  4. Perivar had tried to get a word in but she did not allow him to speak.  He received the answer he wanted and was ushered out of the room in a hurry.  Light he had everything covered, if anyone was going to get in trouble for this it would be him not her.   He would tell the truth that he did it of his own accord, she had nothing to fear.  She did not need to be angry with him.  He was allowed in the Tower and he was carrying an item for her, who would question that.  It would have only become a problem if someone went so far as to check on the story about her needing to see the seamstress for a fitting, that was an outright lie but it would rest on his shoulders not hers.   She could have refused to meet him and nobody would have known the difference.  He was simply a messenger.

Perivar left the Green Ajah Quarters trying to keep a straight face.  Even though she was angry with him she had agreed to meet him.  As he walked he tried to fix every detail in his mind.  He would store it away so that he knew exactly how to get back to her room in the future if it ever became necessary.  Reaching the ground floor he walked out through the main entry hall of the Tower.  Down the front steps he went then made for the North Stable where the Aes Sedai kept their horses so he could make the arrangements.

Perivar tossed the stable hands a silver mark each and asked them to have her horse ready by midday.  Perivar left the stables to put the rest of the plan into effect.  Actually everything was set he just needed to get himself ready…

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At midday Perivar arrived at the North stable to get Kabria’s horse, Blade.  For the first time in a long while Perivar had left his armor on its stand though it was not in the Barracks in his room.  He had stored it elsewhere for the day.  Perivar wore a tight fitting high-collared coat that went past his waist.  It was black with silver buttons down the front.  Underneath the coat he wore a white shirt with just a hint of ruffled lace spilling from the cuffs and collar.  Perivar wore a pair of Black trousers decorated with silver buttons down the outside of each leg.  His black boots were polished bright.  The final piece of clothing was his cloak naming him a Tower Guard.  The Crimson cloak stood in stark contrast to his black coat and trousers.  Strapped to his back crisscrossed, were his personal swords.  One was a double edged long sword for his right hand and the other a double edged short sword for his left.  Each of the swords silver pommels and hilts were adorned with his family crest.

Perivar gathered Kabria’s horse then made his way to the front steps of the Tower where he patiently waited for her to arrive.  He dismounted and waited patiently humming to himself.  He was a Tower Guard on an escort detail and nothing more.  If anyone noticed his lack of armor they did not seem to think anything of it.  Armor was up to the Guardsman’s personal preferences.  Today was a day to be without armor.

He caught sight of her leaving the entry way and his breath caught.  She was stunning and she was wearing the cloak that he had had made for her.  Light she was beautiful.  As she approached he felt as if his tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth.

Bowing deeply he spoke "An honor to serve Kabria Sedai." He clasped his hands together making a foothold so that she could mount her horse.  He was all business, a Tower Guard just doing his duty.  Gently Perivar nudged NightDancer to a walk and silently listened to the clip clop of their horses hooves as he escorted her away from the Tower heading south.

When they were a block away from the Tower Perivar turned to Kabria and smiled shyly.  "You are so beautiful that my tongue is tied.  I feel as though hundreds of butterflies are fluttering around in my stomach.  I feel like a young boy who is about to kiss his first girl.  I...I am sorry if you are angry with me but you are allowed some free time are you not?  There is no rule that says you can't go for a stroll through the city, or am I wrong in that?  I mean even accepted are allowed to visit the shops in the city.  I thought it would be nice to spend some time together, just you and I."  Light he was like a little kid who couldn't stop talking.  He was as nervous as he had ever been before.  So nervous because he wanted everything to be perfect.

They had gone far enough from the Tower so as not to be seen by the naked eye.  Perivar unclasped his cloak then folded it in half draping it across his saddle.  Kabria eyed him obviously wondering why he had removed the cloak."I am just the son of an Arafellin Lord.  Sent to the Tower to deliver a letter to the Amyrlin.  I am to stay and train in the Warder Yard until the Amyrlin has prepared a response for me to carry back."  They had travelled another couple blocks.  Now he led them down a wide alley to the courtyard at the rear of a large three story building.  Dismounting he helped her down then stabled their horses in the owner's private stable.  The three story building was Ogier made, it was beautiful depicting scenes from the sea.  The exterior of the building was adorned with breaking waves.

