  1. Do we even have that in the WoT universe?  And wouldn't a double-bladed weapon be a two-handed thing?

The weapons in WoT are pretty much open to anything within reason I would believe.  This is not a modern weapon.  It is a buckler about the size of a frisbee with blades so it is single handed meant for your off hand.  It is definately not a 2 handed weapon.

There is another version called the madu which is more crude.  It was like the Singuata just that they used antelope horns instead of blades.

  2. yeah, that's a good plan to ignore me.  First you break my hip, then try to make it better, and no ignore me.  Such a good and healthy relationship we have going....  ::)

    That sounds perfectly healthy!  ;D

  3. Perivar arrived in a better mood this time.  He was more rested and things were getting better.  He still grimaced anytime he held or caught sight of the sword he had to borrow.  He was seriously considering a change of weapons.  For now though he would stick with the borrowed bastard sword but would explore other forms.

Perivar bowed to Master Kynwric and offered the others a polite nod and a smile.  That's right he smiled and this time it wasn't forced.  Perivar patiently waited for the fun to begin.

He had been practicing the Advanced forms whenever he was not on Guard duty or otherwise occupied.  He still had the concept of Sheathing the Sword tucked in the back of his mind.  Master Kynwric said it wasn't something you thought about, you just did it.  Well he had thought about it quite often.  It still seemed odd even though Master Kynwric's reasons for doing so made sense.  He was willing to take a blade in the course of duty but he was not sure about actaully welcoming it or purposely leaving himself open to it.  Well if he ever needed it it was there.

Perivar was a little nervous, sure they had come very far in their training but now they were about to spar with real weapons.

  4. "Yes my love I am mad though I doubt there is anything that your power can do to heal me."  Taking her arm in his he began to escort through the lavish courtyard.  "I am madly in love with you.  There is no cure nor do I wish for there to be one."  He followed his words with a sincere smile.  The courtyard was decorated with beautiful flowers, ornate lampposts, and stone benches.  He was happy to see that it was vacant for the moment.

Perivar guided her up a spiraling staircase, well it was more like a spiraling ramp on the exterior of the building.  The second and third floors of the building had balconies that were in the shape of a wave that was breaking away from the building.  The Ogier made this building and it was amazing.  He would love to see how their masons could make a building such as this one. Passing the second level they continued up the spiraling stone ramp to the third floor balcony.  The balcony wrapped halfway around the building on the west side which was almost circular in shape.  From the balcony you could look north and see the Tower or look south and see southharbor.  Some of the view was obstructed by other buildings though the view was still breathtaking.

"I'll just be a moment." Perivar left her to take in the view.  Pulling the key from his pouch he opened the door that did not seem like a door.  If you didn't know it was there you would never see it.  Perivar quickly lit the candles and lamps then returned to Kabria.

"Breathtaking isn't it?"  He waited for her to say it was then he replied "I meant you Kabria, not the view.  The view is nice but it does not compare to your beauty."  Perivar took her arm.  "Let me show you our refuge."  She eyed him so he obliged.  "It is ours, I have rented it for as long as we need."  He put a finger to her lips to stop her protest.  "I know my love, it is just a place to come when you need some time away.  I have a key for you so you can come whenever you desire.  That is the reason for the story, it would seem odd for a Tower Guard to rent such a place as this but not for the son of an Arafellin Lord."

With a smile on his face he pushed open the door.  The first room they entered was like a large study.  Elaborate bookcases lined the walls each filled with books of all types.  Half of a dozen soft cushioned chairs with throw pillows were scattered throughout the room.  The study was circular in shape, at least 20 paces from side to side.  Ornate oiled lamps lined the room giving off the perfect amount of light to read by.

Perivar was standing behind her but he could almost see the look on her face.  Perivar unclasped her cloak pulling it off her shoulders then hung it on the coat rack by the door.  He brushed the hair from the back of her neck and gently kissed it.  Perivar wrapped his arms around her body pulling her closer to him as he continued to softly kiss her neck.  He felt the fire rage inside him, felt his heart pounding.  He was so nervous but he felt so alive.  Worried that he could not control himself he let her go.  It took every ounce of willpower to pry his arms from her.

"Go ahead my love, have a look around.  It does not have as many books as the libraries in the Tower but it is one of the largest personal collections that I have ever seen."  His eyes drift to the other door.  The door to the master bedroom was opened wide.  In the doorway you could just see a hint of the rose pedals that lined the floor.  She would not know but the rose pedals ran from the doorway to the large canopy bed which was big enough to sleep six.  Pedals were strewn about the bed as well.  There was a soft glow from the candles that he had lit coming from the elaborate bed chamber that was fit for a King.

Perivar turned to watch as she examined the books on the shelves.  He reveled in the look of joy on her face.  Kabria loved books so this seemed like the perfect place for a little getaway.  "I recall you mentioning something about finding a book that I will enjoy...and if I don't enjoy it..."  When she turned over her shoulder to look at him he gave her a mischievous grin then glanced at the door with the rose pedals barely visible.  She had been so enthralled with the books that he didn't think she ever noticed the bed chamber.

  5. Perivar listened to Master Kynwric's theory on the Ravens.  "I have never heard that though I do not have the benefit of your years.  If that is the case then I will refrain from killing anymore.  It is just that I was brought up with the belief that you kill them at every opportunity.  I am bound to the Tower and not the Borderlands any longer so I will do as you say.  I am sorry if I drew any unwanted attention our way."  It stung a little to say that.  He was no longer a Borderlander, that ended the day he swore the oaths as a Tower Guard.  He was no longer Perivar Tarigan of Arafel.

Master Kynwric left to scout and Kabria decided it was a good time to set him straight.  She started out sweet then in an instant she glared at him hardening her tone.  “I want to hear nothing of honor or obligation or anything else you have to say. You know my words to be fact so accept them and move on.”  It was like being slapped in the face.

If her words stung, it was nothing compared to the way he felt when she turned away from him.  That was like a punch in the gut.  His blood boiled to the point where he thought he might shout.  He formed the void and tamped down his anger.  With all the formality he could muster Perivar bowed deeply in his saddle, glaring at her back as he spoke loud and clear "As you command Aes Sedai."  With that Perivar spun NightDancer around and in a spray of dirt and debris he galloped away to retrieve his arrow from the raven's corpse.  If she didn't want to hear anything from him then he would oblige her.  He wasn't coddling her, he was trying to make sure she survived.  He tried to pass along anything that may help her do that but now he would shut his mouth.  Perivar took his time retrieving the arrow.  His blood was boiling and he knew returning would only irritate him more.  He did not trust himself to keep his mouth shut at the moment.

Perivar let his horse walk back as if they were out for a stroll.  By the time he reached them Master Kynwric had returned.  Loraine Sedai was by his side shielding him from Perivar's vision.  He sat NightDancer several paces away from everyone devoid of expression staring out into the distance.  He had completely missed the exchange when Master Kynwric returned but it did not matter.  He was just there to follow orders, nothing more.  Just a Tower Guard on duty, the thought infuriated him but he pushed it into the flame.
