  1. Nesyer studied the threads that Rasheta Sedai had woven.  They all seemed to be the same to her.  But when she looked closely, she saw that each thread was tinged.  Each thread was also giving off an emanation, which might be describing its personality.  Her attention was drawn first to the green thread.  This thread gave off a feeling which reminded her of the rivers flowing, it seemed to hold power that would and could wash away anything that stood in its path.  "The green thread is Water."  she said, looking up at Rasheta Sedai, who nodded.

Turning her attention to threads of other colours, she spotted one which was tinged red.  She studied it as hard as she could.  This thread seemed to be giving off heat.  All the time.  Unleashed, it could burn everything it touched.  Given power, it would.  But she was attracted to it somehow.  She knew that she herself would be able to control this particular thread.  However she knew, she did not know.  It was just a bone deep certainty that she could.  "The red thread is Fire."

Rasheta Sedai nodded appraisingly.  "Very good!"

Concentrating her attention onto another weave with a different feel, she saw that this one was a pale brown.  It gave her a passive impression, whereby she felt that it would not move no matter how hard she pressed.  Like stone.  "This one's Earth."  she said.  Rasheta Sedai nodded, smiling.

There were only two elements, and thus only two more types of threads to sort out.  The one her eyes fell on first was pure white, with no tinge of colour at all.  At first thought it seemed to be Air.  However, she felt no emanations.  It just sat there serene.  This did not corraborate to what she had deduced so far.  "This thread is all calm and still.  It is Spirit?"  she said, half questioningly.  Rasheta Sedai nodded, grinning openly.  "Why yes it is.  You're doing very well so far.  I think you can guess what the last one is."

"Air."  Nesyer said without thinking.  Looking at the last type of thread, she saw that it was a light blue, like that of the sky.  It felt loose, floaty.  But it also gave her the sensation that it was powerful in its own way.  She closed her eyes, and she almost felt the winds stirring in the room.

"Excellent.  Now that you know the elements and the colours of the thread that represent them, I am going to ask you to point out the elements in each different weave."

And the weave before Nesyer's eyes disappated.  And was replaced by a new one.  It contained large amounts of green, some blue, and white.  But there was little of brown and red.  "There is Water, Air, Spirit, and some traces of Earth and Fire here and there."  she said, pointing to the respective threads.

And they did this over and over again.  But there was one thing that Nesyer noticed, that Rasheta Sedai seemed to like weaving Water more than Air, and Air more than the rest.  The difference was slight, but it was there.  Nesyer frowned.  Rasheta must be strong in Air, she thought to herself.

  2. Wilemi entered the class and caught sight of Esther shaking with laughter.  Raising an eyebrow with a smile of her own, she sat down where Esther gestured.  Esther did not look at her in the eye, probably slightly embarrased by this show.  Accepted were supposed to try and show dignity like Aes Sedai.  Pretending that she had not seen anything, she sat down and waited for Esther to teach her how to channel.  When Esther managed to regain back her composure, she spoke.

“Right. Yes. Well, today you are going to start learning weaves. We’ll start off with Air and Water.  You are to be careful since you have not had any real experience at weaving.  Please watch carefully and go slowly so that you can get the hang of it. And before we start with the weaves I want you to promise me never to pick your weaves apart, but to let them dissipate on their own. Picking apart a weave is very dangerous and it can cause severe explosions or even getting burned out.  Just trust me."  she added, as she read Wilemi's disgruntled and slightly disbelieving expression.

Esther turned and dipped a hankerchief into a bowl full of water, and took it out soaking wet.  Tendrils of Water extended from Esther's hand, forming together to become a pure weave of water.  It settled on the cloth, and moved downwards.  As it did, water oozed out of the cloth and dripped back into the bowl of water.  “Now you saw that I used a pure weave of Water to drain this right?” Wilemi nodded. “You can use Water to not only dry something, but also to gather water to you.”

Wilemi saw Esther change the weave subtly.  Now the tendrils of Water were converging at one end, and the other ends were spread out around, as if like a fan.  Then, she saw Water emerging from the points where they converge.  At the same time she felt her lip tighten as moisture was sucked out of the air.

