Today, at Community Circle, we had a special announcement. Our school won a competition to collect the most soda cans for recycling. The prize is a visit from Sea World. The teacher in charge of the project told us today that they'd come next week and one of the animals they would show is an American alligator.

One of my boys, the extreme duuuude, who walks around muttering, "I like swords.", turned to me and said "Mrs. Liang, I have a question."

I looked at him and said, "No, you may not wrestle the alligator."

"Oh maaaaaan!"

I love my students.

I'm teaching them to make chainmail next week. This self same kid is INSISTING that we make combat ready mail, so that when he sword fights he won't get stabbed. He also made a habit of writing his homework entirely in the Greek alphabet. Not IN Greek, mind you. Just using that alphabet. I would have complained, but that was the most work I'd seen from him all semester.

Kids are awesome! I miss teaching my kid students in Japan... ^_^ Still sounds like you have a handful. Watch that one and pass him a WoT book when he's eating lunch. :P

I've tried. He won't sit still long enough to read. However, when they take the CRCT next week, I plan on making my sample copies of TEOTW the only reading material they are allowed.

That's great! And then you will have soon amassed an army of RJ fans!

Sword Guy will NOT shut up about the alligator. This morning he came in and asked me if he could feed his best friend to it.

Now, as a Classicist, who studies Greek, does he use the right length for the E's and O's??

If there's any such thing as karma, I'm pretty darn happy I changed my mind about going into teaching...

My karma indicates that I should never have children. They will only cause me sorrow. And strained muscles from all the beatings.

He wears out faster than I do. No, most of the beatings will have to be administered by me.

Well, always remember to mix the beating with the random swift kick in the rear, that saves the arms a bit. :D

*holds up her hand*

Ummm... actually I have discovered that children hate phys ed more than anything else. Push ups, sit ups, crunches, wall squats, heck, just make 'em hold a book straight out for a couple a minutes and watch 'em turn to jelly!!! And that way you don't get tired or strain any muscles, they do.
