that we'll need another set of mafia accounts soon? We already have more than one game on the go at once. The board may get busier, or it may not, but at some point a game will be scheduled to start with the special accounts when the last game to use them isn't done yet.

They also have the effect of dictating the size of games. A situation may arise when more anonymous accounts are needed for a single game. It would be difficult to add to the current theme as it is already stretched as far as it will go. There are no more Forsaken. Similarly, a person who needs the accounts for a smaller game will effectively take up the whole set, unless there is another, even smaller game going on. This isn't very economic.

I propose that if ever another set is needed it be based on a more expandable theme such as colours, fruit/veg, countries, world cities or celebrities, that can be added to easily and divided up arbitrarily between different games (maybe not celebs ... I can hear it now ... "No, I want Al Pacino!" "No way am I taking Celine Dion" etc).

 

On another track entirely, a smaller set could be created to foster smaller and therefore shorter games to improve the flow of things. Shorter games means people have less time to wait to get involved. Games of seven players can only last three days unless the doc successfully prevents a kill. I think a series of fast and furious games would ideal for competitive players or those who just don't want to commit to a month-long twentyish player game.

well as to running out of accounts for single games, it doesn't have to just be the forsaken. That was simply a theme everyone liked I suppose.

 

But even among forsaken, they do have "public sides" like halima for Aran'gar.

well, it doesnt really matter what they are called. but I see your point GeeGee my dear, so i'm sure we'll think about it. i'm pretty sure we have to ask the admins as well before creating that many new accounts. but i'm not sure.

I've actually given some thought to this already.

 

Alt accounts are an option that do not have to be used if you don't want to. If you are concerned about having more accounts, there are the names that the various forsaken have gone by, as Vem said, Halima for example, is one of those already. The set of accounts CAN be expanded upon.

 

Other sets can be created if need be too, for example, one of the options discussed for the current set of alts was the names of the various cities and countries in Randland. At this point, I don't think we need more sets of alt accounts yet, as they should hopefully never be requested for a newbie game, and we don't have the numbers to run 2 full games at once yet. They are something to keep in mind for the future though.

Niether do I.  I think the Alts should be used for more extreme games like the Double Blind.  The way I see it, there are 3 types of games.  Newbie, Advanced (Werewolf/Vampire/ect, ect.), Extreme (Double-Blind/Suras Hunt/Insane).  And the Alts don't have to be used for every extreme game.

Yeah I think that danya has nialed it when she said that there is no need.  I think the ones that we have now will suffice.  I guess until one day the boards are to the point where we want to run more than one game with alt accounts.... but we're a ways from that.

and to be clear, to you people who want more Mafia accounts:

 

the reason they were created was because tehre was only a "limited group" who played Mafia, and they had been playing alot together. so people started using other games to say how things was in that game (I even know its been used in some of the newer games, even tho we all know the games have NOTHING to do with eachotehr) but still, it was kind of a problem. so our beloved and muchly missed Sirayn, came up with the idea of having anonomous (dont you dare laugh at my spelling).

 

therefor I see absolutly no reason why we should have more mafia accounts, as one of the things with a newbie game isnt only that they should learn the game, but also that they should get to know eachother.

 

I know i've been wording myself clumsily in this post. I blame the whitewine and various other alcohol containing beverages.

 

but I will just like to say that another set of Mafia accounts gets a big NO from me. sorry.. but I just dont see the need.

 

if you can convince me that there is a need, I will be happy to change my mind. just please do not repeat any of the reasons I have mentioned here, nor any of the reasons previously mentioned in this thread, as it obvously failed to convince me. thank you

I agree.   For now let's just let the new mafia character thing drop.  When there is a need for new accounts, like when the boards are more active, this issue can be re-addressed.  If you absolutely feel the need to convince otherwise PM me.