    Interesting.

"Did you see how I did that?"  Esther inquired.  Wilemi nodded eagerly.  “Next, we're going to move on to Air. Would you please stand up?”  Wilemi obliged, pushing back her chair to stand in front of Esther. Still embracing Saidar, Esther snared Wilemi in flows of Air, which snaked out and wrapped around the her torso. Gently and slowly, Esther lifted her up off the floor.  “Don’t worry – I won’t drop you,” Esther assured her with a comforting smile. “This can actually be fun – just imagine you are flying like a bird.” Esther gave her a grin and swooped her slowly around the class. “I’ve always thought it a pity we can't do this to ourselves …”

Wilemi felt frightened and nervous as Esther lifted her up.  But in spite of herself, she was interested about the dynamics of this.  But questions later.  This was almost flying, except for the support of the bonds of Air.

"Anyway, Air can be pretty handy when you are trying to protect yourself." Esther lowered Wilemi gently into her chair. She loosened the threads only to quickly wrap her up in another weave of Air. Wilemi struggled against the bonds but was totally immobile. "As you can see, or feel….you cannot move at all.  Not only can Air be used to protect but it can be used to attack or damage as well," she added.  She tossed a rawhide ball into the air and then with a blunt flow of Air she smashed it and sent it flying across the room, just as Wilemi was released.

"Air and Water are the two elements that are also used in weather control. Should you develop the Talent of Cloud Dancing, those would most likely be your strongest elements. Regardless, you will learn some small amount of weather control, at a later time when you are capable of it. These are the two elements that women are usually more proficient in than men.  Strength in Spirit is shared equally among the genders."

"Now, this is your time to practice these weaves while I can watch you.  You can use the handkerchief and bowl for it, but try with this feather for the weaves I showed you using Air. You won’t be able to lift anything much heavier than that for a while yet."

Wilemi narrowed her eyes, and tried weaving Water first in the method that Esther showed her.  It was uncannily difficult to do so.  Oh, the weaving was all right, she managed to weave the weave without much difficulty, but it was horribly difficult to summon enough Power to dry the cloth efficiently.  She glared at the paltry weave, so pale white you could almost lose the green in it.  Sweat poured down her face as she forced more Power.  Sweetness was growing in her, building to pain, as drop by drop water trickled down from the cloth into the bowl.

Gasping, she let go of the weave when the cloth was nearly all dry.  Then, concentrating, and biting her tongue, she tried weaving the other Water weave.  It was as difficult as she had come to expect.  That she was horribly weak in Water spoke little for her success in other areas, for Water was the feminine element.  Drop by small drop water filled the bowl.  Wilemi maintained the weave, though it took most of the Power that she could presently hold.

Letting go, she tried the weaves of Air.  To her surprise, Air came very very easily.  She concentrated, and wrapped flows of Air around the feather, and lifted it up.  It floated up quite easily.  Esther smiled a beautiful smile at Wilemi, who blushed with pleasure, feeling quite pleased with herself.  Wilemi then proceeded to try and lift up one of the heavier objects, like the rawnball from previous.  The rawnball was more difficult.  Much more so, but she managed to lift it off the floor an inch or so.

She tried everything until she was ready to drop due to exhaustion.  Esther stopped her then.

“One more thing before you go.  Remember I told you that every female channeller can see when a woman is using the Source, because a glow springs up all around them the second they hold it? I want you to try to see this glow, I will walk around the room holding Saidar. You are allowed to embrace the Source, as it makes it easier to see the glow in the beginning, but try to see it also when you are not holding Saidar.”

Esther walked round the room, and Wilemi followed her footsteps, looking at her body with narrowed eyes.  Suddenly, a light seemed to spring into being around Esther.  Wilemi smiled beautifically and triumply, and Esther, grinning, rushed over and started praising her.  Tears overflowed in Wilemi's eyes.  She had finally managed to please her teacher.

  3. Seyneru's slight smile faded and fell off as Myrrh opened the door and stared hard at him, unsmiling.  Arching his eyebrow, Myrrh spoke in a loud voice, commanding.  It seemed that he had a bad temper.  Trying to control his own, Seyneru listened as was polite.  He was a Soldier, Myrrh a Dedicated, and respect was required of Seyneru.  So he swallowed his temper, and listened.

