  1. Light, the girl was so helpful it was sickening. But it was a good sickening. The sickening feeling you hjave when you eat too much sweet. You enjoyed it in the process. The girl was going to be sent to Larindhra's office for trying learn too fast...or be too helpful. They got to the kitchens and Selene popped a very good question.

"Did you want to be an Aes Sedai before you found out you could channel?"

Jasmyne stopped and thought a moment. "Sort of. I hadn't thought about it until I decided to run away to become one. So I suppose I did, just not for long." she said with a nod and moseyed into the kitchen. "Hello Laras, how are you?" she said in an overly perky voice to the plump woman wielding the wooden spoon. "What did you do now, Jasmyne?" she replied in a bored and uninterested tone. "Nothing, Laras! How could you say such things. I'm just here to show Selene around the kitchens. That's all." she replied once again in an all-too-sweet voice. Laras rolled her eyes and went back to prodding on a Novice with her head inside a dirty cauldron. Jas gestured for Selene to follow and she began to loudly proclaim the wonders of the kitchen. "This is where Mariara scrubs pots! This is where beef get roasted on spits. This is...." she continued her proclamations while she slipped some sweetcakes into a sack she hid in her dress. "And this is the door were we shall be leaving from!" she said rushing out the door with Selene in tow.

  2. Meli nearly burst into laughter as Selene went into some far off dramatic detail of how her parents had her. It would have made a good story, she had to admit, but it was so far off from what she had been told. According to her father, they had been up all night arguing over the price of silks and had drunk too much wine. One thing led to another, then a year later, Meli had been plopped on his doorstep. She just giggled while she prepared to answer the next questions, which were surprisingly about something totally unrelated.

"Well, the Three Oaths are rather vague. The first Oath is that no Aes Sedai can lie, but over time they have mastered the art of misleading people by what they say. The second Oath is that no Aes Sedai can make a weapon for one man to kill another. I'm not sure about it, but there must be some sort of loop-hole for that one." Perhaps if it was made so only a woman or an Ogier could wield it. She would have to wait until she was Aes Sedai herself. "The last Oath doesn't have much wiggle room either. You can only use the One Power as a weapon against people you are Darkfriends, Shadowspawn, or someone who is threatening yourself, your Warder, or another Sister." That one really didn't have any loop-holes. Unless you convinced yourself that the random lady down the street was a Darkfriend.

Time to tackle the toughie. "What does being an Aes Sedai mean to me? Well, part of it would depend on which Ajah you plan to join. But in general, being an Aes Sedai is being a Servant of All. That's what Aes Sedai means. Whatever you do, it must be for the benefit of all, whether they know it or not." She paused again. Another bad idea....

  3. Ikki wasn't really sure what had happened. Shortly after they finished with defense training, Arath had taken them to cut logs. He apparently had dozed off or started daydreaming or something because the next thing he heard was

"An odd way to accomplish the task, to be sure, but well done.  Soldiers, you are free to go to the inn for a decent meal.  You've earned it.  Dedicateds," he paused with a smirk on his face, "get running.  A full hour, then you cook your own food."

He stared a minute. More running?! He didn't care if he cooked his own food, but Light he hated running. He took off around the perimeter of the Black Tower with much grumbling and after ten minutes, he was already feeling about to die. His body was not made for this sort of labor! After the full hour had passed, he forced himself to move and limped over to the kitchens.

"Running again Ikki?" chirped Daisie, the woman who usually kept the kitchens orderly. She was married an Asha'man who wasn't around much, so this was her way of keeping busy. "Yeah, running and cooking for...whatever I was doing while the Soldiers did the work." Ikki managed to get out. He didn't have much energy, so he just threw some bread, cheese, and pickles onto a plate and slowly limped his aching body to the mess hall. He found his quiet corner in the back and began to slowly eat while massaging his cramped calves.

  4. Jasmyne sighed as she sank into her chair. Appearantly, Larindhra was impressed with her progress since "The Incident" that she was going to entrust the teaching of controlling saidar to novices. he scratched her dark stubble as she recalled her class on control. It was a wonderful day! It was then she had discovered that if all went well, she would have more control weaving Earth than almost every Aes Sedai. This was discovered by her accidentally making the floor under the novice beside her turn into a pitfall and she ended up in the classroom below them. She had gotten strapped for that, but it was amazing. Unfortunately, that day she also discovered that her skill with Water was virtually nothing, but she wasn't going to think about that.

The girls she was teaching filled into the classroom and lo and behold, Selene was one of them. She wasn't sure if that was a blessing or a curse. The girl was so sweet and genuine and she made Jasmyne feel so good, but she asked more questions than any dozen Inquisitors and she always wanted to learn too fast. But so far, Selene was the only girl she knew. She stood up, took a deep breath and began.

"Good morning girls. I am Jasmyne and I will be teaching you the basics of controlling saidar. 'Why?' you may ask. The answer is simple. If you are not in control of saidar, you will die!" She grinned inside as the young minds took that in. Several had eyes like dinner plates, others looked like they might throw up or faint, while others looked incredibly confused. So this was a taste of power. "If you cannot control saidar to do what you want it to do, your weaves can snap at you or someone else with potentially fatal results. If you weave incorrectly, it may blow up in your face. if you draw on saidar too much, you may burn yourself out, which is worse than dying. You know that feeling of euphoria when you are holding the Source? When you're burned out, you can never touch it again, but you constantly have a reminder of it." The girls still looked frightened. It was amusing.

She walked her little body down a row as she continued. It was certainly hard to keep someone's attention or respect when you came just above their naval. "So today we are going to practice two things. Pushing and pulling. First is pulling. I need all of you to embrace the Source." She watched as one by one, the girls all developed a small glow around them. "Good, now picture a cloud. A cute little white cloud drifting along in your sky. I want you to imagine your cloud drifting over the sun and hiding your light. Push away the warmth and joy it brings. Push so that you barely have any grasp at all." The glows faded to almost nothing and Jasmyne nodded. "I want you to try that a couple more times, then we can take a break before moving on.

  5. I'm 17 years old and live in a small town in the middle of nowhere in western Canada. I have 1 semester left before I graduate (I homeschool) and then I plan to move to Alberta to work before college starts.

I enjoy reading, video games (in RPG, fighter, and Misc genres), swimming, listening to music, browsing my 8+ WoT sites, and many ther things.

I am the youngest of 4 siblings, all boys and I grew as an only child because my brothers were all 10+ years older than me and had moved out before I remebered much of them in the house.

I love animals, especially cats. I plan to be the creepy old man down the road with the 60 cats who sits in a rocking chair all days stroking his pretties.
