  1. Perivar's eyes nearly popped out of his head as she continued to lay out what she brought with her.  Light was this how she planned on traveling all the time he thought to himself.  Some of it made him shake his head but she had managed to get all of it here.  He thought his first assessment was wrong.  Instead of packing for a week she had packed for a whole month.

Perivar eyed the small bundle wrapped in blue linen then arched an eye brow.  When his eyes went to her face he saw she held a guilty grin that she did not even try to hide.

"Well what is it? If you show me I may just let you keep all of your belongings."

  2. Geirrin did not have any issues with the constant destruction that seemed to be so prevelant in their training though he wanted to try something different.  He had learned so much since coming to the farm, many things that never would have been had he not come here.  He had never touched a horse before coming here and now he was a passable rider.  Today he decided to learn something else.

Geirrin entered the smithy nodding to the Master Blacksmith who was already hard at work even though the sun was just starting to sshow itself on the horizon. The heat from the burning coals filled the cramped smithy making Geirrin remove his black coat which he unceremoniously hung on a peg on the wall.  Geirrin picked out a leather vest like the Blacksmith wore and tried it on.  He went through two more until he found one that fit him right.  Apparently most Blacksmiths were much wider than he was.

The Blacksmith eyed him as he dipped a finger into each barrel, one plain, one salted, and with olive oil.  Each had there own unique purpose.  He had been here before to make the arrangements and the Blacksmith had shown him around the smithy and told him about the various pieces of equipment.  He had also given him a crash course in how to make something though he knew that Geirrin would not be following the traditional ways of a Blacksmith.  Wherever possible Geirrin would be using saidin to craft the items.

  3. Geirrin noticed Gale watching him so he hammered the last piece of the frame into place then turned to face the man.  Geirrin saw the work the man had done and was impressed.  "Very good, you're a making excellent progress.  If you want you can start hammering those planks onto the frame so we can see what she looks like with a hull.  If you run out of planks then just make some more."

Gale responded then set off to work.  While Gale was hard at work Geirrin decided to get started on the masts and spars.  Embracing the source again he drank in the power.  The Dark One's taint made him want to heave though he pushed it aside.  If not for the taint holding saidin was marvelous.  Everything was sharper, colors were brighter, life seemed dull when not holding it.

Geirrin picked out the perfect log from which to make the main mast.  Well it was the only mast for the fishing vessel would not be that large when it was complete.  It would most likely have a crew anywhere from two to four fishermen.  That was if it ever made it to the water.  That was something that he had not figured out yet though somehow he would find a way.

Geirrin wove the flows and began shaping the mast.  He took his time with it as he wanted it to come out just right.  Geirrin glanced over at Gale and smiled, the man was coming along nicely.  Perhaps the man would become a friend, it was something that he did not have many of here at the farm.

  4. I wanted the Dolphins to beat the Pats last year soooo bad.  *laughs*  Especially when they were still without a win.  It would have been great to break the undefeated and the losing streaks at the same time.

Are you in Miami, Sieve?  I thought you were somewhere less... Florida.

You are right, I am from NJ.  I was born in 1971, they were good in the 70's and my older brother was a fan so I kind of just fell into it.

  5. another option is if he finds some kind of plans, or a crappy one, well we have a blacksmith in the Yards.  I'm sure if you find the proper plans and such that she could forge it.  It would be very strange and such, but finding stuff in books could be another option.

Perfect, Perivar knows someone who loves books.  Perhaps she will turn him onto such a book.  He will bring it the blacksmith and ask him/her to make one.

  6. @ Talavin - I mentioned it above and provided a link that shows you the size of it.  It is one handed, intended for your off hand so yes you would have another weapon in your main hand.  Most likely you would wield a sword in your main hand though spear has been mentioned as well as a possible companion to it.