"Well well, it appears that you are the lucky boy who gets to be my first student. We're going to the training grounds, but you're going the long way around the dining hall. Exercise and all that. Get to it and I'll meet you there. Now!" Myrrh barked.

Seyneru bowed deep, and said, in a respectful tone.  "As you say, Myrrh Dedicated."  Running off, he started down the street towards the dining hall.  He also took the opportunity to explore the place.  There were areas that he had never even had the time to see, let alone explore.  But he could not explore for too long.  Myrrh was waiting.

Jogging, he ran around the dining hall, taking note of the faces he saw.  He recognized some familiar faces, but almost instantly they disappeared in the throng.  Interestingly, there seemed to be an uncanny amount of women and girls in the place.  It seemed that if Estean did not attract attention to herself by channeling, or mentioning anything incriminating, she would not stand out from the crowd.

Running off from the dining hall, he reached the training yard, where he noted slightfully resentfully that Myrrh was still as clean and fresh as they came.  A stark contrast to the sweat stained black coat that he was now wearing.  And with the perpetual summer as it was, it would be horribly stifling and uncomfortable.

  4. "Enough child, at least for the moment. Stay where you are and you will be pampered for this one time."  said Rasheta Sedai after a while.  Rasheta stood up and went to the door.  Muffled orders drifted into the room, and Nesyer was sure that Rasheta had sent a Novice to get something.  What is Rasheta going to do now?  She wondered.  And then she had no time to wonder as Rasheta came back and sat in front of her, studying her, as if weighing her.

"So child tell me how are you liking the White Tower? Do you have any questions?"  Then, Rasheta added "do not worry after you have rested for awhile I will continue the lessons. Till then allow yourself to rest and answer my questions."

Nesyer opened her mouth, about to answer, when there was a knock on the door, and a servant stood in the doorway.  Giving Nesyer a hard look, she set the tray down,  curtsied to Rasheta and left the room.  Rasheta poured some tea for Nesyer, but none for herself.  That was decidedly odd.  But never mind that now.  She had to answer the question.

"Well," she said, slightly hesitantly.  "I have noticed that ... umm, life in the White Tower is hard.  But I suppose it is part of the life on the journey to becoming a sister.  However, I do have a question, regarding the Ajahs."

"I was a Healer back in Caemlyn, before I came to the White Tower.  However, here in the White Tower, I am in a dilemma as to whether to choose the Green Ajah or the Yellow Ajah.  I like healing, but I also seek to fight the shadow in whatever way I choose.  Are there any Green Sisters with considerable talent for Healing, good enough to become Yellow Sisters?  Also I would like to know whether being good at Healing with the One Power is a neccessity in becoming a Yellow Sister."

  5. “Good, Nenen, good, now close your eyes and we will begin again.  Calm now.”  said Eqwina Sedai.  Nenen nearly raised her eyebrows in shock.  Then remembering where she was and who she was about to raise her eyebrows at, managed to control herself.  But she was not sure that her eyebrows didn't twitch at all.  Eqwina Sedai tilted her head, as though whether to consider sending her off to bed without bread or water.

Nenen then calmed herself down and imagined herself being the rose again.  However, Saidar did not come when called again.  Struggling, she tried to reach out to the glow, but it was as if when she was about to reach it, there was nothing there.  She tried again, and again, and again.  But to no avail.  Then, sighing, she surrendered to fate and...

The One Power flowed back into her.  “Good!”  Eqwina Sedai said, “bask in the rays of the sun, do not strain or pull, just feel the sun beating down on you.”

More like the sun shining down, and giving life.  Thought Nenen.  But she continued, and this time, the connection held.  It wavered slightly, but still held to her.

“Imagine a single cloud and see it drift across the sky, see it as it slowly starts to block the sun. Now push the cloud away from your sun, slowly, slowly…not too fast, the snapping back can hurt.”

