Yes. If you cross reference this data with the historical data from televisionstats.com, you'll see that there was a significant spike in engagement with Wheel of Time content in mid-February. It went from #369 overall on February 6 to #151 overall on February 13 and then climbed again to #75 overall on February 21.

Parrot's rolling average would take into account this spike which, I suspect, was related to viewers going back to re-watch in advance of S3 and tuning in to watch the 11-minute special release.

Correct. But what is wrong with that? Parrot explains precisely what the data set does:

Can you explain why or how this is somehow invalid?

Right. I'm sure this multi-million dollar analytics company (currently valued at $13.4M) who is trusted by many industry leaders is rolling out "a site designed to produce a couple of good looking graphs."

I just don't see that much value in comparing WoT(current) to I Love Lucy.

I can see the value of the analytics in comparing Seinfeld to I Love Lucy as that gives you an engagement score on inactive series. I can even see the value of comparing WoT S1 in January to those shows as it can give an idea of interest during completed seasons. Maybe it gives some type of measurement I just question it's value.

I never said it was invalid. Hell I am not even sure what they are using to generate their numbers so how I could make a call on it's validity is beyond me.

It also seems to me that it is designed to produce results for new programs that are almost guaranteed to fall into the top end of the tier, only 8 times the engagement required to place a show into the outstanding category when compared to the entire back catalogue.

Also why does that table work out to only have 98%.

Speaking of I love Lucy does WoT really have only just over double the engagement?

Seems to me there is value in knowing everything that people are watching. The fact that I Love Lucy is still drawing views demonstrates what I high quality show it is.

An “inactive series” with staying power is worth studying. And if your product isn’t beating “Frasier” reruns, that tells you quite a bit.

It isn't, though.

Television shows being renewed either before or during the broadcast of their current seasons, while more common now than it has been in the past, is still not Standard Operating Procedure for the TV industry, which normally only makes renewal and cancellation announcements in May at the Upfronts.

But that is for TV that operates on an annual season model.

Digital streaming series broke that model some time ago, and WOT has never followed it.

A more meaningful comparison is to what Amazon has previously done with this series - or at least with its original series in general.

I haven't dug into what they have done for their other shows, but for this series, Amazon announced the renewal for season 2 four months before season 1 premiered.  They announced the renewal for season 3 FOURTEEN MONTHS before season 2 premiered.  There has been a gap between seasons (so far) averaging nineteen months.

The gap between green-light announcements and season premiers is even more problematic.

Season 2 premiered 28 months after it was announced.

Season 3 premiered 32 months after it was announced.

At this rate, if Amazon announces tomorrow that the series is renewed for season 4, it won't premier until mid-2028.

How much audience interest will still remain - now matter how popular it is this season?
