Sorry for the double post. I've now watched the video.

Again, I'll comment in YouTube as well, but each point you make is substantive and I agree very much. I especially like what you said about tGH being a better book than EotW. I haven't reflected on this in awhile, but during the run up and early episodes of S1, I did speak to EotW being a more awkward and difficult book to adapt to television. And that had completely slipped my mind until now, but it is absolutely valid. It's certainly an opportunity for a more directed and purposeful TV plot.

I haven't watched your channel before, but I'll add that I appreciate this video being focused, substantive, and to the point. It was not long winded like some things I've seen.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I totally agree with your points too about production not being interrupted by unforeseen circumstance, and EotW being difficult to adapt. Overall, season 2 has a lot more going for it. Bring on September!

  2. When I released my non-book reader review of the trailer, I got a few comments from people who were so disappointed with the first season, they’ve completely written off season 2. Which I think, is a shame.

So I made a quick video to explain why I think season 2 will be better, and hopefully convince a few season 1 haters to give the show another chance.

I'd love to hear some of your reasons why season 2 will be an improvement in the comments!

  3. This may be a totally random observation, but whilst watching Disney's Mary Poppins film and I couldn't help but notice how similar Dik Van Dyke's opening monologue is to the the intro of every Wheel of Time book.

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

Born below the ever cloud-capped peaks that gave the mountains their name, the wind blew east, out across the Sand Hills, once the shore of a great ocean, before the Breaking of the World."

"Winds in the east, mist coming in. / Like somethin' is brewin' and 'bout to begin. / Can't put me finger on what lies in store, / But I feel what's to happen all happened before. "

Anybody else think there's some similarities here?

Naturally I had to turn it into a sketch...
  4. With the inevitable success of Amazon’s Wheel of Time TV series, next year I fully expect costume stores to be overflowing with Myrddraal masks, but this Halloween I attempted a little DIY. A mask would certainly be easier than a bald cap and safer than covering up your eyes with cotton pads, but hopefully it makes for an entertaining video if nothing else.
