  2. Uber is a nice source of extra income, but there's no way I could do it full-time. I like that I get to set my own schedule most of all--I've had two jobs for twenty years, and juggling two work schedules is tough.

It beats spending evenings watching TV.

  3. Weekends are for household chores (ug), reading (mmmm), making some extra money as an Uber driver (ching), and hopefully a nap or two (mmmmm).

  4. I think the effect is because he's only free of the seal for 40 years out of every thousand, meaning he'd only have aged 120 yrs since the Bore was sealed. A channeler of his strength(according to the Companion) would have a maximum lifespan of 900 yrs, which means appearance-wise, he'd probably only look maybe a decade or so older than he did in the Age of Legends.

Interesting. Why 40 years out of a thousand? Seems rather arbitrary.

  5. Balthamor and Aginor are trapped "near the surface of the Bore" and thus are affected by time, becoming extremely aged, etc.

But Ishamael, who is only partially caught when the Bore is sealed, does not appear to be ravaged with age.

    Why the difference?

  6. (Lots of plot points I never considered in this thread.)

For me, one pain point in the series is the continual way that people use intimidation for motivation. Every category of characters--Wise Ones, Aes Sedai, Warders, Lords and Ladies, etc. are always scowling at people until they do as their told. The social pecking order seems to always be in question, but if someone can adjust a shawl and stare daggers at someone else, then the chain of command is established once again. The WoT series doesn't have much in the way of sacred texts, but it seems that everyone has read and studied "Winning Through Intimidation."