  5. Geirrin came back to his project after a couple of days away.  He looked over their progress to capture in his mind where exactly they were.  The Blacksmith, true to his word had delivered a handcart full of nails and spikes.  It was nice to be back to work on the project, he was excited to see it all come together.  It was nice to have someone with an interest in ships helping him.  On top of that the man was refining his skills and possibly learning some new weaves.  It was a learning experience for both of them.

Geirrin embraced the source then wove flows of air picking up the proper beams and supports.  He laid them just so then with another flow of air picked up a spike.  With flows of air holding the pieces in place he created another flow of air and began pounding the spike into the wood.  He looked over his shoulder feeling Gale's presence.

"You can finish cutting those other logs then join me when you are finished."  Turning his head back to his work he drove another spike while Gale got to work.  The man was coming along nicely and his knowledge of ships would payoff when they got deeper into the project.  Piece by piece it began to come together.  A few more days and it would be complete.  He had grown accustomed to how much could be done with the power.  it was good to find a use for it other than destruction.

  6. Perivar didn't like it either.  Master Kynwric was investigating the tracks that Kabria had found so he took the opportunity to approach Kabria.  Their legs touched as he guided NightDancer to stand alongside Kabria's Blade.  He spoke softly for her ears only.  "If anything bad happens, ride west towards Arafel.  Once you are inside Arafel show the necklace with my family's crest and you will have all the help you need.  They will see you safe back to Tar Valon."  He shook his head "Don't argue with me, just listen.  Make sure you are in Arafel, I fear it will not be worth much here in Shienar."

The pain of the thought twisted his face.  The thought of the gift becoming a liability.  He saw the looks he received from the townsfolk when they first entered the town.  If not for his obvious connection to the Tower he had no doubt that they would have tried to run him through.  Things must have gotten much worse since he left for Tar Valon.  Sure there was talk of problems between the two nations though Arafel and Shienar had fought together against the Shadow since Malkier fell.  When Shienar officially became part of the Borderlands.  What were the fools thinking fighting each other when Shadowspawn were running rampant throughout their countries killing their people.  Something was definately not right.

"As a last resort use it here if you must.  The trouble between Arafel and Shienar is much worse than I thought, perhaps it is better while you are in Shienar if you simply ask for aid as an Aes Sedai.  There must still be some in Shienar who would honor a woman in need but it may be too risky to show my family's crest.  I am sorry, I did not give it to you expecting that it would become a liability."  Perivar gave her an apologetic look then took her hand in his.

"Whatever happens just be careful, nothing foolish.  Remember what I told you and what you have learned of Shadowspawn, especially about the Fades.  Their eyeless gaze can inspire fear like you could not imagine.  I have seen veteran soldiers soil themselves.  You must remember to not look directly at their face.  Do not get caught in that gaze and you will be fine."

  7. Perivar was deep in thought listening to Loraine Sedai's words and processing what she said.  He nearly jumped when she touched his hands though her touch was as soothing as her voice.  This experience they were exposed to was far better than any training they had received to date.  This was real, this was what they would face and they had the benefit of an experienced Aes Sedai and two Warders.  It was a time for learning, a time for growth.  Perivar wondered if Kabria would be so understanding, he would regret having to tell her but it had to be done.

He cursed himself for not hearing Melenis's approach.  He spoke as he stood "I believe that she will want to speak to you alone.  Thank you, for everything, I..." He paused a moment "Thank you."   he said then bowed formally before taking his leave.

Perivar returned to the camp which seemed deserted.  Forming the flame he pushed all his emotions into the flame seeking the void.  He unfolded the fan then set about working through the basic and intermediate forms.  While dancing the forms he caught sight of the cart rolling into the camp.  With his senses enhanced it was easy to see the others arriving.  They would not need him so he continued to work the forms.  Right now he needed the distraction that working the forms allowed him.

  8. not necesarily, it's a sign of status IC, and a little bit OOC. You don't hand out power-wrought swords to just anyone ;)

I was not necessarily thinking of it as the White Tower having a stash of Power Wrought weapons that they were handing out.  I was thinking more of inheriting one, similar to how Melenis came about her Grandfather's Ashandarei.  For all anyone knows it could be a power wrought weapon.  Not sure how much sense I am making it is early and I have only had one cup of coffee.