@ Jehaine - That is correct, the only attacks of significance would be thrusting attacks.  I have played around with a practice version of one of these and it would be nearly impossible to cut or slash with it.  If you were lucky the only cut you may make is if you get lucky when drawing it back.  So yes it is only for blocking and pokey pokey attacks

@ Eqwina - I will write something up for the armory.  Uhmm as to how he found it I will work on.  It is not such an odd thing that it could have been in a dusty shelf in the Armory.  Otherwise Perivar will travel far and wide top find one somewhere.  ;)

  7. "North and East Kabria Sedai" He offered her a polite smile keeping up the ruse.  Aes Sedai and Tower Guard once again.  "We will cross the Osendrelle Erinin then make our way through Daghain." They passed the time with idle chatter as anyone would except them to do.  Once they left the town of Daghain and were finally alone Perivar told her how much he loved and missed her.  He occasionally touched her hand or her leg to emphasize a point as they rode alongside each other.  Lucky for them NightDancer and Blade got along exceptionally well.  He had seen plenty examples of mounts that could not be within a few paces of one another.

Perivar stopped in a clearing about an hour after leaving Daghain.  The small clearing was roughly one hundred paces from the road that led to Fal Dara.  Perivar dismounted then waited while Kabria did the same.  "Well lets see what you brought.  I like to bring a little extra at times but it looks as if you packed for a week."  He laughed then offered her a look that said he was just joking with her.  "Go ahead and empty your saddle bags and whatever is in that bundled cloak."  Perivar waited patiently, he was interested to see what she had brought with her.

  8. Perivar was so consumed with looking into her eyes that he nearly jumped when she touched him.  He felt a tingle go through his body.  He was about to protest though he felt his back loosen from a muscle pull he had not noticed.  He felt the fatigue leaving his body and he smiled at her appreciatively.  He did not have the benefit of being bonded.  Master Kynwric's endurance was better, he could go longer without food and water.  All of these were benefits of the bond but there was nothing to do about it.  The Wheel weaves as it wills.  What was meant to be would be, eventually.

Perivar made as if to talk but nothing came out.  He wanted to apologize, explain to her that he was not coddling her.  He simply wanted her to survive but he couldn't form the words.  He simply sat his mount knee to knee with her waiting on his orders.  He did not want to leave her side.  He did not realize it though he had removed his gauntlet and was fingering the ring that she had given him.  The circle of gold was beautifully decorated with roses.  Next to her love it was the most precious gift that he had ever received.  Unbeknownst to him a smile had formed on his face.

  9. A pained look crossed his face, he cursed himself for being a fool.  Her words made him want to cry but he held it together wiping the tears from her eyes. Perivar thought to make a magical moment for them and all he managed to do was drag up bad memories for her.  In the span of a few heartbeats dozens of thoughts and emotions seemed to strike him from all sides.  Anger at them being kept apart, Anger at himself, Anger at the man who hurt her, feelings of unconditional love for her, sympathy for her pain, lust for her, shame, failure, the weight of wrong decisions.  There was always something in between, something to get in their way.  They could not bond, they could not be open about their relationship, they could not be together at all without something being in the way.

Perivar pushed the thoughts aside and began to think on her words.  He had never been in her position before so he could have no idea how she felt.  All he knew is that she was uncomfortable at the moment.  He had to do something, say something to make it right but what?  It seemed like something that should have pained him more had had a harder impact on her.

Perivar suddenly felt like a child.  Like a child who was courting an older woman who was out of reach.  He had thought there was something between them that made this seem right but he missed the mark.  He worried that he had made the wrong move.  He did not want to seem forward yet he did not want her to think him disinterested especially after their flirting and playful comments.  What could he say...

"I..."  Clearly he was at a loss for words. Not knowing what to say he walked over and shut the door to the bedchamber.  He returned to her and took her hands in his.  "I..I am sorry, I wanted someting special for us.  I feared this might happen."  "I.." He wanted to pace to think of what to say though he still held her hands which kept him from moving.  He would not break contact with her, not now.  There was nothing to say but the truth...

