I don't know, I spend more time playing online RPGs and such than anything else... Nothing can be as addictive as those. At least I won't believe it until I see it.

I think it's addictive in a different way. Just wait until you get paranoid and have to check in on the game every 5 minutes to see if someone is suspecting you or if you're getting lynched or whatever.  ;D

Kryos, I started wow back in the march the first year it was out. I *just* quit in April before i began here. I only started these murderer games in June.

Don't even get me started on that heap of junk called WoW... I myself am sick and tired of every MMO out there being fantasy based. Only reason why I still play SWG even after it got royally thrashed by SOE.

I'm a fan of sony...not a very big fan, apparently.

Sony Online Entertainment to be exact... but about a year and a half ago or so, they took Star Wars Galaxies from a purely skill based game to a leveling system and killed off most of the professions they had and took away having an alpha class you actually had to earn and made it a starting profession, namely Jedi. After the so called New Game Enhancements, or NGE for short, about half the subscriptions for SWG were cancelled. I can understand drastic game rewrites while in planning, maybe even Beta, but 2 years into a game is not a time to do a total rewrite of the fundamental laws of that game. But, I still play cause I love Star Wars.

I played SWG too, my FIRST MMORPG and that was a lot of fun but it got boring after awhile.  I hear it's very similar to WoW now also.  Hmmmmmmm I wonder why? 

 

Next I played CoH and that was my favorite by far just because of the super powers involved and the amount of people I knew on it.  Surprisingly though it hasn't done too well.  I eventually stopped because of the WoW.

 

I played WoW for awhile because of my friends then it became too boring even with them so I stopped. 

 

I also tried out tMO but I couldn't get into that at all.

 

In the end I got MMORPGed out.  I'm glad too because they take WAY too much time.  Just my two cents.

It must have been brutal.  Did you at least get any perks for some of the Profs you mastered?

 

I was a twileek master TKA.  Sniff good times.  SWG was really cool back in the day.

I agree with this statement, i shouldn't have to put 15 days worth of play time and then an additional 10 days worth of play time in to getting level, gear & rep to actually be able to play the game.

 

levels 1-20 are fun for every race with a good plot line and a cool environment. Then it sucks horribly till level 60. Upon level 70 its back to the same gear grind I just spent 3 years playing at :P

People who had Jedi before the change over got new robes, and everyone who had a toon before the change over, every toon got a special ability which doesn't really do much per say. And I got cheated out of having a Jedi before hand... Got stuck going to Iraq for a year and when I came back, the NGE had just started.

Guys, when we were granted this new board for the games, Kath specifically asked that we not allow game chat about consoles and mmo's, etc. to be here.  There are several other place on DM that offer this. Just 2, I've already posted advertisements in the Kin and BotRH org

 

and I've pmed a ton of other org leaders asking to be able to.

 

Especially since i think like only 1 or 2 players this round are actually playing for the first time, we are going to need some more new players soon or else we gonna have to stop the "new player games" sicne after your 3rd new player game your pretty well set for the real thing.

To be honest, I never thought the newbie games would happen this frequently... just when we have a bunch of interested newbies. I was thinking that a signup for a newbie game might end up lasting a few weeks while more newbies make their way over.

What if we created a thread for people who are interested in learning how to play and then every time we get 10 new people who want to play we get 2 experienced players and a mod and have a new player game?

 

10 people stumbling in here on there own and signing up is the problem, likely most will just jump into the real games and get washed away.
