Hello. I've been strictly working with acrylic on canvas for a couple of years.
I never considered myself an artist until I gave it a whirl, and now I'm hooked.

Welcome, Aisling.
It's just about winter up there in Michigan, isn't it?
(I'm kidding. I'm in Texas, and we had temperatures in the mid-90s yesterday.)

Sounds fun to me.
Ideas:
Which character appeared first in WoT.
Name that Ajah.
Name that Sept.
Match the Aes Sedai and Warder.

Thanks for your hard work, everyone.

I'm entering my first art show this weekend. It officially starts Friday evening but the online gallery is already available for viewing. Winners will be announced Saturday evening.
I've got three pieces entered, but I've checked out the competition and I'm fairly sure I know who's going to win my category Still, I enjoy painting, and I've met some interesting people through this art league.
I also managed to get website set up showing off my work, which is strange and exciting.

any of you interested in being a beta reader for a novel?
Sure.

Very nice, Ryrin. What size is that?

One year for an H party I crushed up chocolate cookies (like Oreos) into a fine powder and poured them in a fancy candy dish. Then I poked in gummy worms.
Looked pretty authentic to me.

I should be able to lend a hand, although the end of the week I'll be pretty busy with personal matters, so I can't overcommit.

Thank you both. I look at them and see nothing but flaws and mistakes. But that's just me. Despite the flaws, I'm glad I made them. I just finished my last piece intended for the art show, and I'll post it here soon.

Fantastic pics, Ryrin. My wife and I drove through that area (sheesh) twenty-five years ago, and they look familiar.
The Autumnal Equinox isn't for another two weeks, so it's still summer in my book. Although we've left the one-hundred-degree days behind, thank goodness.
Next month I'll be entering three of my paintings in a Fine Art show.

I'll take the vaccine, but I won't be among the first.
(I've seen that movie.)

When I look at it I feel like it wants to fold open in the middle, like those old paper fortune-tellers we used to make in elementary school.
Ah yes, I recall those. I haven't thought about those in decades.

My latest painting:
"Infinite Corners" Acrylic on Canvas. 20" x 20"
Lousy photo, though. I've got to get better. I'm becoming more serious about selling my work.

I'll say Water, because every substance in the universe becomes more dense when frozen, except water, which becomes less dense. That's why ice floats.
If you heated lead until it was molten, then tossed in a block of lead, it would sink until it melted. Same with everything else we know of, including compounds that contain hydrogen, oxygen, and both.
There's no explanation why water behaves this way, but it's fortunate that such is the case. If water behaved like normal, then a frozen pond would freeze from the bottom up, eventually pushing the fish up and out until they asphyxiated in the air. Life would have had a much more difficult time evolving otherwise.

Very nice, Ryrin. I'm sure they'll appreciate the personal touch.

I guess I'll be the oddball and declare that I prefer small closets. They force me to be ruthless in getting rid of clutter.