Edit after I truly woke up:

Being that Perivar lost his sword *eyes Eqwina*, I was thinking of applying for one.  My story was going to be that it (PW Swords) has been in Perivar's family for generations.  Given to them decades ago by the White Tower for their continued loyalty and service.  Perivar would not have had a clue that his father possessed such a sword.  When he finally visited his family sometime in the future and they learned he had become a Warder his father would give him the sword.

    I have 2 reservations:

    1) Keeping Perivar ordinary in some way shape or form

    2) There is not much purpose to possessing one.  It not like Perivar will go walking around "Hey you, look at my cool Power Wrought Sword.  It is virtually indestructible and it never loses its edge.  Would you like to hold it?"  :D

  9. *shrug* They don't seem all that valuable to me though- since you don't RP taking care of your sword anyway.

Actually I have done that a few times.  So instead you would go from mentioning how you care for your weapon to mentioning how you don't have to care for it.  I guess we all agree that there is little point to having one.

  10. Perivar followed the Accepted through the quarters of the Green Ajah.  It was early morning yet the Tower was already full of life.  He carried the box gingerly though his face had a look of disinterest, just a Guardsman going about his duties and one that he wasn't particularly thrilled with.  That look was completely fake of course, on the inside he felt like a little boy when he was trying to get one over on his parents.  Luckily the Accepted took little interest in him though he thought his face would not betray his true feelings.  Tower Guards were allowed in the Tower on official business though he needed an escort since he had no idea how to find her room.  He did not think knocking on every door until he found her was the way to go.

Perivar stood there patiently as the Accepted knocked almost gingerly on the door.  Perivar had to bite back a smile, I would be nervous of her as well if I didn't know her better he thought.  Kabria had a sharp tongue and a quick temper when she was displeased.  He tried his best to remain on her good side as often as possible.

The door opened and there she stood.  The love of his life, her beauty made everything around her seem dull by comparison yet her mere presence was uplifting at the same time.  Perivar bowed as was customary from a Tower Guard to an Aes Sedai though he kept his eyes on her.  Kabria hid the look of shock just before the Accepted rose from her curtsy.  “Kabria Sedai I was instructed to show this Guardsman to your Quarters.”  The Accepted spoke with a shaky voice.  The girl stood there until Kabria dismissed her.

Knowing the Accepted was still within range to hear him he spoke formally as if he had never met Kabria before.  “Guardsman Perivar Tarigan at your service Aes Sedai, an honor to serve.  I was instructed to bring this to you.”  He said handing her a garment box with the sigil of a local seamstress.   He smiled as she opened the box to reveal an elegant green hooded cloak.  On the cloak were roses embroidered in a paler green color so that they stood out just enough to be seen by the naked eye at a few paces.

Light he was a fool but he was a fool who was in love.  If anyone caught on to his little stunt, no he pushed the thought away, all bases had been covered, he was just a Guardsman doing his duty.  He was standing face to face with her and that was all the mattered now, he let her flowery scent fill him.  His eyes drank her in, she was beautiful in many ways.  Perivar had no idea who could hear his words so he kept up the ruse.  “The Seamstress, Mistress Fallon I believe, she asked that you come for a fitting this afternoon for the dresses that you ordered.  If not this afternoon then the next until you are able to make it.  I was told to inform her of your availability for this afternoon.  If you are able to make it today then I will have your horse saddled and meet you at the front steps.  I am to be your escort for the day if you decide to go. “

He couldn't help but smile at her.  If any others happened by and saw his smile they would just think he was being polite.  “If it pleases you then I will have your horse saddled and waiting for you an hour past midday.”  He stood there as rigid as a pole, a Tower Guard doing his duty, waiting on a response from an Aes Sedai.  "If you cannot make it then I will let her know but she said the sooner you can get there for the fitting the sooner she can make the dresses for you."

Their duty and training had put a wedge between them.  The wedge would remain until they were able to be bonded.  Until that time all he could do was make the best of it and chip away at the wedge piece by piece.  He would take anytime alone with her that he could get.  He was grinning at her thinking on what he had planned for them.  The grin started to slip as the silence screamed in his ears.  He could hear his heart pounding now.  Would she think he crossed the line?  She had promised to make more time for them but... the thought died as she finally spoke.

