from searching Ideal Seek, I found 20 occurrences of the phrase "fool man" and 53 entries where both words are used.
http://idealseek.no-ip.com/IdealSeek.cgi?q=fool+man&t=0&c=0&p=0&d=3
"stupid"; 75 entries.

"how dare he"; 7 entries.

It seems to me that very few characters of this series hate the opposite gender. most characters to me seem to respect the opposite gender.

about the glass column visions, difference in details would be enough for me. If details of a prediction are different, the whole prediction would be different.
about killing the Dark One; the Dark One becoming dead/destroyed I take would cause the Pattern to become destroyed (since the Pattern seems to need both Creator and Dark One to exist). And the Pattern becoming destroyed I take would cause existence (of all people/animals/creatures/things/etc) to become dead/destroyed (since those seem to need the Pattern to exist).
Not sure if any person/animal/creature could change the nature of time with any action. I would guess that only the Creator could change the nature of time; and maybe also the Dark One when free.

About the Black Tower, to me Rand did not "leave them to their fate"; he sent a messenger to them.
About which for Rand to bring back; there seems to be no prophecies in the books about Bela. There were several prophecies about Lan.
And from what I skimmed, it seems that Rand saw just the people deaths.

WoT is my all time fav series, but I would pay a LOT to see it made into a movie or tv series. To do that, it would need to be abridged.
That seems somewhat different than what this thread seems to be talking about; shortening the books.
Any book-based movie/show would be shorter than the book/books, yet only the script would be changed; the original book/books would be unchanged. Also, the film/show makers would have final say on which book scenes are included or not included.
A summary of all scenes in order of their time settings would to me be the best version of shortened books. That way, each reader could read the scenes they want to read.

As far as I recall, there was only one myrddraal's name mentioned in the series:: Shaidar Haran.
Though like another poster told, he is unlike other myrddraal.
other myrddraal; there seems to be too few differences to tell them apart or to count the number that appear on-screen.

There is a encyclopedia/companion coming up. Last deadline I recall was November 2015.
And it is the last book for this series.
of what I read/skimmed of the Sanderson books, they seem nicely done.
there were a number of scenes written by Robert Jordan. as far as I recall, there has been very little revealed on who wrote what.
"main plotline", "main characters"; those are vague terms. Different readers could have different ideas on what is "main".
There might be better chance of understanding the series as a whole if all written scenes in this series are included.
-
relevance & meaning not arbitrary? there are at least 2 types of meaning:: connotation and denotation.
and what seems relevant to one person might not seem relevant to another; and vice versa.
place descriptions in this series seem relevant to at least me. Slight chance of understanding the events without descriptions of the places.
-
relevant/meaningless/etc; those can be different to different people.

Finished Crossroads of Twilight some time ago. Am on Knife of Dreams now; read through chapter 3 this time through.
-
I would like all time measurements in the series to be consistent; though they might have already fixed this.
-
some past thread speculated whether the series could be reduced to 6 books.
One of my posts in that thread went something like this::
"All the events in the series could probably be summarized in one book, possibly less. With the proper amount of detail, that summary could be expanded to 6 books."
Best chance for a shorter version of this series might be if it was fan-made.

have read my 3rd time through of Shadow Rising through Winter's Heart. Do not remember exact dates.
Am on my 3rd time though of Crossroads of Twilight. read through chapter 4 this time through.

Chapter 33?
It seems to me that Perrin was complaining about the Pattern and that Moiraine corrected him.

to wombat (post #28)::
I generally do speak/type about literal sense; regardless of the topic.
to no-one in particular:
the title of this thread is somewhat confusing. spin-off to me implies that it would take place roughly around the same time of the main series.

I do not recall Mat becoming a court jester or he being dressed in motley.
mb you crack me up mate.
What were the exact words of Sanderson's admission?
It's been quoted numerous times but once again:
However, in going back to Mr. Jordan's writing and delving into it, I realized I'd missed large parts of what made Mat into Mat—the tension between what he says and does, the constant little quips in narrative (which tend to be more clever than the actual things he says out loud), the complaining that isn't really complaining. I didn't understand Mat. I tried so hard to make him funny, I wrote the HIM out of him.
In my first sentence of the post, I was speaking about the literal sense.
"different" seems more accurate than "less". some might consider a court jester higher ranking than a rogue.

Am I the only one who liked how Brandon Sanderson wrote Mat? He had some of the funniest lines in the entire series.
I also liked Mat in the Sanderson books.

but what about going back to Tuons home land and work that angle and new prophecies and battles and intrigue?
the main series told in the perspective of the Seanchan continent?
Robert Jordan told that there would be no more on screen scenes than Rand's & Aviendha's visit there.
-
Mb, but Jordan made it very clear that there was a lot to these Talents, like Foretelling, that the AS didnt understand and may not be accurate about. So just because the AS named this Talent "Foretelling", that doesnt mean that a Foretell-er can ONLY see the future.
Could you provide exact words and a link?
Searched the Robert Jordan section of the 13th Depository site. Did not find anything telling those things.
Still think that it was told before fulfillment. Earliest time for fulfillment; I think minutes after it was told.

by the prefix "fore", the telling always comes before fulfillment. if the telling came after fulfillment, the term would be post-telling; and if at the very moment, probably just "telling".
-
If it was told the very moment (or after), it would not be a Foretelling.
And at least 1 other Foretelling in this series is spoken in present tense:: Nicola's in Lord of Chaos.
-
From my understanding, all Foretellings in this series are told before their respective events.
the Foretelling to me only gives conditions for the date, not the date itself.
Also, some later scene in the book comments about the date. chapter 8; last paragraphs.