Nenen imagined a cloud blocking the rays of the sun, and tried shoving it between the sun and her.  But the rays of the sun were to great, the flow of the Power too strong for her to cut off properly.  She imagined the cloud across the sun.  Then, the One Power in her flickered as the cloud was suddenly blocking the sun, yet not.  Then, the cloud firmed, and the One Power winked out her her so suddenly that her head felt as though someone had just hit her on the head with a club.

Suddenly, there were hands on her temples, and a faint chill rushed down her body, coupled with shudders of shock.  This, Nenen realized, slightly tiredly, must be what it would be like when being Healed.

Then, they tried again and again.  Nenen tried again and again to push the source from her, making it dwindle gradually and slowly.  It was difficult, but she managed to get the hang of it after a few tries.  Then, when Nenen had got it completely, Eqwina Sedai halted the session, and stared right into her face.

“Do you understand how important what I’ve just shown you is? You will always be tempted to hold onto the Source, just to touch it, to feel the sweetness of life. It is a powerful and often painful addiction, and if you have to fight that addiction you cannot surrender to the Power. Struggles such as this can kill you, or worse burn the ability to channel out of you.”

Nenen nodded, unsure of what else to do, and what they were going to do next.

  6. Ok.  I have modified already as per request.  However, ignore the Cloud Dancing Weaves because I have not modified them yet.  I will be posting up more in the near future.

  7. Seyneru bade good day to her grandmother Estean and walked out of the house, his face composed.  He was wearing the black coat that he had been given the first day here.  Needless to say, the size of his coat was rather big, due to his height, a trait that he had inherited from Estean.  The coat swirled as he strolled, taking in the sights and scenes.  The previous two weeks or so, when he had arrived, he had already caught on on how to embrace the source very quickly.  Apparently it was uncommon, but not unheard of for one to progress so fast in strength.

Today, Seyneru was to be taught by someone that he had no inkling of.  His name was Mercury al'Thorin, but people most commonly refered to him as 'Myrrh'.  Having no notion of what the future held, Seyneru could only hope for the best and that Myrrh was a patient person, unlike some of his previous teachers.

Walking, Seyneru though about of the events of the past few weeks.  Estean was settling in nicely, though she was still a bit uncomfortable around men who could channel, and in her opinion, switch from sane to mad in an instant.  But Estean had been reassured by some Healers among the Asha'man that the madness rarely came on that way, but in progression.  And that usually long before the they went truly mad, they were given something in their wine that would put them into a wakeless sleep.  Seyneru shuddered.  He knew his fate.  But he would accept it for the greater good of mankind, to prevent the Dark One from blighting the world.

Reaching his destination, Seyneru raised his hand, and knocked on the door.

  8. Nenen Kailadel jumped backwards as Eqwina Sedai's eyes burned with intensity, scrutinizing her face as if doubtful if she could comply and was trying to find every reason not to let her start.  Finally, she folded her arms and nodded.  Nenen just managed to not let out a sigh of relief as Eqwina spoke.  “Fine, I am convinced that you will accept my rules, but bear in mind the punishment if you disobey. Take a seat.”

Nenen nodded and curtsied, then sat down quickly and folded her arms, trying to assume what she hoped was a composed expression.  "Since you are ready to surrender we can begin. Close your eyes child, and clear your mind of all thoughts. Take a deep breath in…and let it out. Again, deep breath in and out. Feel your muscles relax from the top of your head down to your toes. Now….Focus on a rose bud, a deep crimson rose bud. See its every petal, feel the softness of it and the slight damp feeling of the morning dew."

Nenen closed her eyes and did as she was bid, trying hard to imagine herself as a rosebud.  Red as blood, and as lush and beautiful as was required for a garden.  She imagined herself bending to the will, flexible yet resilant.

“Just out of sight is the sun, warm and bright. Feel the warmth of the sun beating down on your singular rose. Slowly see the petals start to open, reaching to catch the sun’s rays. Ever so slowly it extends outward, flowering to its fullest.”

Nenen's eyes opened, but the petal was still in front of her eyes.  She imagined the sun's rays shining above her.  But somehow, the sun's rays did not seem to be touching her.  They seemed to compose of everything except of her.  She heard an answering call within her, and tried to stretch out to it.  She was not concious that sweat was trickling down her face as she tried again and again to reach it, to touch it, to hold it.

