  1. I use AppleTV and yes the Prime UI sucks, not sure why they won't fix it. Their Marketing also sucks, they have lots of issues, but what they charge compared to others is not an issue for me. Also they have good shows, just no one can find them.

You are quite correct! I should maybe pay more attention to what people post and what I reply ... I'm a BAD Mother 🤪

    The Three Oaths

"Under the Light and by my hope of salvation and rebirth, I vow that I will speak no word that is not true."
"Under the Light and by my hope of salvation and rebirth, I vow that I will make no weapon for one man to kill another."
"Under the Light and by my hope of salvation and rebirth, I vow that I will never use the One Power as a weapon except against Shadowspawn, or in the last extreme of defending my life or that of my Warder or another sister."

I thought it was the following from the books, but I could be wrong:

    • Spoiler
      • • To speak no word that is not true
      • • To make no weapon with which one man may kill another
      • • Never to use the One Power as a weapon except against Darkfriends or Shadowspawn, or in the last extreme defense of her life, the life of her Warder, or another Aes Sedai

this argument just has no basis in fact whatsoever. In the books Egwene's plot actually takes up more time then Rands at various points, in season 1 Rafe didn't talk about Rand because he didn't want to spoil who the dragon was for non book viewers. In season 2 he is right, from book 2 Rand is not the main Protagonist, he is one in an ensemble piece and Robery Jordan spent a lot of time and gave a lot of page time to the E4 having focused on Rand when he thought there would only be 3 books to tell the story in.

Saying after 2 seasons of the characters all broadly following the same story themes they did in the books gives no indication that anyone wanted Egwene as the Dragon. I mean Brandon would have come out and made that statement and i have not seen that anywhere (correct me if I am wrong) and not based on opinion, but based on fact of Rafe saying to him I don't want rand ot be the Dragon reborn.

I also dont see anywhere a "fear" of gendered chanelling, it has been really clear to my non book reading friends so far that there are 2 halfs to the power,

I think you missed were I said "I have felt like", this was my opinion, did not say it was fact or should affect anyone else opinion. Guess I should just not make comments on how I see things.

If I have to judge based on the extras (x-ray), I would guess: No, he clearly doesen't like his character. He barely speak about Rand as a character. Only as the DR (plot device) for the others. In S2 he mentioned him clearly on Ep1S2 extra with: "We wanted to be clear about the fact that Rand is not the main protegonist"

    But...

I will give him the benefict of the doubt and maybe, his plan is to give him a proper arc from s3 and all these rants will be adressed

Watching the show I have felt like they really want Egwene to be the Dragon Reborn, guessing Harriet would not allow it. So instead they are giving Egwene an arch that makes her look like the Dragon Reborn version 1a.

Her looks aren't going to change in the show.  They dropped the agelessness so they could use the same actors throughout the series, and their Chang in looks was an effect of the agelessness.

In the books stilling was not agelessness, after stilling Siuan looked younger and different. In fact most did not realize it was her. They could switch actors in this case. I had heard that the actor playing Siuan did not want to be committed to show for the long haul.

whereas I think each of the characters think they know, but they all "know" different things. I suspect M knows she isn't stilled, Verin and Adeleas and possibly Lan may think she is, and Alanna knows nothing about it and thinks it was just released (which M mentioned to her in S1).

    I find it intriguing

I think this will be solve in episode 5, I watch the preview several times, I think the person riding the horse is Moraine?

Serious question, did Lanfear actually die?

Now I'm no marine biologist but would those wounds kill you straight away?

    Genually curious.

Yeah, it looks like she died but I wouldn't be surprised if she was playing possum to see what Rand does. For a hot second it sounded like he was going to avenge her.

    No she is not dead

I would have went with having 2 or 3 trained wolves or wolf hybrids and lots of theatre of the mind.  We need lots of good Hopper but other wolf interactions can be howls, growls, movement sounds of screen.  some distance cgi for battles.  glimpses that dont have to be fully fleshed out.  I think we already saw the wolf dogs didnt really work out as hoped in White Cloak attack so they had to do more theatre of mind than they wanted.  They have spent tons on intricatr sets to tear them down and costuming.  In the grand scheme of funding this show its priorities. I am assuming animal stunts is a drop in bucket compared to costuming and wigs.  I am joking here but not completely.

