Hi, I'm Stefania. I've been on DM for a while now but I have mainly been active with the Band. A little birdie told me about all of the fun that you sash-wearers have so I thought I would come by and see if you had any openings for Alabama girls.

Posted

We have plenty of openings, and I'll even forgive the Alabama part. ;)

Welcome by the Kin! Lemme know if you want to be more permanent... ;)

. . . I thought I would come by and see if you had any openings for Alabama girls.

Only if they're Auburn fans . . .  ;)  LOL!

Welcome to the Kin!  I'm still pretty new here, too.  See my pretty blue sash? *waggles ends of sash*

Oh, and may I be the first to give you the Kin's traditional welcome poke with my beautiful blue knitting needles?  *pokes Stefania Sedai*

Other will be along eventually to give you a more proper greeting.  Of course, if you give me a big "WAR EAGLE!" I'll give you a big hug.  However, any comment containing the words roll or tide will be immediately and severely punished with pokes from a thousand knitting needles.   ;D

*Eyes Daruya warily* Oll-Ray Ide-Tay. *Braces for pokes* I'm sorry, I simply CANNOT say the other. There's not enough Listerine in the world to get that taste out of my mouth!

:o

*channels a shield around herself as thousands of knitting needles shower down on the poor, misguided Stefania Sedai*

I can tell you all about bad taste and Listerine.  My hands feel dirty after typing those "other" words and I didn't even put them one after the other!

*hurries back after scrubbing and disinfecting hands*

I guess we can get along as long as we don't talk about football . . . or college . . .

Just sign me,

Daruya

's ok, though, Daruya, I still love you. ;)

*Winks* Well, really, I'm not so sure. Not if you allow people to use such horrid language in their posts!  ;)

All football kidding aside, thank you all for the warm welcome. I didn't know anything about the Kin here on DM until Twinnie gave me such a warm review of you. I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

*smirks* we're the best kept secret on this server, I think. ;) I also think we kinda like it that way... *laughs*

Georgia . . . pthphhtphtpthptht

You and my neighbor.  He's a rabid Georgia fan, too.  His wife is an LSU fan but he "makes" her wear Georgia colors.

Believe it or not, I do get along with some Alabama fans.  Two of my son's football coaches are Alabama fans.  A couple of his baseball coaches were, too.  *shakes head sadly*  What is this world coming to . . .?

This looked so pretty last time I have to do it again, only bigger . . .

I've got one even worse. My husband is a Tennessee fan. YUCK! I tell everyone that we are a mixed marriage! He's even got my 5 yr old son saying "Go Big Orange".

OK, so I've decided to tell you all about me. I'm 26 years old and I live in North Alabama. I've been married for 6 years and I have two children, Nathan who turned 5 last week and Lacey who is 3. I have a B.A. in Psychology from Athens State University and I am currently employed as a Vocational Services Counselor with the Tennessee Valley Rehabilitation Agency. In my job I go into north Alabama high schools and teach classes on job skills to special needs students. TVRC also helps these individuals to find jobs after high school.

My husband Shane recently accepted the call to the ministry and was licensed to the Southern Baptist Convention. He begins classes with the New Orleans Seminary extension service later this month. Right now he works a rotating swing shift at 3M so I sleep alone at least a couple nights a week during what I call my "mini-vacations." I put the kids in bed at 8 and have the rest of the evening to myself to clean, read, or gorge myself with ice cream.

Well, can't think of much else short of telling you my measurements so if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

It's great to learn more about you, Stefania!