"Kabria I can't possibly fathom what you went through.  Even though it has scarred me just hearing how you are feeling saddens me.  I want to make it go away but I don't know how.  I am scared as well.  I don't know if I will be what you expect or what you want me to be.  All I know is that I will never hurt you but I don't know how to wash away your pain."

"I did not bring you here just for that."  He glanced toward the bedchamber.  "I will not lie that it was not on my mind, I have dreamt of it often.  I was so worried that you would take offense or think me too forward but on the other hand I didn't want you to think that I was not interested.  With all the flirting and suggestive comments that we throw around I thought perhaps it was what you wanted, what we both wanted.  I don't want to push you towards something you are uncomfortable with though I don't want to push you away by having you think that I do not want you in that way."

"My main purpose for bringing you here is so that we could be together.  However we are together is fine by me.  Whether we just talk, or read, or take in the view from the balcony it doesn't matter.  I just want to be with you.  I am sorry but I am new to this as well.  I feel like a stable boy who is trying to court a Queen."  He was clearly uncomfortable and nervous that he was not properly expressing himself.  It was a major flaw of his.  "I just know that I love you more than my simple words can express.  I will wait for you as long as is necessary, forever if need be."

  10. Drager Baras calmly waited as the focus of their meeting approached the small clearing in the Glade.  The man looked confident without a hint of arrogance.  The man knew what he was here for.  By the looks of him he was no stranger to the sword and shield with which he was equipped.  Drager noted the light armor.  So the man had not opted for the heavy armor, he would be quick then he thought.

Drager knew the man's name though little else aside from the fact that he was a Warder.  Drager who was in his thirties now had not followed that path himself.  He choose to stay in the Tower Guard and was currently a Bannerman.  He would be an officer if not for his love of good ale.  He was a gambler too but it was the drink that had held his career back.  Well he was sober today and he was a Blademaster.

Drager who was a Tairen scratched at his telltale pointed beard.  With close cropped dark hair and sharp blue eyes he stood just shy six feet.  He was wiry though toned from long hours spent maintaining his skill with the sword.  He smiled since they both were armed with sword and shield though Drager had the heavier armor of a Guardsman.

Looking at the others he waited for their nods before breaking the silence.  It was his turn to take part in the duel.  He was happy for he preferred to take an active role as opposed to just watching.

With a clear crisp voice he proclaimed “Who comes before this circle to declare themselves worthy of a title so few can claim?  State your claim of why we should accept you into our brotherhood.”

  11. Perivar nodded at Master Kynwric as he responded "yes Sir!".  Without hesitation he spurred NightDancer ahead of the others without making eye contact with anyone.  He left his bow strung, hanging it on his saddle's pommel so it was at hand.

Perivar occasionally sought the void becoming one with his surroundings.  He remained on trail while scanning the flanks checking for an ambush.  There was no reason for their party's presence to be known yet it was wise to be cautious anyway.  It was the unexpected that could kill you quicker than anything.

The rugged landscape offered many hiding spots and did not allow for a clear view in any direction.  Fortunately the group they were after was leaving a dust trail that was easy to follow.  Perivar found more remnants of their snacks yet he put it out of his mind.  A quick glance of the sun showed that it was about an hour after midday.  It was cool but the sun provided a modicum of warmth.  Perivar kept scouting ahead then returning to the group to report that they were getting closer.  He had killed three more ravens though he had expected more.

Perivar was about to top a rise when he caught a glimpse of their target.  Dropping from the saddle he let the reins fall then crawled to the rise.  He studied the group from afar.  A quick scan of the landscape told him that he could get no closer without being spotted unless he choose to go far to the flanks.

He studied the group so he could return with as much detail as possible.  The Trollocs, at least half a fist were in a pack blocking Perivar's view of what he suspected were the victims.  They were cicled around something and it didn't take a scholar to figure it out.  Off to the side a little he spotted three Halfmen that seemed to be discussing or rather arguing over something.  Light three Fades for half a fist was uncommon he thought.  Whatever they were about they were pushing hard enough that they felt it necessary to have three fades to push them.