In the end, she begin to surrender to fate...

And suddenly, the sunlight was filling her to the brim.  She opened her eyes, and felt the wonder of it as the Power filled her.  No wonder Wilemi had said that it was addictive.  No wonder Nesyer had mentioned that it was very hard to let go of the source once it was touched.  It was pure estacy.

The connection then wavered and broke, and she was once again sitting in the real world, which seemed much duller now in comparison to previously.

  9. (OOC: Jagen gave me permission to join.  *Grins*)

Nenen made her way up slowly to the Mistress of Novices' office.  Wilemi had already ran all the way up the stairs, and was probably going through a harrowing lesson with Larindha Sedai.  Turning the corner, her her a door being flung open, and guessed that it was Wilemi, who had just reached the MoN's office.  She recounted in her memory how she had been unjustly accused of eavesdropping.  Of course Wilemi would accept the punishment.  Nenen herself had needed to stiffen her backbone from time to time, or she would have been pushed around to oblivion a long time past.

Walking down the corridor as serenly as she could without seen to be lagging to passing Aes Sedai, she saw the door open fully, and Wilemi came out, looking chastised and fretful.  She saw Nenen, gave a watery smile, and ran off to do whatever punishment she had entailed.

Turning around the corner, she froze as she saw Jagen Sedai in the room, Aeryn was there as well.  Judging from the look that Jagen was giving Aeryn, and remembering the lecture that Aeryn had dealt out to all three sisters, she guessed that Jagen was here to deal out some additional punishment.  And I thought my situation couldn't sink any lower.  She grumbled inwardly.  Steeling herself, she entered the room and curtsied.

And stood by the corner, hoping that Jagen Sedai would forget that she had ever been in the gardens, or her punishment might be much worse that she would have gotten.

  10. Wilemi gaped and nearly dropped her tray as Estel Sedai accused her of eavesdropping.  Me?  Eavesdropping?  She thought indignantly.  I had a task here.  I did not eavesdrop on purpose?!  The tray she was holding shook as she handed it to Elyssa.  As Jagen Sedai left, she realized that Nenen was still holding a tray.  Turning to face her, she saw Nenen glaring angrily at Estel Sedai, and was about to give her a lecture.

Remembering what Aeryn had did just now, and the results of it, she nudged Nenen's arm quietly.  Nenen turned, and her stony gaze bored through Wilemi, then mellowed into a stern, but accepting gaze.  Turning back to Estel Sedai, her gaze was stone.  Then, she dropped the tray right at Estel's feet.  Porcelain shattered and tea spilled on Estel, as Nenen pulled Wilemi and rushed off towards the Mistress of Novices.

When they were out of earshot, Wilemi pulled Nenen to one side, into a side passage of the corridors of the White Tower.  "Are you MAD?"  she hissed angrily.  "You should not have done that.  No matter how unjust or unfair it is.  That is not the way to treat Aes Sedai."  Moving forward, she and Nenen then made their way up the Tower to the Mistress of Novices room.  Knocking on the door, they heard a stern, "come in!"

Wilemi sighed, and entered, Nenen following to whatever end awaited them.

    Shocked

  12. Wilemi knocked on the door hesitantly, afraid of what she would find.  She hoped that Esther had moved on from that disastrous incident yesterday, whereby she had accidentally set Esther's dress alight with what she had deduced was a weave of Fire.  After checking up on a book of the Five Powers from the library, she had wondered why she had woven Fire, particularly as female channelers were weak in Fire.  Going through the records of strength listings of the Five Powers, she had noticed that there were several Aes Sedai, and that included several still living, that some had talents in one or both of the Male Powers, Earth and Fire.

It would have been interesting if it hadn't been for that incident.  To her relief, nothing untoward happened this time.

