Ben, I think what Shad is saying is that he's going to attempt to figure you out, regardless of his alignment. If he's town, it's for real. If he's scum, he has to pretend. Even if you're both scum he has to pretend to figure you out. 

 

I don't think there's any reason to be offended about him using the word fake in this context.

Because I am no longer active in the other game, I have time to spend on this one, but I will not spend it engaging in your jokes about mafia chat or some "fake attempt" to figure me out. I think that's reasonable and straightforward unless it skirts rules about mentioning ongoing games, but since there is nothing substantive in my two posts about the other game (I am playing another game/ I am no longer playing another game), I feel like it is acceptable. If not, sort me out on it, or let Sooh, since she's playing here and is a mod on the other site. *shrug*

You keep insisting that I openly claimed that my attempt to figure you out was fake.

 

I did not say this.I rebuffed what I took to be an accusation of OMGUS by stating that I have to necessarily either be a villager attempting to figure you out or a wolf faking an attempt to figure you out.

 

Do you understand the difference?

@Sooh. What is your take on BFG? Am I reading too much into her paranoia and probing? I've only seen her play wolf once, and she didn't didn't so it then, and each time she's been town, this is how she's played, but making meta reads feels fragile to me because I still have a fairly small sample size from everybody.

You hid in meta, tried to pocket people, played a mediator which made it hard to see an agenda and cast subtle aspersions on people the way you are doing with me in this game. The real attack on me is not openly claiming that we're scumbros; it's how you phrase references to my posts, using words like stubborn, derail, accountable, without coffee and a shower, I'd say it's NAI, etc. You came at me with a jokey, friendly, off-the-wall thing, and when I simply claimed town and didn't argue argue beyond that, giving you no lever to paint me as a wolf, you started trying to subtly erode what I say and am likely to say or do (like sticking to an honest position) by discrediting it with carefully-chosen adjectives. You are a wordsmith, and you are crafting your words to color the other players' perceptions of whatever I might say. This is what you did in the last game, too. That's my general takeaway on your scum game.

I don't hate you reading that into my post about you towards BFG.  It's massively different from calling you suspicious, but you could certainly fairly interpret it as an attempt to subtly erode some town credit a player chucked your way.

 

I would suggest avoiding hastiness, as it colors your word choice and misleads people regarding your actual suspicions.  I didn't call (or think) you scummy in that instance, so stating that I did rubs off as a blatant misrepresentation.  What you said above makes a fair bit more sense.

That being said, the odds that I would play a game this bold and front-running after having nearly won against a tough field through my usual back-seat method (which, I might add, I don't need to worry about anyone cross-referencing) are fairly slim.  I think if you look at the broad perspective and not that particular comment about you, you might get a different take.

 

(Also claiming wolf is super productive for me as a villager besides giving me a few chuckles.  What were we discussing before I did it?  Baking?)

I think the hastiness comes from bias, in that it feels scummy, so I say it is scummy, but it can end up being the very thing I am accusing you of doing.