  11. "Well with what we have discovered today I guess you could call it normal though on another day I would say that it is odd.  I've killed six but how many have I not seen altogether."   He didn't want to think on the number that he missed altogether.

"I think we are definately getting closer to our quarry.  Just before you hailed us I caught sight of a dust trail on the horizon so we are gaining on them."  He thought for a moment as he scanned the area again.

"I have this feeling that those Ravens are not looking for us at all.  We are only four and they have no reason to have an interest in us though it is better to be safe than sorry.  They may stop and study us making sure that we are not who they seek but I don't think we are who they are after.  I would guess that their target is the same as ours.  They were probably sent out to find those who we look for and report back to whoever sent them.  That is only a guess though.  I wish I knew for certain but I don't." He gave her an apologetic look not sure if he answered her questions.

  12. Perivar looked up with the feeling of being watched, the itch between his shoulders blades, the one just out of reach.  She had gone from happy and excited to, uncomfortable he thought.  Perhaps she already realized the fate of the townsfolk they were leaving behind.  They were far from defenseless though one thing suddenly struck him as odd.  He had not seen nor heard mention of any Shienaren Lancers.  Certainly there should have been a detachment here but he had heard no mention of them.  Were they pursuing whoever had attacked the city or did they simply not have any here.

He held Blade's reins and gave Kabria a foothold so that she could pull herself into the saddle.  Light she even made that look graceful.  She was oddly quiet as if pondering something of dire consequence.  Well he was not about to interrupt her thoughts.  If she wished to talk she knew that he would always listen.

Perivar half vaulted into his saddle then strung his horsebow before following Master Kynwric out of the town.  Discarded clothing, bones, and other debris left a trail blind man could have followed.  He and Master Kynwric took turns scouting ahead.  Perivar had shot down no less than five Ravens, the Dark One's eyes they were said to be.  No Borderlander would leave one alive if he could help it.  Perivar was removing an arrow from the corpse of a Raven when he heard Kabria hail them.  He thought of leaving the arrow in the Raven fearing that it would be tainted but he could not afford to carelessly throw any away.  Pulling the arrow free he raced toward Kabria while scanning the area to make sure there were no threats from their surroundings.

He was relieved to see that she was pointing to the ground at some tracks she had found.  Master Kynwric was there first, Perivar glanced at the tracks then turned as he caught sight of another Raven.  It landed on a branch thirty paces from them.  He quickly formed the void, became one with the bow, one with the arrow.  Within the span of a heartbeat the arrow was on its way.  A soft thud sounded one the edge of the void as feathers flew from the bird.  It toppled limply from the branch to falling to the hard packed ground below.  "Light! That is the sixth one since we left the town."

  13. Perivar hurried after her, as always he would escort her to the steps of the Tower.  He would watch until she entered the Tower then stand there for a while daydreaming about her.  As he caught up to her he spoke "I understand my love, but I wish it wasn't so."  He smiled at her reinforcing his words.  "I just wish it was different for us but I know one day we will be together.  I know it is out of our control at the moment but I long for you when you are away.  You fill my every waking thought when I am not having the daylights beaten out of me in training.  Pray that it is not too long though or else you may just find me at your door one day."

  14. Perivar smiled at her, he couldn't help it.  "You have a natural agility about you.  You also said that you were good with hand to hand fighting so that will help you.  It is much the same just that the weapons are different.  All weapons are merely an extension of your body.  You must become one with the weapon.  It is good to understand the theory, now you have to practice it so it becomes second nature."

“Does that not always put me at a disadvantage? My arms being weaker than many I will face?”  "Not at all my love.  If you are quicker and know where to strike or thrust then you have the advantage.  The size of your opponent matters little.  That is why you must practice as often as you can.  Once you get your stamina and endurance up we will start on some basic forms.  You will see, it will all come together once you learn and understand the forms.  Once you do I am not so sure that I would like to face you."  He smiled at her lovingly then arched an eyebrow.  Light she was beautiful.

He laughed to himself as if he had just heard a joke that was only meant for his ears.  When she eyed him he confessed his thoughts.  "I am inside the Tower on occasion you know.  Guarding the entry hall or making a delivery.  I have often thought of visiting your quarters if only I knew which one was yours."  He tapped his lip thoughtfully  "I have an idea just how to do it but if you were to tell me where to look perhaps..."  He eyed her mischievously waiting on her response.