Esther opened the door, and Wilemi shuffled guiltily from foot to foot.  Esther beckoned her in and motioned her to sit on one of the stools in the class, with a pat on the back.  With that, Wilemi was slightly more reassured that all had been forgiven from yesterday.  Esther also told her that every time she did well, she would get a treat, namely the honey cakes that she put in a plate in the room.  Wilemi's nose twitched as she relaxed and breathed in the scent of honey.  Sweet and comforting.  It made the room ... homey, somehow.

Sitting on the stool, Wilemi looked at Esther, who started the lecture.

"Today’s lesson is about control.  Not only of yourself, but also of the One Power. For an Aes Sedai, control will be an integral part of everything you do.  As the Source will be a big part of your life as well, it is essential that you learn control of it.  The most widely used technique for controlling the Source is called Pushing and Pulling. The objective is to embrace and hold the Source, but hold it as far away from you as you can without releasing it. This discipline will help you to back off from the Source before you reach a level you cannot control. This will also help you when it comes time to learn linking in your later studies."

Linking?  That was something new.  She would go to the library and learn about it later.  And come to Esther if she had any questions about linking.  Then, when she heard the other earlier bit, she blushed, remembering that fiasco.

"I want you to close your eyes and relax, then picture yourself as the flower bud again. Once the light of the sun has hit it and it has opened, just hold yourself there."

With some trepidation, Wilemi embraced the source.  It came towards her instantly, filling her with europhia.

"Now imagine the sun’s rays being filtered by a cloud passing in front of it. As the light from the sun is diminished on the flower, so should your hold on the Source. Push it away from you, while still maintaining contact. The sun still provides heat behind the cloud, just as the Source can still flow into you at a smaller rate. To pull it back into you fully again, imagine the cloud drifting away from the sun, and the full light and heat back on the flower. Take care not to make the cloud move too quickly, as snapping it back can hurt."

Visuallizing a cloud blocking off the radiance of the One Power, she found that she could not do any more than a thin sheer against that flow.  The difference was as there was none.  The One Power flowed still strongly through her.  Focusing all her effort on it, she imagined the cloud being thicker, and encountered some internal resistance.  Do I really want to do this?  She wondered.  Yes!  I must!  Look what happened yesterday.  I must try!  And suddenly, the cloud grew thicker and thicker until it almost cut her off.  Only self control prevented her from making it totally opaque.

“Well done!” Reaching behind her, Esther took one of the honey cakes and handed it to Wilemi with a small grin. “Rest a moment while you eat that.”  Relieved, Wilemi took the cake and ate it with relish.  Working with the Power made her hungry.  She listened to Esther as food flowed down her throat.

“That was very hard to do, wasn’t it? I could see how you were struggling.”

Wilemi gave her a very surprised look.  How had she known?

“Oh yes - female channelers know when you are holding the Source.  It appears to us as a glow around you, like a nimbus.  As you become more practiced at channelling, you will also begin to see the glow around others.  My point is this: you will always be tempted to hold the Source simply to feel the joy of it, but that is being weak of mind.  It is an addiction, and if you cannot struggle against it then will not learn how to control it. In the end you will most likely burn yourself out or die.”

Wilemi's head came up with interest as she heard Esther speak.  But at the last line, her face paled with the meaning of her words.  She had heard it before, and would hear it again.  But no matter how many times she seemed to hear it, it seemed to hold a foreboding warning of the price to pay for learning to channel.

They then continued to try and control the amount of Saidar that was flowing through her.  Wilemi's self control improved with each try, and soon, with some effort, she could push away the source to a mere trickle.

“In order to weave you must know what the elements are. The five elements are Air, Water, Fire, Earth, and Spirit. I’m going to show you which threads are which.” Esther embraced the Source and wove strands of all five elements together into a thick rope.  The threads wrapped tightly around each other in a spiral pattern; each thread stood out clearly. “You can see that each one is a different colour, and you’ll soon learn that the feel different too. Air is Blue, Water is Green, Spirit is White, Fire is Red and Earth is Brown.” She shifted her chair and told Wilemi to move over until they were sitting side by side. “Now I want you to point out each element for me in that rope to me.”