Perivar crawled backwards away from the rise.  He jumped into the saddle galloping back to the others.  Perivar reined Nightdancer in forcing him to slide to a stop in front of the others.  He glanced at Kabria then let his eyes fall away as he pointed in the direction he had just come from.  "They are on the other side of the rise, roughly a couple hundred paces."  He filled them in on all that he saw.  "I couldn't get a good look at their captives but the Trollocs were circled around something, no doubt it was them.  There are three Fades...three that I could see so perhaps there are more.  It usually only takes one Fade to handle a fist and they have at least three."  Even with the adrenaline pumping through his veins he spoke calmly but he made sure to emphasize the fact.  Perivar glanced at Kabria again, he would protect her no matter what they faced.

  12. Perivar was leaning against the wall by the opening to the North Stable as he waited on Kabria.  The sun was just starting to creep over the tops of the smaller buildings in Tar Valon.  Both NightDancer and Blade were already saddled just waiting patiently for their riders to mount them and leave the city.  Knowing the pair they were probably full of energy and would be begging for a run once out of the city.  For now though they were the perfect image of patience.

Perivar had filled both of their saddle bags with emergency rations and supplies should the worst happen.  He had two waterskins filled for each of them.  One of their priorities would be to find water.  His blades were sharp, his horse bow was in good condition and he had a few spare bowstrings.  Perivar whistled as he ran through the list in his head of things he had prepared making sure he had it all covered.

Perivar wondered how she would feel roughing it for a few days.  He wondered what ship life must have been like.  It didn't seem to him that you could have too many comforts aboard a ship.  Perivar put the thoughts from his mind as he watched her approach.  A smile formed on his face, he never got tired of watching her.

"Good morning Kabria Sedai." He said offering her a formal bow.  "Are you ready to go?  Do you have what you think you need to survive in the wilderness?"

  13. ((OOC: Current Rank ))

Geirrin looked at the others forming up then studied the ground.  Rumors of Shadowspawn spilling from the Blight into the Borderlands.  Trollocs, Lurks, and other creatures of the Shadow.  He had never seem one except for artists renditions or when one of the instructors got creative when making a training dummy.  Geirrin shivered involuntarily at the thought.

Geirrin felt the sword at his hip, he hoped it would not come down to that.  If it did then the battle was as good as lost.  He was much better at wielding the power than he was with a blade.  Not like Martyn he thought, he had seen the man wield the sword he carried and it seemed part of him.  Geirrin had made progress but he would never be as good as Martyn.  He just hoped that the man would be able to channel.  As good as anyne could be with a sword it was nothing next to the power of Saidin.  Geirrin wondered if it came down to it if he himself would actually draw the sword or if he would make an elemental blade from Saidin.  It would have to be the latter, if it came to that...

  14. Has any progress been made with either RP event?  Covai brought up some really good points regarding the bonding.  We should really create an inter div discussion after the respective Div leaders discuss it so things are agreed upon well in advance.  I like Covai's dog clause as a general rule.  It would really be cool to have the two Divs working together in some manner.

  15. On 2 things:

    1) Need Approval to use Chasing the Darkness thread for Road Trip Req.  As a Tower Guard Perivar travels with Loraine Sedai, Kabria Sedai, and Master Kynwric to the Borderlands.  They are hunting shadowspawn at the moment.  His purpose in this thread is to provide protection and to hopefully prove himself worthy of becoming a Warder.

    2) Need approval to recognize a Madu or Singuata as a suitale weapon for the WoT universe.  The discussion is here in this thread though I will post a picture below.  The Madu or Singuata is a small buckler that had either a blade or point extending both above and below the buckler.  The buckler portion is used to block while the blade or point was used for thrusting attacks.

    Example of a Singuata

    edit:

Here is a site that shows both a Madu and a Singuata.

    Thanks!

  16. How long are those blades?  Get permission for it from the leadership.  I've never heard of it before to be honest.

    Approximately 12 inches each.

I will ask one of them to pop in here to render a decision.