I used to tease one of Logan's baseball coaches who was a Bama fan and say "War Eagle!" every time I saw him.  He just smiled and said, "Auburn isn't so bad - it's Tennessee I can't stand!"  :D

My college roomie, who grew up a Bama fan but who went to Auburn with me, and ended up being a bigger Auburn fan than I am (LOL!) married a Florida grad.  Mixed marriages like that make for interesting football seasons, don't they?  ;)  Of course, I'm raising my boys up right and they already say "War Eagle" whenever they see someone in an Auburn hat or t-shirt.  ;D

About me - I'm old enough to be your mom if I started young.  I have been married for 14 years and have 2 boys.  My oldest is 9, my youngest is 8.  Logan is into football and baseball; Josh is not.  He's taking riding lessons (yes horses! Woo-hoo! A riding buddy!) and he likes NASCAR.  He's my charmer and has had more than one little girl attach themselves to him.  One has already warned off all the other little girls in her age group saying that he's HER boyfriend.  Oy . . .  :o  My oldest has an adorable little girl following him around, too; she adores him, he tolerates her! LOL!

I'm a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Navy (but not in the U.S. Navy).  John is a retired Navy diver now working as a PTA/CLT.  We have 1 dog, Max (a rescued Golden Retreiver) and 2 Arabian horses, Taz & Revere.  Oh, and let's not forget Josh's carnival goldfish, Nemo, and the 2 oto-cats.

Sounds like you have a wonderfully full life, Daruya! Mine certainly keeps me on my toes. Did I mention that my oldest starts kindergarten Monday? If there are tears on all of my posts that day please be understanding!

Awww... poor Mom! I can wait for that, myself. Luckily, I've got 5 years or so for it. *grins*

There are SOME perks about Peanut not being here, yet, I guess... ;)

Chalk it up to me being new around here (cause I'm sure everybody knows already), but do you know if it is a boy or a girl yet?

Posted

Oh, kindergarten . . . I remember those days.  *sniffles*

They grow so fast.  I can't believe mine are 8 and 9.  Seems like we just brought them home from the hospital, I blinked, and now they're 8 and 9.  *sighs*

We do stay pretty busy.  I have my horse, Taz, in training.  He's doing great and the trainer loves how trainable he is!  I'm hoping to start showing him this year, assuming I can find where I left my courage and confidence to ride (it's been way too long since I was on a horse!).

We attend a Southern Baptist church, though we didn't know it was Southern Baptist when we first started going. ;D It's an awesome ministry!  BTW, our trainer and his wife go to the same church -- he plays drums in one of the worship teams.  The music at our church is phenomenal.

That sounds great! Do you live in Alabama now? My husband played drums with a contemporary Christian band for 3 years. They were pretty good but they just had too much going on to go anywhere with it.

Peanut's a girl! *grins and beams* I'm not getting stuck with a houseful of boys! YAY! *dances around and sings*

Stefania, we're in Florida now, though the part of Florida we're in has been called L.A. in the past (L.A. as in Lower Alabama! LOL!).  We're in the Florida Panhandle.

And, yes, Lor is having a girl.  A cute little girl to dress in frilly pink frou-frou dresses with lacey ribbons in her hair and . . . OUCH!  Lor, stop throwing things at me!

That's what little girls are for. I was upset when I found out I was having a girl because i always pictured myself with a housefull of boys. But Lacey has been my little doll! She's been in pageants and she loves to dress up like a princess! We paint her toenails and sometimes we roll her hair. She picks out her own earrings and carries around a purse just like Mommy! She's my little play thing and she knows it and loves it!

Baseball? Hate to tell you, but no one in the south cares about baseball. Down here football is king. And Oregon State? Puhleeze!

Posted

LOL

college baseball is MOST popular in the Pac-10.... and..... THE SEC!!!

And Oregon State is the defending Champion 2 years and running! And in football, they were the team that FINALLY toppled Southern Cal, and they had 10 wins in the season!

*quietly puts down the book she was about to hurl over* girlie doesn't bother me in small doses. Pink, however, absolutely disgusts me. Once we get out of the clothes that people are buying Peanut as gifts, the outfit will have to be REALLY CUTE for me to swallow buying something pink...

Baseball is only important when the Braves are winning the pennant. *grins* I've been entrenched in NASCAR too long to care about baseball, however. *makes sure Kellan wasn't around to hear that*

I'm just glad I'm having a girl because of how bad boys clothes suck... *shakes her head* I'll worry about that next round... gimme a few years to get over all the cute frills and stuff...