By now, Wilemi could see clearly the weaving that Esther wove with envying ease.  She then concentrated on the mess in front of her.  It all seemed the same to her at first, then she realized that each thread was becoming more distinct in colour.  There was a Blue thread, a Green thread, a White thread, a Red thread and a Brown thread.  Wilemi poked each thread tentatively with the power in her.

The channeler weaves spider-web like flows of Water in all directions, gathering moisture within range of the weave.  It coalaces at the spot where the multiple flows converge.  An increase in the size of the flows would increase the area that moisture is gathered rom.  Increase in strength in Water would increase the amount of water gathered per unit area.  And an increase in skill would increase the speed at which water is gather

    Currents (Creation) 0 0 0 0 4 15

The channeler weaves intricate flows of Water just so into a body of water.  Water in the body swirls and starts to move according to the pattern of the weaving.  An increase in the size of flows would increase the current area.  An increase in strength would heighten the speed of the current, and increase in skill would decrease the time taken for the current to form.

    Currents (Destruction) 0 0 0 0 6 18

The channeler weaves a weaving extending across a body of water.  The water stops moving

    Dry Object 0 0 0 0 3 8

The channeler weaves delicate flows of Water on a target that is wet, causing the water on it to roll off.  An increase in flow size would increase the area affect.  An increase in strength would increase the amount of water that is dried up.  And an increase in skill would increase the speed of drying

    Dehydration 0 0 0 0 5 14

The channeler weaves flows of Water into the target, causing all the moisture that is in it to leave the target.  Parameters are the same as 'Dry Object'.

  14. Wilemi curtsied as another Aes Sedai whom she recognized, Estel Lioness, entered the garden and approached them.  She managed to keep the tray balanced on one hand, though it was something of a difficulty.  Beside her, Nenen curtsied as well, but splashed some of the tea over the tray onto the floor.  The teapot was halfway off the tray before Wilemi brought her own tray underneath and caught it before it slipped to the ground and broke.

“Secreting her away for another of your famous apologies, Jagen?  Are you so desperate for friends that’s you’ve picked up stalking Blues again?  You Reds have no shame.”

Wilemi's eyes widened in shock and her hands trembled slightly as she heard the scathing words that Estel Sedai was saying.  Estel was famed for her temper and violatile emotions.  But this?  Insulting another Aes Sedai in front of Novices?  That was practically unheard of.

“Tears, Elyssa?  Here I thought I was the only Blue given to bawling in public.  Only a month away and the Ajah needed a new puppy to kick?  Where’s the loyalty gone?”

By the time Estel had finished, Wilemi's eyes were so wide that they resembled teacups.  Nenen's face was much more composed, but she smoothed her skirts as though wishing that she were elsewhere.  Wilemi's tray rattled and the teapot and cup threatened to bounce right off the tray.  Grabbing herself mentally, Wilemi controlled her feelings, and her actions.

  15. "Well, lets get this over with shall we?  Were you tested before the Dedicated brought you to me?  If not, we'll do it now."  Seyneru shook his head emphatically.  "Very well."  said Arath, in a tone that hinted that he would rather be doing other things right then.  Only the self-control that Estean had drilled into Seyneru managed to keep his face blank.  Estean's face certainly tightened slightly, although she managed not to show too much emotion as was wise.

Arath motioned for Seyneru to take a seat in front of his desk.  Seyneru felt something change around Arath, and suddenly a small flame was dancing between them.  Seyneru felt the warmth of the flame envelope his head.  "I want you to focus on this flame, to the exclusion of everything else.  Stare straight into the heart of it, and we'll see if you can become one of us."  Seyneru was aware of Estean looking over, interested despite herself.

Seyneru stared into the flame.  He was the flame.  He became the flame.  He distanced himself from everything around him and simply stared into the flame.  The flame was all.  The flame was everything.  The world seemed to quiet and bend in, to listen, to see what would happen...

And suddenly, something changed within Seyneru, as though he had just flipped open a section of his mind.  He could feel something that was creating the flame.  He could feel it, every particle of the flame.  He waited for Arath to respond.

  16. (OOC: Er Rasheta this is a one-to-one lesson, not a class lesson.  You seem to think that Nesyer is several novices in you rping.)