I agree totally, hopefully they will make changes when Hopper is introduced

  9. Well I finished 5-8, I didn't remember that even the first time through I like episode 5 and gave it a B+. I really like the White Cloak scene, I still think they can do better with the wolves. The Wolves look more like dogs to me, its fantasy give me bad ass wolves. I still think the whole Steven/funeral scene could have been  done in half the time. Episode 6 was better than I thought the first couple of times. Taking away the books really help make this episode better. Using the oath rod to force Moraine to take a 4th oath seem strange to me and seems to be against what was explained early in the show. Now episodes 7 & 8 is when things really started going done hill and maybe those two episodes clouded my judgement on the series.  I understand COVID and loosing Matt hurt, but does not explain what I see as just bad writing. Now with that said, I am looking forward now to season 2 and hope we can just put the last two episodes behind us.

  10. Well I finished episode 3 & 4 and like both a lot better then my first watch. In fact the only negative I had for episode 3 was with the look of the wolf scene and I need more Rand and Matt, just like their story in both episode (that ignoring the books). I really like the Logan scene and thought they have nailed that casting, he is another of my favorite characters from the book. Nynaeve healing scene was cool, but as a book reading I don't like how they are not following the book magic system a very well, but for this review I am ignore the book. So I give episode 3 a solid A and episode 4 a A-, so the first four episode is sitting at a B+/A-. I am going to have to really fight by book bias for the next 4, but let see maybe I will see them differently.

  11. Started my rewatch, finished the first 2 episode. I have read the books 4 times and this will be my 4 watch of the series. Decide I would treat this rewatch as a different story from the books to see if I liked it better or not. I did look at by previous ratings of the series and the first two episodes got a solid B/B+ from me. Somethings that I didn't notice from my previous watch. The pacing in episode 1 seem bad to me this time around, wondering if others thought that way. The pacing was a lot better in episode 2. I thought the pushing of Egwene of the cliff seem kind of cruel and wonder if any previous member ever die from that tradition? Also besides Rand, Tam and Perrin are all the other men in two rivers cowards. I see the women fighting trollocs , but most of the men seems to be just running away. The scene when Moiraine enters the tavern and Nynaeve reaches for her knife seems silly to me. Since no one else really did anything. Overall this time I thought episode 1 was a C+ at best. I didn't like Perrin killing his wife or Matts story line but that may be my book bias.

Episode 2 pacing was much better and in fact I really liked most of this episode. Now still have some book issues but ignoring those for now. I thought the wolf scene could have been done better, just think they went cheap. Some of the dialog was pretty poor, special the whole dream sequence. I really like the whole scene when Moiraine explains the song of  Manetheren, thought that was one of the best part of the episode. Overall I think this episode should have gotten an A- from me. So I guess B for both makes some sense.

  12. I have rewatch the show 3 times and each time I have like it a little more except for episode 8 which to me was just horrible. I plan on watching it again this week since it has been a while and I want to refresher before season 2. I have decided to just accept this is not going to be the books and hope I can just enjoy it. My biggest disappoint is that all the people that I ask to watch season 1 have told me they are not sure they are going to watch season 2. Maybe I just got their hopes up too much. I hope season 2 is better and I can convince them to try it again.

  13. I agree strongly with Samt. Making changes is fine, but many of the changes didn't seem necessary. I have just ignored episodes 7 & 8 since I believe that was caused by COVID and actor changes (Will say if it had been left to me, I would have just stop at episode 6). My biggest complain is the fact that we spent entire episode on a character that wasn't in the book, yet skimped on going into more details with the main characters. Also I think they just ignored all the magic rules completely.

  14. Can't speak for others, but I liked the first half of the season, it was the second half that I had major issue with. I just think things started getting worse as the season went on and the last episode  was just terrible. I know the covid excuse, but I would have been happier if they just had not had it at all. I still have a lot of hope it will get better, but the things I hear do not give me a lot of hope. I plan on sticking with it through season 3 because I just love the books