Nesyer was gazing at Rasheta in panic as the wind was gathering strength enough to try to topple the table in front of her.  It would have had she not grabbed onto the table first and braced herself to prevent the wind from blowing her off her own chair.  She was concious of the One Power flowing through her.  But she did not know how to control it.  Then suddenly, something else happened in the room.  Something changed about Rasheta Sedai.  There was psychic snap with her relation to the True Source.

She gazed in panic at Rasheta, then realized that this was how she must feel if she were shielded.  She had read about such a thing.  She could still sense the True Source.  She could see the glow, feel its warmth.  But trying to touch it was like running into a glass wall that was a strong as brick.

“That is what happens when you have no control over the one power. It is a good thing I was here, if I had not been who knows what you could have done to yourself or others. Were you scared?”  Nesyer gulped, and tried not to show her fear.  Rasheta still must have seen it, because she shook her head, and after that, they spent some more time trying to embrace the source.  Nesyer managed to do it a few times more, but not always.

"I will now be teaching you the basics of controlling saidar. If you are not in control of saidar, you will die!  If you cannot control saidar to do what you want it to do, your weaves can snap at you or someone else with potentially fatal results. If you weave incorrectly, it may blow up in your face. If you draw on saidar too much, you may burn yourself out, which is worse than dying. You know that feeling of euphoria when you are holding the Source? When you're burned out, you can never touch it again, but you constantly have a reminder of it."

Nesyer shuddered at the thought.  Remembering what she had felt when she managed to embrace the source, the prospect of being cut off from it for the whole of eternity seemed well to be nigh terrible.

"So today we are going to practice two things. Pushing and pulling. First is pulling. I need all of you to embrace the Source."

Nesyer then tried to embrace the True Source.  She tried, again and again.  But had to try it several times before she felt the thrill of life fill her again.

"Good, now picture a cloud. A cute little white cloud drifting along in your sky. I want you to imagine your cloud drifting over the sun and hiding your light. Push away the warmth and joy it brings. Push so that you barely have any grasp at all."

That was rather easy.  Nesyer pictured the sun, and that she was the flower bud.  The One Power filled her until she felt that she must burst from its radiance.  Then she remembered what she had to do.  She pictured a cloud, a pale transparent version of it, and felt the amount of Saidar in her lessen slightly.  She tried to imagine it thicken, and felt resistance.  She probed and probed again, trying with all her might to thicken the cloud.  Finally, she felt something in her snap, and the cloud hang over the sun, blocking out almost all of its radiance.  The amount of Saidar in her lessened until she was barely aware that she was touching it at all.

She then realized that she had a mental block that prevented her from considerably lessening the flow of Saidar.  She never wanted to lose its feeling.  She lacked self-control that was essential to control it.

Annoyed, Nesyer tried again and again, and this time, bored down with all of her will at forming the cloud as smoothly as possible.  Saidar flowed into her, and this time, she could control the amount of Saidar that she was holding at will by varying the thickness and opacity of the cloud.

  17. Wilemi's eyes grew wide as she heard Elyssa's request.  Aes Sedai were usually much more composed.  And the wording was wrong.  Elyssa just told her why she wanted blueberry tea.  Aes Sedai never did that.  Throwing a quick glance at Nenen, she and Nenen both curtsied and ran off towards the kitchen to get blueberry tea.

At the kitchens, they waited and stewed as the Mistress of Kitchens looked at them with some suspicion and set about her with ladle and all, and got someone to create blueberry tea for her.  Nenen's eyes were crystal blue, ice cold impatience was radiating off her.  Wilemi knew her well enough to feel the impatience chill her skin.  She shifted her feet uncomfortably.

Nenen looked at her, and the ice cold impatience faded to nothing more than slight irritation that was not directed at her.  Wilemi was more reassured than anything else by this.  Two trays containing blueberry tea pots were shoved in their direction, and Wilemi took one while Nenen took the other.  Together they walked serenly up the staircases and corridors.  At occasion when nobody was around to see, they channeled Fire to make the tea hot.  Then immediately released Saidar.

Back in the gardens they walked, and they offered their trays to Jagen Sedai and the Blue sister.
